"Yes, I Am"

No, not me. Nicole Richie confirmed to Diane Sawyer that she is almost 4 months pregnant. The baby's father is her boyfriend of a year, Joel Madden. The interview will air on Thursday on Good Morning America and on Friday on 20/20. I, for one, cannot wait to watch. I'm being serious.

Then she says, "Yeah", like nothing is going on. And Tim is strutting around in his tight leather outfit, letting Faith act like white trash with the white trash ball-grabber. CRAZYNESS

A Lil Bit Of Cal

Here are some pictures of Cal and Trisha in their pool. It's in their backyard. I've always wanted a pool in my yard. Guess it's not really the time for that. Anyway, how cute is he? Look at his little feet all crossed and him leaning back all comfy. Trisha is so cute. She says that Cal hates for her to hang onto his float. He's only a year old!!

Trisha LOVES animals. Dogs, cats, horses, birds (she has all of those). Guess Cal likes animals, too. This is Rocky, a friends dog.
Seeing Cal makes me want to just hop on over to Georgia to just kiss him and squeeze him. Avoiding others. You know, just a quick, hug-and-kiss-on-Cal trip!!
Bless My Heart...

OK, I Need Your Help, Again

** I found this (bunny) somewhere. Thought it was funny!**
I wanted to say that I love you all so much!! Really, when I started this blog, I knew no one who had one. Well, except Trisha (Luke's cousin who just does a picture blog of Cal). I just heard of celebs who had them and then celebrity gossip bloggers.

I knew I wanted to write. I was writing. I've been writing since I was 5. I've ALWAYS had a journal. I've written stories and songs (silly, when I was young), poems, diaries, and letters. Writing has helped me deal with the worst times of my life.

I just wanted to write and have people read what I wrote. When I first started, I was clueless. I didn't know where I wanted my little blog to go. I didn't think anyone would read it except my mom and Lindsey (Thank you!). I barely knew how to work the computer.

Then, I kinda found my voice. My blog is different from the others that I read because most are "mommy bloggers". I'm not a mom. I talk about what I do know. Television, celebrities, makeup, beauty, shoes, books and all that jazz. I've heard advice, "Write what you know". So, I do. And I appreciate you're enthusiasm for me.

I've been moved to tears more than once from a simple comment from a stranger (or a friend/family member). I love that I've got new readers and friends! I've *met* amazing people. Lindsay, Kelli, Kate, Bon, Tharker, Jill, Lainey, Liza... And just from the giveaway I've got some new readers and friends like Diann (hello!) and Kristie (I'm sending you're present, I promise). If I'm leaving you out, yell at me in the comments.

So, I'm saying that I love my blog. I have lots of ideas (well, of course, I post a ton!) and I love my readers and all your love.

BUT, in my life, I feel useless. I don't work. I don't have children. I make no money. Where do we come in, you ask? Any ideas about things I can do from home? I don't have to make tons of money but, just something to make me feel more productive. I don't really want to sell stuff i.e. Mary Kay, Avon, etc... I've been there with Mary Kay and was unimpressed. I don't want to go into it because I don't want lots of comments about that.

Please just let me know if you have any suggestions. Do people still stuff envelopes?
**Edited to Add- It DOES have to be from home. I have medical problems and cannot, at this time, work at a job where I have a schedule. I need to be able to do it from home. AND make money.**

That Lady Just Wanted To "Live Like She Was Dying"

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw made a stop at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA on their Soul2Soul tour (gag me). And it was memorable. Apparently, some girl grabbed Tim in his, um, area, while he walked between a barricade and the stage to greet fans. Well, guess Faithy-Pooh didn't think she should feel him "Breathe" because she was NOT HAPPY. Click on the link to check it out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tA6q1qEfW-k

**It's been deleted! Oh, and it was so funny!! Faith leans down in front of the whole crowd and tells the "area-grabber", "SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TEACH YOU SOME CLASS, MY FRIEND! YOU DON'T GO GRABBIN' SOMEBODY ELSE'S, SOMEBODY'S HUSBAND'S BALLS [don't be mad at me],YOU UNDERSTAND ME? THAT'S VERY DISRESPECTFUL!"

I just think this is hilarious. No, I don't think anyone should grab anyone else. I don't condone the grabbing of other people's husband's "areas". Hell, I don't think people should be grabbing their own husband's "areas" in public. Everyone needs to keep their damn hands to themselves. But, seriously, she looks like a fool. Tim can handle himself.
The two of them just rub me the wrong way. They are just gross and so "we are perfect and rich and better than you" It's not REAL. No one is pretty, talented, happy, rich, PERFECT all the damn time. But, she tries to perpetuate this appearance and it's gag-me-with-a-plastic-spoon. Soul2Soul. Whatever.

As Promised

50 craziest celebrity baby names:

Aanisah: Macy Gray (also mother to Tahmel)- I cannot pronounce this
Apple: Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow- I'm almost used to this by now. Moses (her son) is weird, too. I've read that she doesn't understand why people think the name "Apple" is so weird because people name their children nouns like "Lily" and "Rose" all the time. I guess I can see her point. Apple's full name is Apple Alison Blythe Martin
Astrella Celeste: Donovan and Linda Lawrence (also parents to Oriole Nebula)-Celesete isn't bad...
Atherton Grace: Don Johnson and Kelley Phleger -this is a girl name??
Audio Science: Shannyn Sossamon-Why? She really has to be on drugs. I'd really like to hear why she did that.
Aurelius Cy: Elle Macpherson and Arpad Busson-this is some European thing, he's named for his father's family member
Blue Angel: U2's The Edge and Aislinn O'Sullivan-Great idea, lovely!
Bluebell Madonna: Geri Halliwell She loved the flowers when she was pregnant. She saw them and just couldn't get enough. Guess her daughter should be glad that she didn't see Carnations or Poinsettias
Brooklyn: David and Victoria Beckham (also parents to Romeo and Cruz)-Brooklyn is a boy. He was named after the city in which he was conceived or where she found out she was pregnant, conflicting stories. And really, ROMEO? Cruz... I don't know. The best of the three.
Calico: Alice and Sheryl Cooper (also parents to Sonora Rose)-Like the cat
Camera: Arthur Ashe and Jeanne Moutoussamy-like a Nikon? Camera, c'mon.
Destry: Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw-this sounds like a street in England or somewhere
Diezel Ky: Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis (also parents to Denim Cole)-this is what you put in big trucks so they run, like you put gas in your car. And Denim is fabric. Polyester is probably a good name too.
Fifi Trixibell: Bob Geldof and Paula Yates (also parents to Peaches and Pixie)-How can you even touch this one? Fifi, Pixie (well, Luke had an aunt named Pixie but, she died), Peaches... it's kitty-cat names, names for faeries
Fuchsia: Sting and Frances Tomelty-it was the color the child was when it (boy or girl?) was born
Gaia: Emma Thompson and Greg Wise-Pronounced Gaya? not the worst on the list
Gulliver: Gary Oldman and Donya Fiorentino poor child, nerd
Heaven: Lil' Mo (also mother to God'Iss Love Stone) OK, Heaven whatever, but c'mon... God'Iss Love? Godiss??? "Hi, my name is Godiss"
Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily: Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence Just way too much and too much to live up to and too much
Hopper: Sean Penn and Robin Wright-this one is just funny
Ireland: Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger and sad
Jaz: Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi Jaz?
Jazz Domino: Joe Strummer Domino... again, love to hear the story
Jermajesty: Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza (previously married to Jermaine's brother Randy) those Jacksons are just in their own little world
Kal-El Coppola: Nicholas Cage (Kal-El is Superman’s original birth name)-He's crazy and creepy and his wife is barely legal
Kyd: David Duchovny and Tea Leoni-very original... should've named him boy or girl
Lark Song: Mia Farrow and André Previn-well, I knew a Lark,
Lennon: Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit I like Lennon. I do. Leave me alone.
Liberty: Ryan Giggs Lots of people love this name... don't get it
London Emilio: Slash lots of people like "London"... I know a girl London
Luna Coco Patricia: Frank Lampard and Elen Rive Luna CoCo, yeah, and then throw in PATRICIA
Marquise: 50 Cent No big surprise
Memphis Eve: Bono before Memphis?
Moon Unit: Frank Zappa, also father to Dweezil and Diva Muffin I sooo wanted to name my little girl Diva Muffin...
Moxie CrimeFighter: Penn Jillette (also father to Zolten) this one is just CA-RAY-ZEE well, both of them. They sound like comic book characters. Moxie and Zolten. And CrimeFighter???
Ocean: Forest Whitaker (also father to Sonnet and True) I've heard of so many people naming their children True. What is that?
Pilot Inspektor: Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf I've heard lots of people ask him about this and he never gives a straight answer.
Poppy Honey: Jamie and Jules Oliver (also parents to Daisy Boo) He's a cook and I think he's so charming
Rocket: Robert Rodriguez (also father to Racer, Rebel and Rogue) I like Rebel for a dog
Rufus Tiger: Roger Taylor also father to Tiger Lily and Lola Daisy People just love the Tiger Lily
Saffron Sahara: Simon and Yasmin Le Bon (also parents to Amber Rose and Tallulah Pine) All these strong smells and colors... they must like acid because their senses are unnaturally heightened
Sage Moonblood: Sylvester Stallone and Sasha Czack (also parents to Seargeoh)-sounds violent, who wants the word "blood" in their child's name?
Satchel: Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee- or purse? handbag? pocketbook?
Seven Sirius: Andre Benjamin and Erykah Badu-I am sure their is a story there too. I've actually started playing around with a little fictional story where a girl names her son "Seven"
Shiloh Nouvel: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-I have always liked the name Shiloh
Sosie: Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick it's not bad at all and I love her (Kyra)
Suri: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes cutest kiddie, could've done better with the name
Tallulah: Bruce Willis and Demi Moore (also parents to Scout and Rumer) All these names are bonk
Willow Camille Reign: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith I just don't think Willow is bad, either. Or the below Zola.
Zola Ivy: Eddie Murphy and Nicole Mitchell

What do you think? Do you know people with some crazy names? Do you like names that other people think are weird?
I like long names and people make fun of me. I don't mind two middle names. I like the idea of giving my kids my maiden names as one of their middle names (not as a hyphenated last name) and I get grief. But not from Luke. I like the name Vivianne (pronounced "Vivi Anne" not Vivian) and NO ONE likes it. Lin, Mom, Luke, everyone hates it. Luke says it sounds "old". I love it and love "Vivi". I also like Evelynn (Eve Lynn). Evie. No one likes that either. But, Lindsey likes HOUSTON for a boy. Yuk.

Dharma Has A Baby

First, please don't stop giving me your recipes. I appreciate it so much! I knew I could count on y'all.
Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg) and her husband, Bodhi, welcomed son, STORY ELIAS, on July 23. He weighed 7lbs and, OK.... I can't do it. Story. STORY? STORY??? What is that? Why do they do that? I mean, you don't have to name your child the top 5 most popular names. But, STORY? Poor child.
**And, she beat Naomi and Bridget. I hope Bridget names her little boy something cute and normal. Naomi had Alexander Pete on 7-26.**
***Recently, the strangest celebrity baby names were compiled. I will find it and post them. Celebs and baby names- hello, love it. But these, good grief! Stay tuned***

Calling All Readers!! I Need YOU...

I'm in need of your recipes. Now that Luke will be here every night I have to cook different meals for him. I eat lots of salads and fish when he's not here. He doesn't eat baked or grilled fish or salads (Rabbit food!). He likes meat, meat and meat; chicken, beef, and pork. He does like shrimp, thank God! I could eat seafood EVERYDAY. That's just me. Crawfish, shrimp, crab, I love it all.

Anyway, I need main dishes and side dishes, too. I usually buy fresh or frozen veggies and just boil or steam them. It's not easy to get him to eat that. So, I need ideas. Here's some stuff that's in rotation now:

*My awesome spaghetti- I don't use the jar sauce. We love it!

*Red beans and rice- a Louisiana dish with sausage and seasonings

*chicken- baked, grilled... I just need something NEW to do with it- I usually marinate it in something (an herb and lemon or something like that)

*lasagna

*green bean casserole

*hamburgers

*hamburger steak

*taco soup

*tacos

*chili

I need whatever you got. Like I said, he doesn't really get very excited about plain veggies. He loves black-eyed peas (I do not). There is not a whole lot that I don't like, veggie and fruit wise.

So, please send me whatever you've got. Or let me know about your favorite cookbooks. I'll be so appreciative. If this all sounds crazy and not well written it's because I'm hungry!! Ha Ha

P.S. Tell your friends to come give me their recipes, too!

Couple of Things

Cute picture of my Muffin. He really is loosing the baby-look. This is just a "duh" look. That's Claire, or Cwaiyah, as Cooper calls her. Claire is Lin's cousin. Cooper loves her. Isn't she a chunker??? Look at the rolls on her ankles!!

My cousin, Jennifer, is pregnant with her 3rd child. She is newly pregnant, just found out so I am not sure of a due date (probably March). She had blood drawn twice and her levels are fine. Jennifer and I grew up together. We lived very close to each other and our families are very close.

Her mom is my daddy's big sister. She is my godmother. My mom and dad actually met through my Nanny (Jennifer's mom, my aunt). My mom baby-sat Jennifer and her older brother, Robby, before she ever met daddy. Robby is 10 years older than I am and Jen is 10 years older than Justin, my little brother. Then, my Nanny has a 3rd, my cuz Cody, who is 28 and recently engaged. He lives in Oklahoma and I miss him.

Our family has not been the same since my Paw Paw died in February of 2002. That kills me more than I think I have the ability to express. I understand that people have lives: kids, jobs, friends, etc... It's all about priorities in my opinion. I didn't mean for this to turn into a sad post, I'll come back to this painful topic one day, maybe.

I'm truly happy for this baby to come. I love Jen. She never pretends to be anything or anyone she isn't. She is sweet and naive and is a great mom. She has two sons, Hunter who turned 6 in April and Mason who is 2 (3 in October). Hunter is the sweetest little thing. He makes the cutest faces and gets excited over the smallest things. He was the best baby! You never heard a peep from him. Then he went through a "phase". He was BAD. Now, you just can't get enough. So cute. I wish I had a scanner.

Mason is difficult. He had stomach problems (reflux) since birth and NEVER. Stopped.Crying. Ever. Then, he was sick all the time with the ear infections and all kinds of other things. Poor poor baby. He looks just like our BELOVED Paw Paw Harry. He has blond hair and blue eyes. Paw Paw hurt his back and walked hunched over and Mason did that for a long time until he had tubes put in his ears. He was off balance! He also has Paw Paw's ears. Jen told me today that nothing makes him happy anymore. I know at Christmas he was doing better. How terrible for her and of course for Mason.

Jennifer doesn't care if it's a boy or girl. She couldn't stand when people would ask her if they were going to try for a girl because if they did have another child it wouldn't be to have a girl. Her husband, she told me, does want a girl. We'll see in a few months. I'll let you know.

What's Old is Cool

When I was a little girl, I loved Strawberry Shortcake. I had a "moterbike" and sleeping bag and the doll with the scented red hair. This is what she looked like back in the 80's when she was a friend of mine.

And here is little Miss Strawberry Shortcake now. All jazzed up for today's kids in jeans and a pullover instead of her sweet little dress with her striped stockings. SS is back and little girls love her. But, she's a different, all made over Shortcake .
Another "comeback" is Care Bears. I'm not sure how much they've changed or if they have at all but, I know the movie is cute. The old one and the new one.

My Little Pony is also a craze that began when I was little. I had some of those little plastic ponies with the sparkly, long, colorful hair. They came with the little brushes. This is what the 80's logo looked like

The new logo.

Other things I loved when I was a kid:
She'Ra Princess of Power. She rocked. We (my little brother and me) loved her because my mom's name is Sheila so we'd say "Sheeeeee-la"! We were little.

I thought Rainbow Brite was AWESOME!! She was, obviously, colorful and had powers and such. And look how cute she is with the blonde ponytail and the stars... I don't know if she's "comeback". Mommys, you'll have to let me know. Cabbage Patch Kids. Oh, my how did I really love CBKs. I was a baby doll fanatic. My mamma gave me a baby every year for Christmas. I loved the Cabbage Patch Newborns most of all with the powdery smelling bald heads. They came with the birth certificates with those awful names! I had a Cabbage Patch Kid with a purple dress and blonde curly (wavy) hair. They still have these. The picture above is a little girl waiting to be adopted at Toys R Us. I just may go and adopt her!

What do you think?

I Heart Zappos

If you've never shopped at Zappos.com, you should try it. They have GREAT customer service. Really over and above the call of duty. The above shoes (Oh Deer! Marilyn) were ordered by me a few months ago after I drooled over them for forever. When I got them in, they were too big in the heel. Of course! I have a narrow heel, always have, causing me to flip flop out of shoes like a child. Buying shoes for me when I was a child was not easy. My mom hated it.

Anyway, my beloved shoes arrived, I was flip-flopping out of them, tripping around and obviously needed a smaller pair. So, being the huge procrastinator that I am I put the whole box in a corner to deal with "later".

I discovered after a big cleanup, that my friend and saving grace, Melissa, had thrown away the packing box and paperwork and put the shoes and shoebox in the closet. She is used to me having boxes of things around. But, I needed that to return the shoes! So, I thought I'd call and see what I could do. The lady who I spoke to was so sweet. She sent me a smaller size right away. I called on Friday and Monday they were at my door. Then she sent me a return slip so I can ship the too big ones back, "When I get a chance." How awesome is that?

The new shoes fit and I L.O.V.E. them. They are everything I dreamed. Just go on over to Zappos and look for whatever shoe or sunglasses you want. They have tons of brands and there's a SALE! Oh, and FREE overnight shipping! What else could you possibly want?

If you've ever bought anything from Zappos, let me know. How did you like it? What did you buy? If you have not, did I make you interested? Even a little curious?

I also bought these Roxy's from Zappos. I love them, too. I get mucho compliments on them. They are very comfy & sooooo cute.

I also got my sunglasses from Zappos. They are my first "big girl" pair. Meaning they cost more than $10. They came in a pink hard case with a little beige cloth to wipe the lens. They are very glam. Everybody knows how much I love GLAM.

Winners!!

Yay! We have two winners in my giveaway.

The first name I chose was,

KRISTIE

from

Life with My X-Men

She lives in Ohio, is married to Eric and has two sons. Her oldest is Drew, 7, and Blake, 4. She has a really pretty smile and sent me a very sweet email. She seems very close to her family and I love that. I hope to have made a friend!!

The second winner is

BEE

from

Will Blog For Shoes

Now how coincidental is that? She, too, is a shoe freak (and handbags and makeup) and loves to shop! She has a little boy who she calls Wog.

And I won something too. It's a Halloween tote for a girl. Go to Treasures of Joy to see it.

Thanks everyone.

A MeMe

I forgot that Beth at In My Shoes tagged me to do this MeMe. So, here I go:

#1. What were you doing 10 years ago?
I don't know what I was doing EXACTLY in the July of 1997 but, I was 16. I was dating the demon. The year I turned 16 (on my birthday in January) I was diagnosed with mono. I was very sick with it. I was hospitalized for severe dehydration and an unknown infection in April. After lots of testing, the doctors found a parasite in my stomach. It was easily treated with a pill. My immune system was just too weak to handle it. I weighed 98lbs when I checked into the hospital. I was the same height I am now, 5'7".

#2 What were you doing 1 year ago?
Luke was working out of town. I was doing the same old stuff.

#3 Five snacks you enjoy:
1. Fruit but, mostly plums, peaches, grapes and melon
2. cheese
3. chips and dips (guacamole, salsa, cheese)

*I know the words to lots and lots of songs

#5 Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
1. Buy house
2. Buy diamond earrings
3. Buy LP a guitar
4. Travel
5. Give to St. Jude's

#6 Five bad habits:
1. Chewing the skin around my nails
2. Cursing

I'm So Excited!!

Big Thank You to Shannon at Rocks in my dryer for hosting the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER GIVEAWAY CARNIVAL. I've had soooooo much fun visiting new blogs and having people visit mine. I hope that i got some new readers and not just people here for my AWESOME Philosophy prizes. But, eh, I'm realistic. I know that most people will never be back. Greedy bloggers! Whatever... Just kidding because, I visited LOTS of blogs and entered LOTS of drawings (please let me win something!) and I found some that were for me and some that were not.

So, yes, I picked 2 winners. I am waiting for responses from the first winner drawn. She has first choice as to which prize she wants. I've emailed her and as soon as I hear from her, I will contact the second winner via email. Then I will do a great big "LOOK WHO WON" post!!!

Wanna know how I chose the winners? I will tell you. I cut up 207 pieces of paper (well 205 because I posted a comment and so did "Monique" and she didn't qualify) and wrote each name down. I even wrote down the few names that I knew I couldn't get in touch with just to see if they would have been winners. Then I put them all in my black Sephora bag (you know the one you get your goodies in when you order), cinched it up and shook it up. Then I pulled the first name and emailed her. Then I pulled the second name.

I've been to both of their blogs. I really like both of them. The second winner is very, ummmm, ironic. And as of right now, 12:56 am CST she has no clue she has won.

These a hint for anyone interested- 1) I don't know the winners. Not in person or in my blog friend life. (So, it's not Lin, Sarah, Kelli, Kate, Katie, Jamie, Jillie, Amy, Naomi, Laura, etc...)

On a different note, Lin reminded me (THANKS!) that I owe KELLI, SARAH, KATE, & LIN prizes from the relationship post. That's everybody, right? And MOM, I know. So, my question for you guys-
(a) Bath & Body Works Magnolia Shower Gel
(b) The Body Shop peppermint foot lotion
(c) Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial foaming hand soap
(d) Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial deep cleaning hand soap- pick a scent and I'll tell you if I have it.

Now, don't be shy. Let me know which ones y'all want.

I'll be having another "Reader Participation" soon. It's going to be about Summer Fashion. Get ready....

It's very easy to enter- just leave a comment telling me about your favorite beauty product. I'll pick names from a hat on Friday, July 27th and announce the winner some time that day. **I'll probably pick a winner at midnight CST**

You DO NOT have to have a blog to win and you can be my family or friend. Just be sure I have your email information.

OK- so, what's the prize? I'm going to have 2 winners (prizes from Philosophy)

Naomi Has A Boy!

Lindsey you were wrong! But, since she was due last and it's her first baby, I don't blame you. Lindsey said that Bridget Moynahan would deliver her baby first and unless she did and hasn't said, Naomi Watts' little man is older. Naomi and Liev Schrieber welcomed baby ALEXANDER PETE SCHREIBER early this a.m. He weighs 8lbs 4ozs and is 22.5 in long. The two actors have been together since 2005.

GOSSIP WEDNESDAY!!

I love Gossip Wednesday, I do. But, I'm not doing anything on Britney today. I think she's just a hot mess and frankly, I'm just sad for her. There are children involved and it's not funny.

Secondly, I'm NOT talking trash about Lindsey Lohan and her addictions and being in rehab. I definitly don't think rehab or drugs are a joke. I think this child is beautiful and talented. I think that drugs and alcohol are killers and scary. She, like Britney, needs someone to take care of her. She needs to be held accountable. She needs a mother who doesn't make money off of her.

This situation hits too close to home for me and for close friends.

Of Course She Didn't Name Her BUNNY!

I am so sorry! I was mis-informed. Katie Price, AKA Jordan, and husband, Peter Andre, didn't name their daughter Bunny like I said last week. Of course not! Who would do that? They named her PRINCESS TIAAMII. She (Katie) said she always wanted to name a daughter Princess (of course) and Tiaamii is a combination of the two's mothers 'names. GREAT

Southern Women

I stole this from Andie. I hope she doesn't mind!! I love it. I'm southern born, southern bred and so proud. Andie got it in an e-mail.

Southern women appreciate their natural assets:
Clean skin, a winning smile, that unforgettable Southern drawl

Southern women know their manners:
"Yes, ma'am." "Yes, sir." "Why, no, Billy!"

Southern women have a distinct way with fond expressions:
"Y'all come back!"
"Well, bless your heart."
"Drop by when you can."
"How's your Momma 'n' ' em?"
"Love your hair."

Southern women know their weather report: Humidity. Humidity. Humidity.

Southern women know their three Rs: Rich, Richer, Richest.

Southern women know their vacation spots: the beach, the beach the beach

Southern women know the joys of June, July, and August:
Summer tans
Wide brimmed hats
Strapless sun dresses

Southern women know everybody's first name:
Honey
Darlin'
Shugah

Southern women know the movies that speak to their hearts:
Fried Green Tomatoes
Driving Miss Daisy
Steel Magnolias
Gone With The Wind

Southern women know their religions:
Catholic
Baptist
Methodist
Football.

Southern women know their country breakfasts:
Red-eye gravy
GRITS
Country ham
Mouth-Watering home-made Biscuits

Southern women know their cities dripping with Southern charm:
Charleston
Savannah
New Orleans
Beaufort

Southern women know their elegant gentlemen:
Men in uniform
Men in tuxedos
Rhett Butler, of course

Southern women know their prime real estate:
The Mall
The Country Club
The Beauty Salon

Southern women know the three deadly sins:
Bad hair
Bad manners
Bad shoes

Southern girls know men may come and go, but friends are forevah!

Now Shugah, send this to some girls who were raised in the South or wish they had been. If you're a male, you hug that Southern woman of yours and say, "I'm a lucky man!" If you're a northern transplant, FAKE it...We know you got here as fast as you could. Bless Your heart!

**You know, if you're southern, you can say something mean about anybody as long as you bless their heart, right? "Look at that ugly baby! Ughhh!! Bless her heart." Don't you act like you don't know what I'm talking about. "Oh, she has gotten so big. Bless her heart." **

I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten;
Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie's Land
In Dixie's Land where I was born in,
Early on one frosty morning,
Look away! Look away! Look away, Dixie's Land!
Then I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie's Land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie!
Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie!
Away! Away! Away down South in Dixie!

A Couple Things...

-I took a nap and had the weirdest dream. My mom had a blog and didn't tell me. And I was so so so so MAD! I was angry that she'd lied to me. And I was crying and yelling. I was out of control. But, don't worry, I have crazy dreams all the time. Very vivid, real dreams that are sometimes really good and some really not. Some are so incredible I don't want to wake up. This one was just nonsense.

-I'm starving and I don't know what I want. I hate that. I don't want to start cooking. Luke's asleep (we are kinda stuffy and sneezy over here) and I'm not going to start anything mayjah (a little nod to Lin). But, I don't want just a bowl of cereal. I don't know.

-Teach your children phone etiquette or don't let them "play" with the phone. If that pisses you off or offends you, I'm sorry. This is my blog and if you read it regularly, you know how much I LOVE kids. But, I am not a fan of parents who allow their children to just run around and act like idiots. *Yes, there is a reason I'm saying this.* I'm minding MY own business in MY own house. MY cell phone rings. I pick it up and say, "Hello" and a kid (not over 5, I'm sure, and hope) says "Heeellllloooooo? Heeelllllooooo?" So, as I am sure it's not Daniel, he's very "grown-up" and all "How are you today?" on the phone, I say "Hello" one more time and don't hear anything so I hang up and am annoyed. Then, the phone rings again. MY phone. "Hello" and the little boy says, "Who this is?" Now, I cannot stand grammar like this but, yes I understand that he's a little kid (even though people must be speaking like this in front of him). I also CANNOT stand when someone calls MY phone and asks ME who I am before identifying themselves. Once again, I realize that this is a child but, if you are going to allow your child to use the phone without you even supervising (obviously), teach him etiquette. So after I kept saying, who is this? What's your name? Who are you looking for? And him answering only, "Heeellllloooooo?" And, "Who this is?" He FINALLY says, "Where's maw maw?" I told him there were none here and he had the wrong number. I figured he would keep calling me if I didn't clear it all up. OK, so, please teach your kids manners. And if they are young and using the phone, help them.

-Have you all finished reading your Harry Potter book?

-What to EAT? Shrimp & pasta, the old stand-by, I'm sure.

-I am very upset that I missed Monk last night with my man, SNOOP DOGG, guest starring. I had to pick Luke up at the airport in N BR. He missed his flight in Houston (to Baton Rouge), because his flight from Detroit was late coming into Houston. So, they put him on standby on the 2:20 flight and confirmed him for the 3:10 flight. Well, at 2:20, he calls and said that he did not make the 2:20 and the 3:10 was cancelled. The next flight wasn't until 7. He could drive home and be here by 7 or about (he tells me). While driving, he calls me and tells me that he hopes his luggage is in BR because he packed his keys. WHAT A MORON. Really. Of course the bag wasn't there! Who does that? Do you pack your keys?

-Happy Saturday Night!

Life

I heard that a girl I went to school with has stage 4 brain cancer. The doctors sent her home to die. I cannot even imagine it. It's just so tragic. She's 27-years old. 27!

I hear that she has a wonderful attitude, like there is nothing wrong. She talks about her future plans with a big smile on her face. And maybe she does have one. I'm the type that believes. The mind is so powerful. And prayer is too. If this entire community is praying for her, who knows? It's all in God's hands.

When something like this happens to someone your own age, someone you know, it's like a big slap in the face. It's so true that you never think it can happen to you or anyone you know but, it can and it does. I'm not at all close to this girl now. I wasn't that close to her in school but, it has shaken me all the same.

She's a young woman who lives where I live. A wife and daughter and sister and friend. And now? I don't know what now. No one knows the answer to that. Or even why her. So, it could be me. Or anyone.

The only thing I can do to help is buy jambalaya! Her family or her friends are putting on a benefit, selling jambalaya plates for $5. The money will be used to help pay for medical expenses. People do this kind of thing all the time around here. If you live in my area and are interested in helping, let me know. If you have a business, they will deliver the food at lunchtime.

If you don't live here, which most of you don't, please just pray. Her name is Amanda. She needs that prayer just as much as that $5.

The Cuteness of the Muffin

I love this picture!
He looks so OLD though.
He says "Peas" for "Please" and I promise you, you'd have a very hard time saying no!
He also says "thanks" VERY enthusiastically! No matter what you do for him.
Lin will hand him his juice, "Thanks, mama, thanks!!"
He dances and likes for me (anyone) to dance with him but, when I sing, he yells "No!"
Lindsey made him his supper the other night, bowl of mashed potatoes, I think, or whatever, and put it in front of him. He looked up at her and said, "No thanks, mama, I go McDonald's"
Funny!

Emmy Nominations- UPDATED WITH WINNERS

The 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, September 16th on FOX.
The nominations were announced today and here are some of them, along with my opinions on some. I left out categories about writing, directing, cinematography, make up, hairstyling, mini series, etc. If you want to see the whole list go here.

OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES
-30 Rock, NBC **WINNER**
-Entourage, HBO
-The Office, NBC
-Two and a Half Men, CBS
*MY PICK- The Office- This show is funny and smart and well acted. I also think it has a great chance of winning.

OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
-Boston Legal, ABC
-Grey's Anatomy, ABC
-Heroes, NBC
-House, FOX
-The Sopranos, HBO **WINNER** I was right
*MY PICK- hard to say... I have never seen Heroes. I don't think Grey's deserve it this year. Boston Legal is good but, House is my favorite show. The Sopranos will probably win, though. They always do and this is the last year.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
-Martin Landau as Bob Ryan Entourage HBO
-Sir Ian McKellen as Himself Extras HBO
-Stanley Tucci as David Ruskin Monk USA **WINNER**
-Beau Bridges as Carl Hickey My Name is Earl NBC
-Giavonni Ribisi as Ralph Mariano My Name is Earl NBC
*MY OPINION- I love Giavonni! And Earl. Once again, I am not qualified enough to comment accurately. I don't watch the HBO shows. I do watch Monk and love it. But, Giavonni is great.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
-Christian Clemenson as Jerry "Hands" Espenson Boston Legal ABC
-Forest Whitaker as Curtis Ames ER NBC
-David Morse as Michael Tritter House FOX
-Eli Wallach as Eli Weintraub Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip NBC
-John Goodman as Judge Robert Bebe Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip NBC **WINNER**
-Tim Daly as J.T. Dolan The Sopranos HBO
*MY OPINION- Not enough info BUT, I saw both David Morse and Forest Whitaker's performances. The former's was not Emmy-worthy in my opinion and the latter was. It was outstanding.

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
-Elaine Stritch as Colleen Donaghy 30 Rock NBC **WINNER**
-Dixie Carter as Gloria Hodge Desperate Housewives ABC
-Laurie Metcalf as Carolyn Bigsby Desperate Housewives ABC
-Judith Light as Claire Meade Ugly Betty ABC
-Salma Hayek as Sofia Reyes Ugly Betty ABC
*MY PICK- Laurie Metcalf OK, who else thinks it's insane that D.H. (and Ugly Betty) are in the "comedy" category? Anyway, I saw all of these performances and they were pretty strong (with the exception of Salma which was just, eh). Dixie Carter did a great job as Mother Hodge and Judith Light is always good. However, Carolyn Bigsby's paranoid, desperate, ragged, "on edge" and eventual murderous character was portrayed fabulously by Miss Metcalf.

... IN A DRAMA SERIES
-Jean Smart as Martha Logan 24 FOX
-Kate Burton as Ellis Grey Grey's Anatomy ABC
-Elizabeth Reaser as Jane Doe Grey's Anatomy ABC
-Leslie Caron as Lorraine Chalmers Law & Order: Special Victims Unit NBC **WINNER**
-Marcia Gay Harden as Star Morrison Law & Order: Special Victims Unit NBC
*MY PICK- Elizabeth Raeser or Leslie Caron

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
-Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy 30 Rock NBC
-Ricky Gervais as Andy Millman Extras HBO **WINNER**
-Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk Monk USA
-Steve Carell as Michael Scott The Office NBC
-Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper Two an a Half Men CBS
*MY PICK- Steve Carell or Tony Shalhoub

... IN A DRAMA SERIES
-Keifer Sutherland as Jack Bauer 24 Fox
-James Spader as Alan Shore Boston Legal ABC **WINNER** Shocker
-Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House House FOX
-Denis Leary as Tommy Gavin Rescue Me FX
-James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano The Sopranos HBO
*MY PICK- Hugh Laurie- If you know me or even have read "The Diary", you know how I adore Hugh. That said, I wonder if the Academy will give James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, etc the Emmy because it's all over for them. (They are nominated for 15)

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
-Tina Fey as Liz Lemon 30 Rock NBC
-Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo Desperate Housewives ABC
-Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Christine Campbell The New Adventures of Old Christine CBS
-America Ferrera as Betty Suarez Ugly Betty ABC **WINNER**
-Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin Weeds Showtime
*MY PICK-Felicity Huffman- This category makes me mad. DH should not be in it so, Felicity Huffman should not be in it. But, I think she is an amazing actress. I think that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a great comedic actress though.

... IN A DRAMA SERIES
-Sally Field as Nora Walker Brothers & Sisters ABC **WINNER**
-Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson Law & Order: SVU NBC
-Patricia Arquette as Allison Dubois Medium NBC
-Kyra Sedgwick as Dep. Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson The Closer TNT
-Minnie Driver as Dahlia Malloy The Riches FX
-Edie Falco as Carmelo Soprano The Sopranos HBO

Britney's World

Doesn't it look like Sean Preston is pissed at her? He's pointing that finger and yelling, "Can you try not to embarrass us today? Puh-leese! Keep your parts in your shirt, mama!"

Britney got a new puppy named LONDON.

She's a yorkie and everyone is outraged because Brit can't even raise her children. How can she take care of a dog.

Fall TV News

I'm a major fan of the show House. The season finale had Foreman, Chase, and Cameron all leaving Princeton-Plainsboro, so what gives? Well, Olivia Wilde (The Black Donnelly's, The O.C.),

Kal Penn (24, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Peter Jacobson (In Justice, Transformers, and he just played "Kenny Kagen" on The Starter Wife) and Anne Dudek (Big Day) have all been hired and will appear in a minimum of 8 episodes. This doesn't necessarily mean our favorite group won't be back for "differential diagnosis" but, that's what I know.

CSI and Without A Trace will have a crossover episode this fall.

Expect to see ANTHONY LaPAGLA and WILLIAM PETERSON

on each other's shows. I love A.L.
