Checking In

Hi, friends!

Sorry that I have been MIA for over a week but I don't have my computer. Layla chewed the power cord- again- and I had to order a new one. It won't be in until this Friday. It's amazing how lost I am without it. I don't know what is going on in the world!

Right now, I'm catching up on Blue's computer but it's not always easy for me to use it. It's his work laptop and he takes it with him during the day and is on it when he gets home. He does a lot of work on it and he plays too.

I will be back as soon as I can. Don't forget about me!

For now, tell me what you did for Valentine's Day.
-Blue sent me flowers and a teddy bear and candy on Friday. Friday night, my family went out to eat (13 of us because one was missing). I had the spicy tuna and shrimp boil soup. I had never had a tuna steak and it was ok. I think that more sauce would've been better.

Saturday morning, I got some flowers from my dad. SIL, mom and I went shopping at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. First, we had to go to Sarah T's and it was so great to see her. It was only for a minute or two, though. I was there to pick up her bag of goodies for baby Kate's family. Then, we went to an old high school friends' house to bring all of the stuff to her. Then, we went shopping.

Saturday night, Blue grilled hamburgers for Justin, SIL and me. It was very low key but fun. I forgot about the french fries and started cooking them late. We had them for dessert. I still feel guilty about it. Then, we watched a little of Christopher Titus' comedy special on Comedy Central. I love stand-up comedy. Then, I watched some more of my DVR'ed shows from last week.

10 of 21

I'm behind. I'm sorry. Today was kinda slow and yucky in the beginning. This is the first week off of the Topamax and I'm having trouble sleeping at night. I'm hanging in there though and am proud of my accomplishment.

Today, I prayed for kindness and patience and skinnier hips.

This post will be followed up with a better one for tomorrow. I'm sorry this one was so bad.

Also, I wanted to say a HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend, Sarah T. HERE is last year's post about Sarah. I love you, Sarah and I hope you had a great day.

Blast From the Past

This was going to be a "Question of the Day" but, I wanted to expand on it. I went to high school at a school where I knew no one. This school is a K-12 school. It even has daycare so, one could potentially go there from infancy to 18 years old. I did not. I went to a Catholic School from grades K-8 then, when all my friends went to other Catholic schools or the local public schools, I chose my school.

This is the school where I met Sarah. Hi Sarah! ::Waving:: Here's the thing, I left school at the very beginning of my senior year on my doctor's orders. I got sick with mono my sophomore year. More specifically, I was diagnosed on my sixteenth birthday (January 17, 1997). I was very sick with it for a long time. It compromised my immune system and messed it up for forever. I ended up in the hospital for a week in April.

I began getting horribly debilitating migraines with aura in November of my Junior year. I had all of the types of auras- visual, sensory, even going out of my mind. I was rarely in school and the stress of it all was a lot for me and my parents. Some of my teachers and some of my peers were not helpful or understanding and that was also a problem. I ended up studying from home through LSU correspondence courses and getting a GED.

I got my diploma from my local public school and it was in the year that I would've graduated anyway- 1999. When I left school I had a 3.5 average. I took my ACTs (we don't do SATs in LA) in 7th grade and in 11th. In 11th I scored an overall 29 (a 31 in English which is one of my biggest accomplishments!!!) and even still, I had a huge complex about the GED. Eventually, I got over it.

I tell people I graduated in '99 because I did. I tell people I graduated from the school I went to when asked because it's the school I went to and it's easier than telling my entire life story. I never attended the school on my diploma so, that would be silly.

Lindsey and I were talking about high-school reunions the other night. I graduated a year ago next year. Lindsey graduated the year after me but, a friend of ours has her 10 year this year. Here's the thing- I (probably) won't even have a reunion. I didn't graduate from my school. It's 100% fine with me because I would not go. The only people I care to see or know are Sarah (and I know her and what she's up to) and my other friend from there, Leslie. I miss her. I don't know where she is but, she took my leaving hard. I was not sensitive about it with her and she was hurt. We have communicated in 10 years but, not in a while.

Lindsey feels the same way. No interest in seeing those people again. Nothing in common with them and no desire to spend a fake evening with them. But, the husbands- different story! Lindsey's husband is a little older than she is and his school had an entire weekend of events planned. They went to everything! He dragged her around to everything and showed her everything.

Luke graduated from a very, very small school that also went from K-12. He was Mr. Popular, played every sport, was on the State Champion football team 2 years, partyed ever weekend (and some weeknights)... You know. He will want to go. He is still really good friends with "the boys." YAY ::insert sarcasm::

My question-

Have you been to a high school reunion? Will you go? Why?

Happy Birthday

to my friend, SARAH!

She and I met early in our freshman year of high school. We have had some great, great times. I do have a scanner but it's not hooked up. Awwww. You should be sad because I have some very fabulous pictures. FAB. From high school... Imagine.

I'm nervous about sharing stories because Sarah might get mad but, if she does, I'll erase. One thing about Sarah and me, we laughed a lot. A lot, a lot. We did fight a lot, too. We were (are) both very opinionated, strong-willed, smart, sassy... it caused some problems sometimes. We had silly, silly, inside jokes-

I'm so happy for you, Sarah! I wish you well in your marriage, school and everything you do. Thank you very much for the memories.

A Celebrity Christmas Wedding

In Park City, Utah yesterday (Sunday) Katherine Heigl wed musician Josh Kelly in a small, 30-minute ceremony. T.R Knight (who was also a groomsman), Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers and Kate Walsh were all at the Stein Eriksen Lodge to watch as the Unitarian minister officiated. Katherine wore Oscar de la Renta and walked down the aisle to a song written by her fiancee (now husband). They exchanged vows they wrote themselves- awwwwww! A reception followed.

My friend IRL and Diary reader, Sarah was married on December 15th! She just returned from her honeymoon and I am just so so so happy for her!! I have not gotten to speak with her yet so, no word on weather T.R Knight was there. ;) She was gorgeous, I'm sure and we'll see if she'd like to "guest post" and tell us all about the wedding. Congratulations Sarah and Jeremy!!! Love to you xoxox

Fancy Sarah & Fancy Kesha

Sarah went all out for "FANCY HANNAH DAY" as you can see. She wore a sparkly shrug, a big green ring and she and her friend, Kesha, wore tiaras and carried fairy wands. Good job, Sarah & Kesha! Lookin' good.

Sarah & Jeremy

Sarah and I went to high school together
engagement picture

1) How long have you been married? How long have you been together?
Jeremy and I have been together for one year and six months. We have been engaged for three months.
2) How did you meet?
We actually met on eharmony. I had signed up for the service, and filled out the personality profile, but had not paid yet. He had signed up previously and we were matched up. He tried to communicate with me, but was unaware that I had not paid, thought I was ignoring him and moved on. His membership then expired, but he still received the emails about matches. Meanwhile, I paid and saw that he had ended communication with me, and sent him a message asking to communicate. Eharmony is a very intensive thorough online matching service and there are several steps you must take before you can see your match's picture or even freely email. He rejoined JUST so that he could talk to me, and we went through the communication stages (I think there were 5,) within 48 hours. We then talked on the phone for a week, every night, for HOURS. We went on our first date on December 9, 2005, and have been together ever since.
3) What do you admire the most about your partner?
I admire a lot of things about Jeremy. He is a very loyal person and a hard worker. He is extremely creative, which I think is so cool, because I am not. Mostly, he knows who he is, and he is not scared of anyone or anything, and I think that is awesome.
4) What do you fight about the most?
We don't really have an "issue" we fight about. We are both control freaks, and typically get in a fight for control. The root of the argument is normally really dumb and trivial. We also have argued more than once because during conversation, again about something mundane, one of us said something in a certain "tone" that the other didn't care for, and made him/her defensive. Then ridiculous arguing ensues.
5) How has your relationship grown/changed in the years(months)/time you've been together?
Jeremy and I sort of did things backwards. We fell inlove, then got to know each other, if that makes sense. We dove headfirst into a relationship, and moved in together after dating for two months I think. So, we have really worked at our relationship, especially because Katrina had just happened a few months before we met and left Jeremy homeless and jobless. We also have really overcome some of our personal faults. Example, I am typically very defensive, especially with men. I was always waiting for someone to hurt me, so Jeremy really helped me see that about myself, and move on from it. I think trust was an issue for both of us, because we had both been cheated on in previous relationships, and so that is something we worked really hard on. It ended up working out for us, despite the odds against us. We complement each other very well, and are not only madly in love but best friends, as well.
