I Can Eat It

Just wanted to let ya'll know that Kelli has started a public recipe blog called Can You Eat This? She has asked me (and some others) to be a contributor and I am very excited about it. I loooove to cook and I looooove to eat. Click on over for the introductions and the explanation of the blog name.

Also, I just made this and OH MY LAWD it is fabulous. Blue and I are loving it. I altered it just a little by using some Guidry's Creole Seasoning instead of an onion (that is chopped yellow onion, bell pepper, garlic, celery, and parsley), regular Ro*tel and no jalapeno (because I didn't have one). It's so freaking good- we may be fighting over it.

Happy 2009.

No Fair Weather Fans Here

The 2008 LSU Tigers just took the field in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. It's being played as usual in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. LSU is playing GA Tech.

I'm emotional. I love the Tigers. I love football. Blue thinks I'm just absolutely insane- "Why the HELL are you CRYIN?" I don't know. I want them to play well and I hate that it's over.
This season has not been a great one for Tiger fans or players. Our record was 7-5 and those 5 losses were rough. I have cursed and thrown things and yelled. Oh, yes, I have yelled. Through it all, though, I love the Tigers and I always will, champions or Peach Chick-Fil-A Bowl-ers.

UPDATED- TOUCHDOWN Tigers! WOOOO HOOOO! Man, what a grrrreat song the fight song is.
UPDATED- Tigers win! Tigers win! What a great game. The Tigers stomped 'em. I cried, of course. I will always and forever be a Tiger girl and I am so proud. I'm thrilled that we got to share so many of the home games with some of my very favorite people. Thanks Justin and the Pirates.
And to you, you blogger and non blogger friends alike, thank you for a great year. Thank you for your kind words, your support, your love. Happy New Year...

Shoeaddict Asks

What are you doing for New Year's Eve?
What are you doing for New Year's Day?
We are very cool. We are staying home. I invited Little Brother and Gussy over but they have not said yes or no. We plan to- watch football, some movies, eat yummy non-diet stuff, drink some house wine and watch the fireworks the little kidlets pop in the neighborhood. Last year we did nothing NYE because we went to the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
I have no idea what we will do on New Year's Day. I'm sure it will involve more football. And more eating.

Over It

Christmas came and went and left boxes and paper and cards in it's wake. Today, that is what I am dealing with. I want the boxes to leave. I want the new presents to find a home (not my dining room table). I want the glitter and tinsel and fake berry garland to climb back into the big Rubbermaid box and hibernate until next December.

I want my regular tv schedule back. I'm sick of reruns and cheesy holiday movies and specials. I want my House and Desperate Housewives and GOSSIP GIRL!! I did watch more Weeds and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Netflix Instant Movie Queue. Fab.

I am NOT over the holiday food. We are serious about food over here and my grandmother and Mom are excellent cooks. I love fried turkey and we had that for Christmas at Mom and Dad's. I still have a little bit left in a baggie and I want it but I don't want it to be gone! Ditto for the sweet potato crunch. I love, love, love sweet potato crunch. And the cornbread dressing. It was all just delish! I got a scale and I found out that I LOST 3.5 pounds since December 12. YAY!!

So, are you over it?

So This Is Christmas

I hope that everyone has had and will continue to have a very Merry Christmas and Holiday week. Mine has been good. I've eaten waaaaaaay too much, got some really great gifts, and seen some long-lost family members. Today, all of that continues...

We went to my grandparents' new house on Christmas Eve evening (as usual) with my mom's brother, his wife and their four children, plus the six of us (mom, dad, little bro, Gus, Blue and me). The food was great. The house is great. The company was great. Then, the six of us went to mom and dad's to open our gifts. That was fun!

I got a great purse! I LOVE it. It's brown with fringe on it. I like fringe, a lot. Blue makes fun of it and calls it an Indian purse. Oh Well. I also got some great pj's, coasters, a bracelet (from my grandma), a scale and an ipod! Blue got a ton of great stuff too. We are very blessed to have such a generous and loving family.

Yesterday, for Christmas, we went to my mom and dad's. My dad's sister (who is my godmother and I call her Nanny) and her husband and my cousin and her family were there. My cousin, Jen, has 3 little boys and they are so cute. Christmas is so much funner with kids. Again, we had a great meal and spent good time together.

Today, we will drive a little to go to Nanny's house. Her youngest son is coming in from out-of-state and I cannot wait to see him. He and I were very, very close growing up and I have not seen him in a long time. Nanny's oldest son, his wife and their three children will be there, too. They have an adorable, smart, funny little girl named Arlee,4. They also just had twins in July! I've never met them face to face. I've talked about them here on the blog though. I'm happy about that.

I'm not happy that I have not slept well in days. Seriously, it's getting OLD. I am tired and I look really awful. I'm weaning off of another medication, it's not as bad as the K from last year, but it's not a picnic. I am guessing that is what is causing some of the problem. I'm having a lot of jitters, anxiety, which I've dealt with for a long time. I am also just dealing with some very personal things that are difficult. I beg you for your prayers, good thoughts and support.

My love to you all...

The Spirit

I'm watching a news story about people writing letters to Santa that are made public. Then, I guess, the public has the opportunity to read and "be" Santa for these people. In some of the letters children ask for their mommy's happiness or just a nice thing for Christmas. It's really sweet and touching.

One of the BEST things about Christmas is giving. Giving of yourself, giving of love, kind words to a neighbor, giving of new make up (hee hee), or a new toy, cookies. Christmas is Jesus, it's Magic, it's Family, it's Children, it's Food.

Wishing you all of that and much, much more...

Merry Christmas!

Queue

I've rediscovered my LOVE of Netflix. I watched Entourage season 4 this weekend (Oh, so good!)(very weird, the episode about Heath Ledger) and now, I'm onto Weeds season 1.

I'm watching Weeds on the Instant Movie Viewer. I am loving it. Mary Louise Parker is just fantastic. I know this show is not for all of you. I KNOW it's not. I wouldn't recommend it to all of you but some of you may like it. Elizabeth Perkins is also brilliant. Oh, and so are the boys. Do you watch?

Recent movies I've watched: Black Snake Moan (Justin Timberlake surprisingly good), Happy Endings, Sweeney Todd and coming soon- Atonement, Burn After Reading and There Will Be Blood. And, of course, more Weeds.

Merry Christmas From The Family

I'm super dizzy and I can't lay down so, I'm sitting up in my chair. I'm watching this movie/documentary on USA called The Great American Christmas. If you get a chance- watch it! It follows six different families (or people, groups, whatever) in the few days leading up to Christmas. It's fascinating.

NATE & MICHELE- Nate is a speed skater who is preparing to race for a spot on the Olympic team. He and Michele just bought a house (in Park City) and they are hosting her parents for the holiday. OH GOOD LORD- Michele's mom is so annoying!

The SAWYERS- Cheryll and her family in Chicago are having a HUGE Christmas Eve. She has a teenage daughter and a five year old son and for the first time since she's been married, she is hosting both her side of the family and her in-laws for C.E. They are expecting about 100 people in their house that night. This lady! Her huge buffet collapses in the middle of the prayer. Food goes everywhere. It's not funny (but, you know, it is).

REPO & ANI- It's Repo's first Christmas out of jail. He's trying to give his family a good holiday with him. He wants to show them that he has changed. They are sweet.

The SCHULLERS- This family lives in Laguna Beach. The dad is a Reverend at The Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA where they put on a huge Christmas pageant, "The Glory of Christmas." The Reverend's wife, Donna, is very worried about what to buy her children- a teenaged boy and girl. On Christmas Day, when they are opening gifts, the daughter makes fun of a purse the mom bought her. To the mom. Yeah, veeeerrrrrry nice.

SHANE- He's driving 3,000 miles, from NYC to LA, to move in with his girlfriend. He's on a deadline because he's been putting off the move and she has told him, "by Christmas or else." So, he's driving and he meets people.

TED & DREW- My favs. Ted and Drew are a nice gay couple living in LA. Ted is bringing Drew home to meet his Southern Baptist family in Illinois (I think). Ted's family has never really accepted him and so he's never brought a boy home. -ok. This was THE best family to watch. From the get-go, when Ted's mom (in her bright red holiday cardigan and matching earrings!) and step-dad pick the guys up at the airport ("Do you guys want to go get something to eat? I got some chicken wings fried, the grease is blotted off, just for you, Ted. Or we could go to Steak & Shake, if that's what you want!") to when they say the prayer over the meal and do "Yay God!" Ted's dad isn't speaking to him and his brother, Bobby, doesn't want to meet Drew. Ted is very upset about this. It's sad. Bobby eventually comes around but acts like an a*s most of the time. I understand not wanting your kid to be gay. I understand not believing in it. I understand being disappointed. I just DO NOT understand treating your own child, brother, family like that. And he wants them to like him so much.

The show is narrated by Howie Mandel. He talks (a little tongue-in-cheek) about what Christmas means to each family/person and what each person wants from Christmas. What about you? What does Christmas mean to you?

Scramblin'

It's the Saturday before Christmas and, no, all my gifts aren't bought. Not one of them is wrapped and my cards- not out.

Mom is treating Gus and me to a little spa morning (facial and mani for me), and then for the rest of the day I WILL do what needs to be done. I might manage to get my Christmas cards out before Christmas. I'm never this late with them. Oh well.

I've only received TWO! I guess no one has our new address. OR no one likes us. Whatever. We do usually get more than this by now. I will chalk it up to the move. I knew I should've sent out "change of address" cards.

EDITED- Today, Monday, we received Five Christmas cards.

Picture Day

Dad and I went to BestBUy and bought one of those memory card thingys. You take the card out of the camera and stick it into thingy, plug the thingy into the computer and voila! I can get my pictures on the screen. So, here are just a few of the pics I've taken in the past few months. They are in backwards order, of course, from the way I wanted them. The most recent ones are first going back to October.
Last Thursday- my footprints and the front/side of our house covered in snow! My poor plants.

Little bro at Buffalo Wild Wings for the LSU vs Ole Miss game

Little Bro and Gus with some crazy guy at Blue Dog Cafe.
No, really, that's Christopher. He's a family friend.

He made this duck appetizer for us.

Me! The day I got my hair cut off.
It looks like this again.

Just got her braces off in this picture.
Isn't she gorgeous?

My plant, kitchen sink and window.
I LOVE that window!
I have not killed the plant yet either which is a miracle.
Look at these ya-hoos!
That is our couch!! YAY :)

Our entertainment center, big tv, and the hallway (fireplace on other side)
Also, Blue's guitar case which doesn't go there

Also, I was mid-blink. Don't I look drunk?
I'm not.
I have Christmas party pics, too. If you're not bored to death from pictures now. I'll let these sit for awhile.

Bluck Withdrawl- Shakes & Shivers

Anyone else really missing Gossip Girl?

I know that this isn't my TV blog but not a lot of people read that blog so I'm posting here. Anyway, I heart Gossip Girl. Big, big heart. That and House are probably my very favorite shows.

Gossip Girl does have some good stuff coming up next year. **Possible SPOILERS!!- I hear that Blair and Nate may be getting close again. Hmmmm? I love Chuck and Blair. But, if they were to actually get together for real, it wouldn't be nearly as fun, right? Also, Dan and Blair will play opposite each other in the school play. What does that mean for the rivals?

January 5th is the first episode back and it's called, "In the Realm of the Basses". We meet Bart Bass' brother, Jack, and Chuck spirals downward in a bender in Bangkok.

The January 12th episode is called "Gone With the Will," and in it Chuck finds out that per his father's will, he will become the CEO of Bass Industries. He also agrees to Jack becoming his legal guardian.

Then, the January 19th episode is called, "You've Got Yale," which means that the college of choice by Blair (and more) is at the fore front. (Did ya'll know that in the GG books, Blair's mom and Cyrus have a baby and Blair names her Yale.)

Other TV dates to look forward to-

Let me know what you are looking forward to and if there is a show you want to know more about.

We just got a Christmas card addressed to Shoe & Blue (our last name). How cute is that? I'd link to the blogger, Katie, but her blog is private.

P.S. Those are not our real names. I've gotten a few emails about it and Blue is not my husband's real name.

Holly, Jolly Christmas

First, I want to say Happy Birthday to Gus, aka SIL, aka Shannon. I've already texted her, told her Happy Birthday on Facebook and talked to her (plus I'll see her in an hour and be with her all night) but I gotta give her a shout out here. SO, Happy Birthday, SIL. I love you. You are so gorgeous and smart and fun. I love that we are getting married soon and you'll be a part of the family forever. Feet.

Tonight we are going to a Christmas party for my family's company- A+ Corporation. My immediate family (husband, mom, dad, bro, SIL) will be there and so will my grandparents (on my mom's side)(my daddy's parents have both passed away sadly) and my uncle and aunt. I know a lot of people that work there and so I am looking forward to it.

I have not seen my parents or my husband this week because they have all been out-of-town. My parents were in New Mexico and Blue was in Atlanta, GA on business. I am looking forward to spending time with them. Whenever the 6 of us get together (which is very often) we always have a lot of fun.

This is what I'm wearing-

Bandolino Input Boots Black
Avenue tank
I meant for the shirt to be first but you all know how I'm so challenged at posting the pictures. I am pairing this with black trouser pants that are cuffed. I don't have a picture of those but you know what black pants look like. I will take lots of pictures there but I cannot promise that you'll ever see them :) Sorry! I also have a red sweater (cardigan) to go over the top of the tank. I hate my arms.
I am obviously not wearing a necklace because of the bling but I'm thinking about what earrings to wear. Hmmmm?? And bracelet. I LOVE bracelets. I have a ton so I'll find something. Maybe something black?
Oh, I went to get my hair colored and cut today and they didn't have me on the books! I was freaking out. They had a girl there for just a few days a while ago who had no idea what she was doing and had to be let go and apparently she had made the appointment. Of course Corey, my hair god, was swamped. The front desk girl- Nicole- felt really bad and did get me in for a color but no cut. I need one badly. Oh, well. I know that I'll be able to get something soon.
Hope you have a nice weekend!

It's A Christmas Miracle!

It's snowing really hard here in south Louisiana. It's absolutely beautiful and amazing. I took tons of pictures but cannot show you. Sorry. I was marveling at how we have had some crazy weather this year: a major hurricane and now snow!

I'm so excited. It looks really Christmasy.

Updated- It's 10pm and I'm watching the news and hearing that Tangipahoa Parish got as much as 8". Some people's roof collapsed in Amite. I cannot even imagine having your roof damage by snow in Louisiana. I also hear that it's supposed to be in the 70s this weekend. We'll all have pneumonia.

Fab Food!

I eat so many apples it's ridiculous. If you are what you eat, I am a PINK LADY apple. Seriously, I eat at least one a day, if not more.

This week, however, they did not have Pink Lady apples where I went to the grocery so I bought some Honeycrisps. Oh my granny they are absolutely fabulous. I love, love, love them.

Also, go see my friend Crissy for some fabulous gourmet dips, spreads, brownie and cornbread mixes and other goodies at her Etsey shop. She is great! Tell her that I sent you ;)

P.S. I'm also craving chips and salsa lately. Let's do Mexican this weekend! No? P.F.Changs for SIL's birthday!! (it's Friday)

Smokey Snow

It's supposed to SNOW tonight! It's already snowing in Houston, I hear. It's cold and rainy here. SIL and I went to the mall to try and find something to wear on Friday for the (work) Christmas party and we got wet and cold.

We had fun! Except I felt stupid in this one store. It was the first one we went into (in case she reads this). They have very cute clothes and I loved so many things but the girl only asked SIL if she needed help. I think sometimes that happens when you are fat. You are definitely more invisible. Or just dismissed. I wanna be cute too. HELLO!

Anyway, I almost burned down the house when I got back. GEESH! My brain is on vacation or something. When I got back from the mall, I thought that I'd heat up the rest of the soup I had for lunch. I put it on the stove and went in the back to change. While I was in my bathroom, I realized that I needed band aids (badly) and some other stuff. I threw on my sweats, grabbed my keys and LEFT. Yep, I left the house and went to the pharmacy (just up the street), for 30 minutes, with the pot on the stove!!

I remembered it on the way back. After I'd leisurely picked out the perfect red fingernail polish, talked to the saleslady and smelled the lotion. I sped down the street, parked the car and ran into the smoke-filled house. POOR PUPPY! She was going crazy. I can't open the windows though because they have all these crazy latches and you have to have more than two hands. Unfortunately, I have just the two. It's clearing out though- the smoke.

Always drama with Shoeaddict! OH! Speaking of, we saw the greatest red pumps at ALDO. I almost threw up in there I was so happy.

Hollywood Babies

Celeb babies born in December-

Amy Jo Johnson and her fiance, Oliver Giner, welcomed a daughter on December 1. The baby was named FRANCESCA CHRISTINE.

Donovan McNabb and his wife, Roxie, welcomed fraternal twins (a boy and a girl) on Tuesday, December 2. The twins joined big sister, ALEXIS. Their names have not been released.

Gena Lee Nolin gave birth to a daughter, STELLA MONROE, on Wednesday, December 3. Stella joins big brother, HUDSON LEE. Gena and her husband, Cale Hulse, had children from previous relationships- CAIA and SPENCER.

Eric Mabius and his (wonderful, brave, fabulous, princess) wife, Ivy Sherman (you'll see why such adjectives in a second) welcomed their second son, RYLAN JAXSON, on Sunday. Rylan weighed a little more than 10 pounds. Did you catch that??? WHAT? Yes, he did. He joins big brother, MAXFIELD ELLIOT.

Nigel Barker and wife Christen Chin Barker welcomed their second child, a girl, on Sunday. JASMINE INES was born in New York City and joins big brother, JACK.

Names to pick apart

Francesca Christine- I like Francesca. It's totally my kinda girl name- long and feminine and flowy. I like the nickname Frannie. I don't really love Christine because that is what my own name gets confused with.
Alexis- I don't hate it. I wouldn't use it. I used to love it, in the 90s. I feel like almost every family that has multiples, major multiples (4! 6!), there is an Alexis.
Stella Monroe- I like this a lot. I love Monroe with Stella. I love Monroe as a middle name.
Hudson Lee- I like Hudson. I think it's pretty "right now". Lee is a name that a lot of people in my family have. It's good together.
Caia- I don't love it. I really don't like the spelling.
Spencer- I have negative connotations to this name.
Rylan Jaxson- Rylan is okay. Jaxson, I like better as Jackson.
Maxfield Elliot- I like Max but not Maxfield. I'm not a huge fan of Elliot.
Jasmine Ines- Jasmine is the Disney princess. I guess I have no room to talk since I love the name Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) but I'm not actually going through with naming my child that.

What do you think?

The Gift of The Bath

When we were looking for houses, one thing that I HAD to have was a nice bathroom. I wanted a big tub with the jets and a nice separate shower. I got that and I am not disappointed. Here are some of my very favorite things that have to do with a good bath. Maybe you can find a good gift for someone.

Full disclosure- I don't own one of these awesome Canyon Group robes but I want one badly. They are made of chenille and are so adorable. They are kinda expensive ($132) but they are so comfy and gorgeous! The robes have appeared on TV and in the movies. They come in sizes Small (6-8), Medium (10-12), Large (14) and X-Large (16). They also have Plus sized robes in some of the same designs. There are really cute ones, here are just a few:
Martinis
Glamour Girl
comes in lilac or pink
(this is the one I MIGHT want)

Fifi

Blue Butterfly

I really am the QUEEN of the bath products. Really, really, really. If I sold all the stuff I have right now, I could pay my mortgage. I'm not even kidding. Philosophy has the greatest stuff ever in the bath. I also want this, you know, in case you decide to buy me a gift! If you are looking for something for yourself, your mom, sister, etc...

Pure Grace
16oz-$16.00
24oz-$30.00
Foaming Bath and Shower Cream
This stuff is fabulous. It's really creamy (I use it to shave sometimes and I have the worst sensitive skin) and rich. The smell is so fabulous, too. I love it. It's mild and light and clean. I love it in the winter.

Cinnamon Buns
16oz- $16.00
24oz-$20.00
3-in-1 Ultra Rich
Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
This is the most decadent stuff you can use in the bath. I love it to relax and soak- it's not good in the morning! It's the very best on a cold, winter day because of the great spicy smell. It does smell like Cinnamon Buns but the top notes are not sweet, they are more spicy and warm. I bet that you'll love it! I also have the lip balm and it's okay. It's a little Red Hots for me.
Another company I LOVE in the tub is L'Occitane. I love them all the time, actually. We just got a little L'Occitane store in the mall and I am thinking of going to work there. The one drawback- there is only one person at a time working! I will get bored. So, back to the products, they are so fabulous! I think you should own at least one thing from this place. Sephora also sells them. And Philosophy.

The Lavender Spa
$41.30
Limited Edition!
Lavender is something I cannot live without. I discovered my true love for it while in the middle of suffering from terrible migraines. Lavender is a natural calmer and L'Occitane has simply the best. If you love lavender scent and you have never smelled this one, you MUST! Also great, the candle. The reason L'Occitane's lavender is the best- lavender grows in Aix en Provence in France and that is where L'Occitane originates. My mom has been there.

Butterfly Lavender Joyful Mood Body Cream
$32.00
Limited Edition

This is another thing that is on my wish list. I have this and I love it.

Almond Shower Oil
Travel Size
$8.00
I love this stuff. I pour it in the running water and it smells so fabulous. It's an oil so it is very super moisturizing and doesn't dry you out. I don't even use lotion on the days that I use this in the bath.

Other stuff I love from there is this (I want this!) and this. I took my MIL to the little shop when they were here and she loved it. She told me she wanted something from there for Christmas but I don't remember! AGH!!!

Do you need any gift ideas? Maybe I can help! Let me know.

Not Just Ugly

Do you or your children wear Crocs? My mom gave me her pair because she hated them but I never ever ever wear them. EVER.

Anyway, I read that they are dangerous on escalators and some parents are suing the company! They say that Crocs are outdoor shoes not made for indoors and that Crocs (the company) knows this and never did anything about it.

Read here and here for more.

Do you watch Daytime soaps?
I'm a fan of General Hospital and Days of our Lives (on and off). I KNOW that it's cheesy and silly and bad but I LOVE IT. When I was little, the lady who took care of us watched all the NBC soaps- Days, Another World and Santa Barbara. Those last two aren't on anymore but I've been watching Days since I was a little kid.
I got hooked on GH when I lived with my SIL Haley in Georgia. I love bad boy Sonny so much I can't stand it! I know that the story lines are unbelievable and outlandish but I love all of the over-the-top stuff. I love the clothes, the jewels, the money, the names, the weddings, the drama! It's a guilty pleasure.

Who Wants To Come With? ETA

I would totally go see Britney Spears in concert. I HATE clowns and circus things though so, I wouldn't like it if it were an hour and a half of that. I wonder when she'll be back in here in her home state with the tour?

ETA- Amy, who lives in LA, too, says that the 2009 tour, called The Circus Starring Britney Spears, opens on March 3, 2009 in New Orleans. And, to you, Miss Lindsay, Brit will be in Salt Lake City at the EnergySolutions Arena on April 14.

Little J- Hate Myself For Lovin You

the right is Taylor Momsen's new 'do

I love Taylor Momsen's new haircut. I've heard that a lot of people don't like it and compare it to Joan Jett's hair. I LOVE it. A lot. I cannot express how much. Well, I guess I can say that I saw her hair on GG and then that following Friday cut my own hair.

A Little Rant

You are not allowed to say that you are not a "child" person when YOU ALREADY HAVE A CHILD. Even though that child is from another relationship and you were young and stupid then and now you and your new (b**chy) wife don't have time for said child.

Get a hold of YOURSELF! Take care of your responsabilites! Grow up!

I just had to get that off my chest.
