In Chaos, Minty Bliss

MAV and I had to run to WaL-MaRt for some things earlier. It was a madhouse. Grown people acting like complete and total fools. There were people behaving in ways that I cannot stand. Three grown men, probably mid-20s, were walking in the middle of the aisle, wearing sunglasses and pretending to be blind. They were knocking things off of the shelves and running into the racks. It was obnoxious.
I fought my way through the store with my buggy (stop laughing. That is what we call them here) and my MAV (not easy because she is quite possibly the slowest human being on the planet-is it all children?). But. BUT!!! On our way to get the taco shells for our supper, we encountered a huge display of Limited Edition Old Fashioned Candy Cane Creme Oreos. How am I possibly supposed to diet when things like this exist?
I bought one package and we each ate two after dinner. I LOVED them. They have the same amount of creme as the double stuffed Oreos but the creme is flavored with peppermint- like a candy cane. It's delicious. I had a cookie "pure" as this girl describes and one cookie "with milk." As with every other cookie (especially the Oreo), "with milk" is always better.
MAV's review, "They're yummy!"

Never As Good

I watched this movie last night on Pay Per View. It was not bad but I read the book and that was SO MUCH BETTER. The story is about Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII's second wife and her sister, Mary, who was his mistress while he was married to Katharine of Aragon.
The movie stars Natalie Portman as Anne which I didn't think was right at first. I thought that Scarlett Johansson would make for a better conniving, manipulative backstabber. Natalie Portman proved me wrong though. She did an excellent job as the seductress and was a great little actress in this movie. I also was surprised by how sexy Eric Bana (Henry Tudor) was in the movie. I don't find him that sexy otherwise.
The movie left so much out! I know that it has to for time and such but I think that it leaves too much out sometimes. I felt that the movie didn't develop the relationship with Anne and Mary and George, their brother. It didn't show how close they were like Philippa Gregory does in the book. Also, some things shown in the movie are factually wrong- Mary Boleyn gives birth to a son, yes, but her first child is a girl, Catherine. Also, the movie never tells you what happened to Mary's first husband, William Carey.
I love this kind of stuff. I recommend that you read Philippa Gregory's books if you enjoyed the movie. I am reading something else right now but when that is done, I'm going to read this. Have you seen the movie? Have you read the book? Labels: books, Movies, review

I Heart Zappos

If you've never shopped at Zappos.com, you should try it. They have GREAT customer service. Really over and above the call of duty. The above shoes (Oh Deer! Marilyn) were ordered by me a few months ago after I drooled over them for forever. When I got them in, they were too big in the heel. Of course! I have a narrow heel, always have, causing me to flip flop out of shoes like a child. Buying shoes for me when I was a child was not easy. My mom hated it.
Anyway, my beloved shoes arrived, I was flip-flopping out of them, tripping around and obviously needed a smaller pair. So, being the huge procrastinator that I am I put the whole box in a corner to deal with "later".
I discovered after a big cleanup, that my friend and saving grace, Melissa, had thrown away the packing box and paperwork and put the shoes and shoebox in the closet. She is used to me having boxes of things around. But, I needed that to return the shoes! So, I thought I'd call and see what I could do. The lady who I spoke to was so sweet. She sent me a smaller size right away. I called on Friday and Monday they were at my door. Then she sent me a return slip so I can ship the too big ones back, "When I get a chance." How awesome is that?
The new shoes fit and I L.O.V.E. them. They are everything I dreamed. Just go on over to
Zappos and look for whatever shoe or sunglasses you want. They have tons of brands and there's a SALE! Oh, and FREE overnight shipping! What else could you possibly want?
If you've ever bought anything from Zappos, let me know. How did you like it? What did you buy? If you have not, did I make you interested? Even a little curious?

I also bought these Roxy's from Zappos. I love them, too. I get mucho compliments on them. They are very comfy & sooooo cute.
I also got my sunglasses from Zappos. They are my first "big girl" pair. Meaning they cost more than $10. They came in a pink hard case with a little beige cloth to wipe the lens. They are very glam. Everybody knows how much I love GLAM.

Listen to This

Amy Winehouse kicks ass. For real. I don't listen to the radio so I don't know if you've
heard her or not. But, she's amazing. I kept seeing her and hearing about her and thinking that she looked like a cartoon character.
Then, when i was buying some CDs the other day, my curiosity took over and I listened to the samples. I was just blown away!!
It's jazzy and the beats are great and her vocals are astonishing. I really COULD NOT believe that voice came out of that skinny little punk looking gal with the waaaaay teased hair and the obnoxious tatoos. But, her voice is so amazing and different. That's what I love.
I'm a fan of all different types of music. I love old rock like Fleetwood Mac, Lynard Skynard, CCR, Allman Brothers, etc. I love old country like Willie, Merle, George and Dolly. And new country too. I love old jazz ladies like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. I love pop and rock and alternative and Louisiana stuff. I love stuff like Nirvana, Ozzy, Smashing Pumpkins, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, The Doors, The Who, and my fav Widespread Panic. So, you see, I run the gamut with music.
But, Miss Beehive Winehouse is different and her CD is just fabulous. When I got it in, I was going to get Luke and myself food and I jammed. I didn't want to come home! Luke was on the front porch when I pulled in and he was shaking his head. He does not think it's ok to "car dance" or dance anywhere in public for that matter. And I am really the total opposite. If i'm jamming in the car and I see someone looking- I turn it up and rock on!! Luke knows this. So, when I got out of the car he wanted to know what I was listening to and I told him. He had seen her too but never heard her. He was impressed.
So, have you heard her? What do you think?

Heartbreaker
Oh goodness grady, did McDreamy look totally gorgeous at the end of Grey's or what? When he was laying on the couch, lights dimmed, with his hand on his head. Whoa... that's smokin'! As opposed to poor "Ava" who- I'm sorry- was not (smokin'). And how much do I love Dr. Bailey and all her attitude but, the fact that everyone runs to her for "mommy-ing"! She reminds me of MY mom- right guys? The one keeping everyone in line, the one everyone needs, the one everyone goes to for advice... that's Sheila! So, I really feel like Callie O'Malley (my daddy & I love to say that) just came on the show to get "beat-up"!!! As a big girl, it's awesome to see someone like Sara Ramirez on a hit show like Grey's. She is pretty & talented. But Callie has been treated like a redheaded stepchild by "the group" (the girls mostly- Mere, Izzie & Christina) since the get go. Even if you don't like her or don't like her with George, you gotta admit it's crappy to have them not even try to get to know her even after she became Mrs O. Plus, whether you are creeped out or are hyped about George and Izzie- he is MARRIED!! So, tear city when Izzie's daughter stuff came up. And when George demanded to know where she was and ran to her... he really loves her. It will be a hard thing for him to fight. So, how do you feel about George and Izzie? I am waaaay over Meredith and her royal bitch attitude. "Everybody just loves me to death and I want them to just let me breathe. God, I need people to stop falling all over me!" That's how she comes off to me. What do you think? I was so glad her story was limited tonight. What about Christina and Burke? Her, acting "sweet and nice" like she said, in front of Dr. Marlowe. Is she trying to prove something to him? Or herself? Will her and Burke make it down the aisle? What about what she told Dr Marlowe in the o.r.? I was shocked by that but, if that's true, they have a shot. What are your reactions to the show? Let's hear it!"When my patient's guts exploded all over me, that was the highlight of my night..." (may not be an EXACT quote) Dr. Callie O'Malley (Sara Ramirez) of Grey's AnatomyLabels: Grey's, review, TV
Ugly & Grey
Hi everyone! I'm so glad it's "new" Grey's Anatomy & Ugly Betty night. It's just a bunch of bulls@*!t that we get all these reruns from shows we love!!! Shows with excellent ratings, legions of fans, armfulls of awards and actors who are paid nauseating amounts of money PER epiosode. Wouldn't you want more episodes if you were paid 6 figures, PER EPISODE?? I know that Katherine Heigl (Izzie) has a movie coming out this summer on June 1st. It's called, "Knocked Up" and it's about an entertainment reporter (Heigl) who ends up pregnant after a one-night stand. I just love her and I can't wait to see this movie.I'm sorry to say that because I've been having migraines constantly, my "what's hot for summer" series will not begin by tomorrow. I've decided to make it a series because it will be easier to read. I'm including fashion, makeup, movies, etc... I want it to be good so, I want to be at my best. Keep sending questions and comments. Tell us your favorite beauty stuff and tips.
