Who Wants To Come With? ETA

I would totally go see Britney Spears in concert. I HATE clowns and circus things though so, I wouldn't like it if it were an hour and a half of that. I wonder when she'll be back in here in her home state with the tour?

ETA- Amy, who lives in LA, too, says that the 2009 tour, called The Circus Starring Britney Spears, opens on March 3, 2009 in New Orleans. And, to you, Miss Lindsay, Brit will be in Salt Lake City at the EnergySolutions Arena on April 14.

Live From American Idol!

I'm not blogging enough to separate my tv from my regular so, this is my American Idol post. I DVR everything so, it's behind an an hour.

First comments- (1) I miss Carly! (2) Neil Diamond ugggggggggh...... spare me! (3) Paula is such an aggravation.

Jason- He always, always sounds the same. It was a decent performance, but nothing outstanding. I don't understand the girls going crazy over him. He has pretty eyes. I don't see anything to scream my head off over. The song, the blue jean song, is silly.

David C- I have been a big David C fan in the past. My favs of his were his "Billie Jean" and "Always Be My Baby". This was another mediocre performance: good enough, same sound, boring. It sounds a bit theatrical. I've never heard this song before.

Brooke- I actually like this song ("I'm A Believer") and I think she did a pretty good job. I like it better when a band does it, the way I've heard it before, but it was a decent effort. It was good compared to last week. I hope she keeps her shoes on for her next performance.

David A.- Let me just say before he even sings, I would never buy a CD of this guys. I think many little tweens and maybe older ladies would, though. Oh, he's such a cheeseball..... He really was kinda pitchy. The judges will probably love him though. He'd be great on Broadway.

Syesha- Every week I am bored to tears by this girl. I actually really liked this performance, though. I do think she tries really hard to sound like Whitney and falls short (she missed a few of her high notes in the beginning) and that hurts her a little. She has a gorgeous face.

Okay, the judges are talking. Paula needs to be fired! Who takes her seriously?
Jason- I like it better from the get-go. My lil bro loves the faces he makes. WOW! Kathryn, he does have gigantic feet. I just know he'd look so much better with a haircut. Oh, the end was bad. It was ALL RIGHT. (The judges are unimpressed, too)
David Cook- I don't like the facial hair but I loove the guitar. I think this song is better. Every rocker needs a big ballad, in my opinion. This is not the best but it's good. He has great lips. He can be very sexy. I'd buy his CD and see him live (hopefully with pics of him sans beard). It's mostly my kinda stuff. (The judges dig it. The second song is a winner with them.)
Brooke- Ok, let's see what she does. Her hair looks really pretty this week. A big fat NO on the pants. Oh My GOD! I was digging it and I get a Required Weekly Test on the tv. I like when she's at the piano more than not, I think she is more comfortable there, more in her element. I liked it and think it was good. (The judges liked this second song better. They thought the 1st one was not so great.)
David A.- I always think "theatre" when I see this kid perform. Oh, bad note! Anyway, I see him as very cheesy, Disney, corny, good voice (none of this is bad). This performance was okay. I just can't get into him. I know everybody adores him and all. (The judges love him, of course.)
Syesha- I wanted her gone a long time ago. She should've been gone before Michael Johns or Carly Smithson. That is just what I have to say before she even sings, so you all know how I've felt all this time. Beginning of the song was rough, bad notes. I don't like it, she's all over, vocally. Sounds like she is searching for her note. I do not like the no shoes. What the hell is that???? (The judges liked it. Ummm, Corinne Bailey Rae she is not though, Paula. Simon thinks she is in trouble.)
** So, all in all, not a big fan of tonight. I knew that because it was Neil Diamond night. After it's all over, my fav was David Cook's second performance. Please, please shave tonight.

Extra! Extra!

Britney Spears' video for her new song, "Piece of Me" debuted last week on MTV. You can view it here. I'm not embarrassed to say that I like it. I have watched it more than once (journalistic reasons) and I like it more each time.

The very first thing I take note of is the fact that her hair (roots) looks normal. I cannot handle the extensions looking all wormy. I know that it's the same electronic, sound-mixed "singing" but, in my opinion, she's always been a better dancer/performer than singer. I think the sound/beat is great to dance to (and I love that!) and the lyrics make me wonder just how crazy she really is.

All that aside, I think her dancing is still not on par with the Britney of past but, it's so so much better.

Fo Shizzle

Everybody has there guilty pleasures. I've loved him since I was a young, skinny kid just discovering music. Actually, thinking about it, it's not a guilty pleasure cuz I don't feel guilty. This is who I'm talking about-

Remember: "La Di Da Di, We likes to party/we don't cause trouble and we don't bother nobody... I woke up around 10 o'clock in the morning/gave myself a stretch up, a mornin yawn and/went to the bathroom to wash up..." Ahhhh, that song is so silly but, I loved it back in the day.

The song "I Wanna Love You" by Akon featuring Snoop Dogg is nominated for a Grammy. "You can't see me but I can see you..."

Tonight, this show premieres on E!- Snoop Dogg's Father Hood. It features Snoop (nee Calvin Broadus, Jr- Calvin), his wife Shante, sons Corde, Cordell and daughter, Cori. The tag line: "This Ain't the Huxtables." I'm in!
P.S. This is post number 510!!

I Was Country, When Country Wasn't Cool...

Wednesday night was the 41st annual Country Music Awards. I grew up listening to country, mostly. Willie Nelson was a favorite of my dad's. We also listened to stuff like CCR, Jethro Tull, The Allman Bros, stuff like that. My mom was always a big Reba fan. She went to a lot of concerts. Not just Reba ones. Luke and I are music people. I love LOVE live music. I can appreciate all types of music. I am a fan of most everything.
I know I post a lot of pics at a time but, that's how I do it. Do you hate that? I'm doubting that many of you are country music fans but, here's people all dressed up and that's no different from what I show you all the time! I am gonna put my comments on the top of the pictures in this post.
Here is Reba looking really great presenting the Entertainer of the Year award. I love this dress.
I will ALWAYS love George Straight. I will ALWAYS think he's so hot, even though he's old enough to be my (grand) dad.
After his performance... great song "How 'bout Them Cowgirls"
This is my SIL Haley's "boyfriend" Luke Bryan. He is from a small town right next to the one where she and my husband grew up. She has seen him perform all over Georgia and become friends with him.
Rodney Atkins is one of my new favorites! He looked like one of my kinda guys. My kinda people.... His song "These Are My People" remind me SO MUCH of life in south GA. I'm buying this CD! He reminds me of my cousin Cody on my daddy's side.

The beautiful Sara Evans who was a presenter and has the pretty song "As If" out now.
My favorite country music couple- Brad and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. I love them. He won Male Vocalist Award. I love THIS song.
Kellie Pickler looked so good. She sang her song, "I Wonder" which she co-wrote about her mom not being in her life. She broke my heart.
Kate Walsh was a presenter or segment host as I'm now reading that they're being called. I don't know what she has to do with country music but, OK.

Martina McBride is a truly beautiful woman but she missed it on all her outfits. The one she wore while performing was awful! I'm just not a fan of this high-waisted, gathered skirt look...
Gretchen Wilson and Kid Rock arrived, sat and presented together. Hmmmm? They are both single, rough around the edges, come from hard working backgrounds, have one child each... It could work. They could go to Waffle House together.
Sugarland won Vocal Duo of the Year which goes to Brooks N Dunn every year usually. I was glad because I love them.
Sugarland talking in the pressroom about their win. Their performance of "Stay" was one of my favorites of the night (if not the fav). Jennifer Nettles is amazing.

Carrie Underwood proved to be the darling of country music. She was beautiful and her performance of "So Small" was fantastic. She wore a full yellow dress with a big train. She won her second Female Vocalist of the Year award and single of the year for "Before He Cheats."
A family favorite, Alison Krauss who sang a FABULOUS song "Simple Love." We love her here.
Keith Urban arrived and brought his beautiful wife Nicole Kidman who wore this amazing dress. She looked flawlessly beautiful. His performance was not that great and I was not all that keen on the song he sang but, I am pulling for him.
I do think Nic has a little too much white in her hair...

Little Big Town. They sing "Boondocks" a song I like.

This is Taylor Swift who won the Horizon award. Carrie Underwood won it last year. It's for newbies, like Rookie of the Year. She will turn 18 next month. Her dress was pretty and she was sweet.

I am compiling a list of CDs I want after watching this! Rodney Atkins, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts (new), Carrie Underwood (new). I got Timbaland's Shock Value. Yes, not country, I know but, very good.

What's Goin On- Non-Celeb News (UPDATE- 10:19 PM)

I watched What Not to Wear last night. I love that show and would love to have Stacey's job. I would love to be their friend because they are hilarious. I don't think that Stacey is pretty per Se, she is attractive, though. Last night, the first episode was about a girl who had dreadlocks for 10 years. Uhhh! You could smell her through the TV. Her clothes had holes and stains and Stacey cracked me up. Neither one of them wanted to touch her, her hair or her clothes. She had some kind of wonky pinkie toe thing going on, too. Oh, and dreadlock girl- her name was KRISTEN! Great. She had the shoes with HOLES in them where her wonky pinkie toe poked out and it was weird.
I love when Stacey says, "If those were the last shoes on Earth, I'd cut off my feet!"

I'm watching this weeks America's Next Top Model. I'm not going to lie. I cannot because people who know me (Lin, Sarah C., Mom) read this and WILL call me out because they are like that!! I am not the type of girl who thinks she's ugly. Fat, yes. I've never been the type who thought I was ugly because I'm not. I don't think I'm about to knock Heidi Klum off her pedestal but, ugly I am not. Anyway, I am still amazed at these girls on ANTM. When I was younger and thinner, I was not bitchier. I can't believe the mean that some of these girls spew at each other! I guess it makes for good TV but, I just want to see pretty locations, clothes and makeup. Oh, and Nigel- he's a hottie. I also love Miss J and Jay the director. Tyra. *sigh* I have so many different feelings about her. She's over-the-top which I don't have a problem with as I've been known to have a certain flair for the dramatic. She is just a little inconsistent at times with her beliefs.

Tonight, as I was driving down to the little grocery to get milk, I got to listen to one of Luke's CD's that he just made. Green Day's "Time of Your Life" came on and stirred up my feelings. Green Day has been a band that Luke and I have enjoyed during our love. Luke and I are music people. He plays the guitar. We bonded over that because I grew up listening to my beloved daddy playing the guitar. We also really, really, really loved Nirvana. I remember being in a very different stage my freshman year than my friends. I listened to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Better Than Ezra, Smashing Pumpkins,Bush, Stone Temple Pilots and I had a flannel shirt that I wore ALL.THE.TIME. But, I was still totally girly and boy CRAZY and what not.
Luke was like me but, a boy! He was a very popular (I was NOT popular) football player who had lots of friends and girl friends. He was a jock, a prep, and into all the grunge band stuff. Now, we are the same way. We love "jam bands" like Widespread Panic. Luke is a major Grateful Dead fan. We just don't fit into a mold.
Back to the song. "I hope you had the time of your life." The time of your life. WOW. When have you had the time of your life? That's a big question, for me anyway. Even though I think it's a Whoa thing, I can tell you when I had the time of my life. It was the first week I spent with Luke. Then, the other couple of weekends we spent together when we were first together. Our first week together was SO much fun. There was the beach which I love. Tons of people and lots of fun! We all sang and danced, played games, talked, swam, and met people. I wore a two piece bathing suit. I wore short shorts (Who wears short shorts). There was drinking, laughing, family, boys. The only thing I would've changed is Lindsey. I love you, LINDSEY!!

*Cooper and Lindsey called me last night and got my voicemail. Well, Lin did and Muffin kept saying "Hey, Kristen! Hey!" I kept the message. I love when he loves me. Don't y'all want to see more pictures of him? YAY!!

My house is a wreck and I have no energy to do more than one little thing at a time. Dirty dishes are piled in the sink and the dishwasher is waiting to be unloaded. There are towels that need to be washed. My bedroom is overwhelmed with clutter. I'm embarrassed to even get anyone to come help me. *Sigh* So, yeah...

I am also getting a little nervous because I finished "Twilight", "New Moon", "Mommy Tracking", etc... I'll be reviewing "Testing Kate" and "Mommy Tracking" by Whitney Gaskell (both fabulous!). I'm almost finished with Pattie Boyd's "Wonderful Tonight..." and I'll do something on it. I don't like not having a pile of books waiting! I do have "Second Chance" by Jane Green that I've already started and I have "She, Myself & I" by Whitney Gaskell. Tell me what to get next. PLEASE!!!

I'm also working on finding a foundation for Jill at EVERYDAY. Let me know YOUR make up questions.

Lastly, TIGERS WIN AGAIN!!!! LSU-28 South Carolina-16. These are the most points the TIGERS have allowed in a game this season. Now, the GEORGIA DAWGS just have to win and everything will be good in this house. (It's 20-10 Dawgs!!)

Dawgs are TIED with Alabama. Oh my heart!! Oh, Alabama just scored a fieldgoal. Good grief. I'm about to have a heart attack. Nick Satan CANNOT win. OHHHHHHH TOUCHDOWN DAWGS!!! FINAL- 26-23. Way to go Mikey! Mark Richt is an amazing coach. I bet Luke done loss his mine...

I HAVE to see this... UPDATED-After the performance

Britney Spears opens up the MTV VMA's tonight at 8:00. It's 7:39, Luke's watching "The Simpson's" and I am on pins and needles. I really want to see Brit do well. I don't like the new song (It's no "Toxic") but, I feel for her. I think she does love her boys and if everyone were followed around, we would all look like horrible people/wives/parents. I also think that she has made mistakes but, she's human and she was not protected by the people who should have done that. Her parents should have put their foot down reguarding certain things and treated her like a CHILD instead of a CASH COW.
Guess I'll step down off my soapbox now.
*Yeah, Britney needs to decide what she wants. Being a mom is just fine. Deciding to retire from performing is fine. What happened tonight was just mediocrity and that's not going to cut it against the talent out there. Her body is "soft" (better than mine, of course- much better but, not good enough for that "bikini"), her hair is just GROSS, her face is good but, she needs WORK. The lip-syncing was awful and distracting. The dancing was unimpressive. It was NOT what she has WOW-ed me with in the past. I could've easily done it and she looked nervous.
What I'm saying is that if she wants this, a successful comeback, she is going to have to hire the best people and work, work, work. She will have to quit partying (alcohol, late nights, smoking, etc.. all make you fat and look yuck), work out and DANCE. Did y'all see Rhianna? HELLO???? And her shoes? OMG!!! That child is HOT.

Gimmie, Gimmie

Breatheheavy.com has leaked Britney Spears' supposed new single "Gimme More"
CLICK to listen... My computer refused to cooperate and I could only listen to about 1 minute. Maybe it's not a Brit Brit fan?

Also, another song, "Cold As Fire" can be heard HERE. AGGGGGHHHHHH!!! The 1st 30 seconds of synthesized "Yeah" is just unnecessary. I like the beat but, OMG, the lyrics... I really laughed out loud. You gotta go listen! It's ridiculous.

And can we TALK about this picture? Photoshop is her BESTEST FRIEND these days.

Amy Winehouse-Tears dry on their own on Jools Holland

Here is one song I love from the album.

Listen to This

Amy Winehouse kicks ass. For real. I don't listen to the radio so I don't know if you've heard her or not. But, she's amazing. I kept seeing her and hearing about her and thinking that she looked like a cartoon character.
Then, when i was buying some CDs the other day, my curiosity took over and I listened to the samples. I was just blown away!!
It's jazzy and the beats are great and her vocals are astonishing. I really COULD NOT believe that voice came out of that skinny little punk looking gal with the waaaaay teased hair and the obnoxious tatoos. But, her voice is so amazing and different. That's what I love.
I'm a fan of all different types of music. I love old rock like Fleetwood Mac, Lynard Skynard, CCR, Allman Brothers, etc. I love old country like Willie, Merle, George and Dolly. And new country too. I love old jazz ladies like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. I love pop and rock and alternative and Louisiana stuff. I love stuff like Nirvana, Ozzy, Smashing Pumpkins, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, The Doors, The Who, and my fav Widespread Panic. So, you see, I run the gamut with music.
But, Miss Beehive Winehouse is different and her CD is just fabulous. When I got it in, I was going to get Luke and myself food and I jammed. I didn't want to come home! Luke was on the front porch when I pulled in and he was shaking his head. He does not think it's ok to "car dance" or dance anywhere in public for that matter. And I am really the total opposite. If i'm jamming in the car and I see someone looking- I turn it up and rock on!! Luke knows this. So, when I got out of the car he wanted to know what I was listening to and I told him. He had seen her too but never heard her. He was impressed.
So, have you heard her? What do you think?
