Lindsey and I spent lots of time at Alex Box Stadium when we were, ahem, younger. We cheered our hearts out for Skip Bertman's team- Jason Williams, Chad Cooley, Trey McClure, Warren Morris and of course, MIKE KOERNER. Tonight the Tigers played their last game in the stadium and it's sad for me. I'll always remember that time of my life fondly. We still have each other and we still have LSU baseball even if Mike K is gone.
The boys are moving into a new stadium, to be named Alex Box, also. Alex Box is the name of an LSU football and baseball player who died in WWII. He died a hero and we love a hero here. Read the story HERE.

Happy Birthday
to my friend, SARAH!
She and I met early in our freshman year of high school. We have had some great, great times. I do have a scanner but it's not hooked up. Awwww. You should be sad because I have some very fabulous pictures. FAB. From high school... Imagine. I'm nervous about sharing stories because Sarah might get mad but, if she does, I'll erase. One thing about Sarah and me, we laughed a lot. A lot, a lot. We did fight a lot, too. We were (are) both very opinionated, strong-willed, smart, sassy... it caused some problems sometimes. What's Old is Cool
When I was a little girl, I loved Strawberry Shortcake. I had a "moterbike" and sleeping bag and the doll with the scented red hair. This is what she looked like back in the 80's when she was a friend of mine.
And here is little Miss Strawberry Shortcake now. All jazzed up for today's kids in jeans and a pullover instead of her sweet little dress with her striped stockings. SS is back and little girls love her. But, she's a different, all made over Shortcake .
Another "comeback" is Care Bears. I'm not sure how much they've changed or if they have at all but, I know the movie is cute. The old one and the new one.
My Little Pony is also a craze that began when I was little. I had some of those little plastic ponies with the sparkly, long, colorful hair. They came with the little brushes. This is what the 80's logo looked like

Other things I loved when I was a kid:
She'Ra Princess of Power. She rocked. We (my little brother and me) loved her because my mom's name is Sheila so we'd say "Sheeeeee-la"! We were little.
I thought Rainbow Brite was AWESOME!! She was, obviously, colorful and had powers and such. And look how cute she is with the blonde ponytail and the stars... I don't know if she's "comeback". Mommys, you'll have to let me know.
Cabbage Patch Kids. Oh, my how did I really love CBKs. I was a baby doll fanatic. My mamma gave me a baby every year for Christmas. I loved the Cabbage Patch Newborns most of all with the powdery smelling bald heads. They came with the birth certificates with those awful names! I had a Cabbage Patch Kid with a purple dress and blonde curly (wavy) hair. They still have these. The picture above is a little girl waiting to be adopted at Toys R Us. I just may go and adopt her!

I was captain of the cheerleading squad and I was head of EVERYTHING else4. Did you buy your lunch?
no, that wasn't an option. I went to a Catholic school and you ate school lunch or you brought your lunch. You made that choice at the beginning of the year and it didn't change. You could buy french fries or ice cream sandwiches for a quarter5. It's Friday night, where were you?

Ummm, the school had nothing of the sort except at 8th grade graduation. My classmates had parties with music and dancing and I went to those13. If you could go back in time and do it all over would you?
Definitely! I met Lindsey, I was skinny, I had fun. It was rough because just a little while before we began 8th grade, my best friend, Brett, died in a car accident. I'd been friends with Brett since the day we met in Kindergarten. I thought he hung the moon- I still do. His death was the 1st horrible thing that happened to me and I'm still not over it.14. What do you remember most about 8th grade?
I remember everything. We went through a lot together because when Brett died there was another classmate of ours in the car too. Our whole class was close so it was difficult for us. The school went from K-8 and most of us had been there that whole time. I remember meeting Lindsey ("You're my new best friend, call me every 5 minutes!") because she worshiped me!!! ;) Matt and I had the funnest relationship and he is so cute. Being a cheerleader was fun but those meanies got together and told on me because "I was too bossy"- can you even imagine??? 15. Favorite memory in 8th grade?
Lots of fun on our 8th grade trip (all the way to New Orleans), all the fun with Lindsey (Beau's party, Chip's party...) LSU baseball 16. Where did you go most often for lunch?
The cafeteria. There wasn't anywhere else to go.

I have no idea but, we had an 8th grade graduation. We did a tribute to Brett and Brett (the other boy was named Brett, too) which was so sad because their families were there. We got our awards. I remember that I was wearing a bra that opened in the front and it opened while I was kneeling before communion!!! We were seated in alphabetical order and my friend Kyle and his parents were next to us. His mom and mine are friends and they were dying laughing at me. I was in church, trying to gather the girls together and clasp the bra back- discreetly! And Kyle is about to die because it involves boobs....18. Did you like 8th grade?
LOVED!!! Of course, Brett's death was beyond awful. I still think of him, love him, miss him, talk about him... But, 8th grade was before things got really BAD. 8th grade was so carefree and fun.Labels: childhood, meme, memories

I watched a little of last night's Daytime Emmy awards. And I cried. Yep, I cried. No, not because Sonny (Maurice Bernard) was not nominated for best actor therefore not allowing me a glimpse of him all gussied up. I cried for Sesame Street. In the category for "Best Performer in A Children's Series" there was a tie. The winners? Caroll Spinney for his creation OSCAR the GROUCH, he also created and does the voice for BIG BIRD. He's an older, grey haired man who is just soooo sweet looking. And he had Oscar with him!! The other winner is the ever popular Kevin Clash, the creator of ELMO!! Of course, he's won lots of Emmy's and is very talented. The thing is, I have a huge soft spot for Sesame Street. That was the show that I was obsessed with when I was a little girl. I just loved that show so much. And, truth be told, I still do. If I can find it on tv, you better believe that I will watch it. It beats crappy ole insane Barney any day. For real. I loved all the puppets but, I really loved Prairie Dawn (don't think she's around anymore) and Grover (another one who isn't the most popular anymore). And Big Bird. And Mr Snuffleupagus. I loved Mr Snuffleupagus!! I liked the real people on the "street" and the songs. I learned spanish (way before Dora) and how to spell. This show was always "brought to you by" a letter- and OH MY GOODNESS wouldd it just make my day when "Sesame Street has been brought to you by the letter K". YAY :)
My mom got the Sesame Street books. I had Sesame Street games. I just really ate it all up. It instantly brings me back to my childhood. I think it's brilliant and sweet and like a big huge warm hug. I watch other kiddie shows today and some of them are PATHETIC in comparison. I like some of them- the Wonder Pets are adorable! The little chick is too cute. I love the way she talks (he/she?). But, these kids are missing out while watching crap like Spongebob Squarepants when I had Sesame Street. So, last night when I saw the talented creators of the show and characters that I love so much, that played such a huge role in my fabulous childhood, I was so happy. It was so deserved.
