Me and Bobby McGee
I love shoes. We know that. I also love the theatre. I got a dose of both this weekend when I was invited to a fundraising gala at our local community theatre. The "gala", which was really just a fancy schmancy word for "dinner theatre", was on Saturday night at 8pm and it got coooold here on Saturday morning. Well, cold for us. The dress that I wanted to wear needed some boots and tights. I love, love, love this look on other people but I've never tried it on myself. I decided to head over to DSW and see what I could find. I had never been to DSW because my area just got one. OH MY GOOD GRACIOUS! It was like the angels started singing when I opened the doors. Seriously. I could've danced and twirled but I managed to pull myself together. There were a few rows of boots. I didn't know what kinda pair I wanted so I circled a few (twenty) times, looking and thinking and touching. Then, over toward the back, I saw a separate Steve Madden boot display. I went over and fell in love.
I don't have a picture of the dress but it's very flowy and hippy-looking. It's very me. I wore it and my new boots, big earrings- I looked like a dressy Janis Joplin. I liked the outfit so I will wear it again and get a pic. The play was Ira Levin's Deathtrap. I have no idea, are you supposed to italicize that? Anyway, it was fabulous!! We ate dinner (salad, steamed veggies, pasta, pudding, wine) and then watched the show. It was funny and a little scary. I can always count on a great time at the theatre. Also, a small piece of my heart is heavy because I'd LOVE to be on stage. I cannot wait to go to NYC and see a show (or two) on Broadway.

Happy Birthday, Paw Paw Harry
Today is my Paw Paw Harry's birthday. He died the February before Luke and I got married. I miss him every single day. I loved him and admired him and am sad that he is not here. I know that he is better off but I am selfish. He was so cute!
Happy Birthday, Paw Paw.

Going On
- I'm busy and exhausted! I don't know why I'm so tired but I am. I'm doing my chores like a walking Zombie.
- Shannon and I (along with her mom and sister- the Maid of Honor) went to the bridal show on Sunday. There were some great things there. I know that a photographer and a DJ is still needed. There are lots of photographer choices, too. Everything is so expensive but there are some lovely things. PLUS, I had cake.
- I'm sick of the same websites being shut down EVERY night for "maintenance"- it drives me crazy.
- I've been wanting pancakes for weeks and weeks and still have not had them.
- Do you watch The Closer? I love it.
- Flipping Out coming on tonight!!! My love for Jeff Lewis knows no bounds.
- Speaking of TV, I'm going to do a big post on the TV blog soon about the shows that got canceled and the ones that are coming back. If you have a question about a TV show, email me or leave a comment. I'll let you know when that post is ready.

Hope You Watched...
Scattered, random thoughts (as I'm watching) on Flipping Out:-Jeff is mean to poor Frank. -Overuse of the word 'like' by Erin and Jeff right off the bat. -I like little Erin.-I LOVE how Chris K thinks that riding a bus is demeaning but picking up dog poo and turning bottled water around in the fridge and taking lunch orders and all the other crazy tasks he does for Jeff are not. His job is demeaning. -Jenni amazes me with her facial expressions or lack thereof. Jeff does the same thing. -I love Ryan. He is so cute. LOVE his hair and clothes. I want him to be my friend. I like when he fights with Jeff. I like when we see them fight, we see Jeff's POV and then Ryan's. Funny-Jeff & Jenni in the car= my favorite! ("a sugary soda, I think that sounds good.")-I FREAKING love that Jenni won't tell him where she lives. I love it. (..."she won't give me any personal information, thinking I'm somehow gonna track her down. Which I would. My first inclination is that maybe she's gonna break up with me but also she could be, ummm, establishing some sort of boundaries.")-I could never see Jeff and Ryan together! -GOD, Jeff! He's being mean to someone who is helping them with the open house. -I love the house on Valley Oak. I love the bathroom and the floors and the windows. -Awwww, Jenni, I like your hair curly SO MUCH BETTER!! -Erin's message and Jeff's response is priceless. -Oh, the crazy cat food conversation! -Who would be crazy enough to give Jeff Louis a key to their apartment? He's throwing things away and straightening her stuff! -Oh yay! An Exorcism. Ryan's face... this woman is gonna cough up a lung! Gross. She sounds like a 2 pack-a-day smoker.-Aaaaand it's Courtney with a hat. Why does she want to look like that? -Love the kitchen hood that Ryan was showing her in the picture... all that wood, gorgeous-Oh, good gracious, Chris asked for time off. *GASP* -I want to go to Steven-Thomas. I saw a dream bed. - Jeff: "Zoila, what do you like about Chris?" Zoila: rolls eyes and shrugsI cannot wait for next week. Drama! Labels: funny, Jeff Lewis, love, TV

Window Shopping
I've been looking around at some handbags and shoes and thought I'd show you some of my favorites at three different sites(Zappos.com, Piperlime.com & Stevemadden.com). Here are just a few picks from each.
I did Zappos last and wanted to just show some of my favorite Lucky Brand handbags. The trend for the Fall is jewel toned colors & especially deep blue (like the KOOBA)(Piperlime) and purple. Lucky Brand has really pretty tan/brown ones though. I like LB because they look kinda hippy-ish. Do you wear the same purse for every season? Are you shopping for a new one (like me)?
Zappos:

Lucky Brand Stripes-Round Hobo (dune)$192.00

Lucky Brand New Francoise (mulberry)$182.00
Piperlime.com is having a huge sale. Handbags and shoes are both on sale. All *s denote my VERY favorite of the favorites. I didn't do * for the handbags.

The Louisiana Fairy and Cupcake

Here are a few pictures of my sweet, sweet Cupcake. Look at those curls! Those eyes! And lips! Those eyelashes! When I first held her, when she was only 4 days old, I told her, "You will love diamonds, pearls and shoes!" Her mommy said it was like one of the fairies in Sleeping Beauty. I am Cupcake's Louisiana fairy.
Isn't her shirt cute, too? She has Mardi Gras colored beads in her hair in the above photo. This child is so beautiful and she has an infectious laugh. We love her so much!

Sunny Stila Shadow
I've talked before about my deep love for Stila eye shadow. I've been using all the ones I've talked about in that post and just loving them. My mom has all the talking smokey eye quads. I should get commission from them. Well, anyway, I was reading (excitedly) about the new colors for the season and then later looking at the new makeup online when I found this gem. Stila Summer Eye Shadow Palette is a Limited Edition at Sephora. It includes 6 fantastic colors and a mirror in a cute, sleek gold compact. I got it today and I LOVE it. I've been playing with it all day long. The colors are (from R to L):- Ray- A shimmering copper gold that you can use alone on lids for a great summer look.
- Mystic- shimmering aqua blue "bold shade for summer soirees" from the description of the palette
- Kitten- shimmering nude pink that I have in the Stila pot. I love it. It can be used as a highlighter or a base tone color. The best color and shadow.
- Wheat- pearlescent beige "perfect base for a bronzed eye" (which I will be sporting tomorrow!)
- Prize- soft gold shimmer (I've already put this color on and love it. I put it on over what I had and like it. I was wearing this too which doesn't really match.)
- Sun- shimmering golden peach "sunny sparkle for day or night"
I'm super excited to wear this all out. I'll wear it soft and pretty during the day this week, but I can't wait to see what I can do with it for night!! How I can "tart" it up.

Edge Of My Seat
I needed some books for my trip to St Thomas. I picked up two and then just couldn't get into them for one reason or another. This sometimes happens to me. I like them and I did begin to get into one on the way back home.
We were in St Thomas and on Monday, the third day we were there, I needed to stay in because I was sick. I roamed around the living room and saw that there was a collection of books in an armoire-type thing. I found one called Alone by Lisa Gardner. I was drawn to it immediately because I have another one of her books and I liked it a lot. I picked it up and went out to the pool.
This book is amazing! It was hard for me to put it down at night to go to sleep. By the time we were ready to pack up and go home I wasn't finished with the book yet. My mom and brother told me that I couldn't take it even if I left a note and money. UGH! I got home and immediately ordered it from Amazon.
It is so action packed and scary. I would get freaked out but I couldn't abandon it. It was so good and I definitely recommend it to all of you who enjoy murder mystery and mayhem. Labels: Book Review, books, love

OH. MY. GOD!
I love the TIGERS! I'm screaming as much as I can (I've been having a migraine with nausea- ugh) and so is Layla.
The scene- Tigers down three, bases loaded and my man, Blake Dean, hits a 3-RBI DOUBLE!! That put the score at 6-5 and the Tigers win!
It was beeeeeeeeeeeeautiful!
Now I have to lay back down before I pass out.

A Celebrity Christmas Wedding
In Park City, Utah yesterday (Sunday) Katherine Heigl wed musician Josh Kelly in a small, 30-minute ceremony. T.R Knight (who was also a groomsman), Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers and Kate Walsh were all at the Stein Eriksen Lodge to watch as the Unitarian minister officiated. Katherine wore Oscar de la Renta and walked down the aisle to a song written by her fiancee (now husband). They exchanged vows they wrote themselves- awwwwww! A reception followed.
My friend IRL and Diary reader, Sarah was married on December 15th! She just returned from her honeymoon and I am just so so so happy for her!! I have not gotten to speak with her yet so, no word on weather T.R Knight was there. ;) She was gorgeous, I'm sure and we'll see if she'd like to "guest post" and tell us all about the wedding. Congratulations Sarah and Jeremy!!! Love to you xoxox

Christmas With Muffin & Friends
Always a clown
I could EAT.HIS.FACE.
Twinsies, Bonnie & Clyde
Look at the sweet godson in his froggie towel
Isn't this the cutest outfit ever?
Babies and My Muffin... Love it, love it! My Muffin asked to call me a bunch of times lately. He wants to call "Kwissen." So cute!!
Funny Muffin-ism: Lin got a CC with an angel on it. She is holding a wand and flying over baby Jesus' manger. Muffin said, "Wook, it's majick!" Then, "It's where Chicken Little lives!" How freaking funny is that?

Rockstars
These are some of the pictures from Saturday night. We all met at mom and daddy's house. The limo picked us up there. These are Gus' pictures (from her camera). Keith and Susan (my uncle and aunt) took more and I hope to get some of those. Then you can see the kidlets, too. It was adorable to see them in the limo. We asked them if it was what they expected and it was fun to hear their answers. Maria, the oldest (14), described a very "movie-like" version with the seats on both sides. This one was not like that. It had a long bench seat on one side with the bars on the other. Then, a little two seater "love seat" (where Luke and I sat)facing forward. Behind that was a curved three seater. There were movie screens throughout, with two larger ones in front of the main bench. We watched Open Season on the way back. We didn't get to finish it, though, now I have to rent it. On the way to the restaurant, we stopped for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne which I loved! We'd had some champagne Thursday night (toasting Zoe) but, I think I like this kind better. No offense, Isabelle and Olivier!! I'm not really a wine drinker, or any kind of drinker, really. If I do, though, it's usually this. Anyway, we got our champagne and Justin made a beautiful toast to Papa and his success. We are still celebrating his becoming an ISA Fellow. Saturday, December 8th was also Papa's mother's (my great-grandmother) birthday. She died not very long ago. We also toasted her. Just in case you are like me and want to know what people eat when they go out, I'll tell you what I remember. Shannon (Gus) and I split the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer (yum). Maria and Madison split the shrimp cocktail but hated it. Very funny because they had no idea what it was. Why'd they order it? No clue. We had dinner salads and some people also had seafood gumbo. I had the lump crab au gratin with a stuffed baked potato. It was good if a little bland for my taste. Could've used a little of this in my opinion. I put Tony's in everything. Gus had Tilapia, Luke had a steak that was still bleeding as usual, daddy had a crab dinner (crab au gratin, stuffed crab, crab fingers...) and mom had catfish. Those were the people who were sitting near me. I know Kenzie had half of a hamburger and Daniel had chicken fingers. I could've guessed that even if I wasn't there, though. This place has homemade ice cream, too. Oreo, nutty coconut, Tabasco, fig preserve, vanilla, and they were out of chocolate. I got the Oreo (my favorite kind) and it was awesome. Gus and mom got coconut and it was very good. Papa got the Tabasco and I tried it. Very interesting. Tabasco has a sweet flavor at first, then it has a bite. I couldn't eat a bowl but, I'm glad I tried it. I wish someone would've gotten the fig because I love figs. It was such a great night! I'm so blessed to have such a happy, healthy, loving, funny family. Also, such kind, generous, loving grandparents. You wanna see pictures? These were taken in mom's driveway. So Beautiful

I got to participate in a wonderful experience tonight. Two fantastic, wonderful, sweet people arrived in Louisiana with their brand new daughter, Zoe'. I went with my mom, uncle and cousin to meet them at the airport. The couples' names are Isabel and Olivier. Zoe' is so so tiny and so very sweet. Being a part of this has been such a blessing. Zoe' is such a blessing. I'm excited to spend more time with all of them. Isabel may want me to blog about their experience here or on a different, separate blog. She is a Diary reader. Isn't that cool? I'm just so excited.
Welcome to the world, Zoe'!
