Checking In
Hi, friends! Sorry that I have been MIA for over a week but I don't have my computer. Layla chewed the power cord- again- and I had to order a new one. It won't be in until this Friday. It's amazing how lost I am without it. I don't know what is going on in the world! Right now, I'm catching up on Blue's computer but it's not always easy for me to use it. It's his work laptop and he takes it with him during the day and is on it when he gets home. He does a lot of work on it and he plays too. I will be back as soon as I can. Don't forget about me! For now, tell me what you did for Valentine's Day. -Blue sent me flowers and a teddy bear and candy on Friday. Friday night, my family went out to eat (13 of us because one was missing). I had the spicy tuna and shrimp boil soup. I had never had a tuna steak and it was ok. I think that more sauce would've been better. Saturday morning, I got some flowers from my dad. SIL, mom and I went shopping at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. First, we had to go to Sarah T's and it was so great to see her. It was only for a minute or two, though. I was there to pick up her bag of goodies for baby Kate's family. Then, we went to an old high school friends' house to bring all of the stuff to her. Then, we went shopping. Saturday night, Blue grilled hamburgers for Justin, SIL and me. It was very low key but fun. I forgot about the french fries and started cooking them late. We had them for dessert. I still feel guilty about it. Then, we watched a little of Christopher Titus' comedy special on Comedy Central. I love stand-up comedy. Then, I watched some more of my DVR'ed shows from last week. Giving Thanks
I am fine. Monday was not a great day. I was just remembering a bad time in my life and so I was feeling sad. The depression, it comes and it goes. It's like a big thick fog that settles over me, weighing me down with memories. Then, it passes. I appreciate all the love. Monday night, I took Maria to see Twilight. I loved it. I LOVED it. I did not LOVE the books. This is a peculiar change for me. I usually do not LOVE the movie. I guess that is if I LOVED the book though. I think the reason I LOVED the movie though is because of the problems I had with the book(s). I liked the idea the writer had but the writing was sometimes very slow. The movie was pretty fast paced (no two hours of Bella moping around doing the same ol' thing like she does for the entire middle of the books) and dramatic. It was also pretty cheesy but I expected a little cheese. I like the guy who played Edward. I really, really liked him in the movie. I did not like the girl who played Bella. I don't think she is "beautiful" only cute. I think her mouth/chin is weird, distractingly so and I think that THIS girl would've been better. That's just me. My godchild, MAV, is here with me. I went and picked her up yesterday. She will come with Blue and me to the camp tomorrow for Thanksgiving. My parents, Little Bro, Gus and Gus' family will be there, too. On the menu: - turkey

- green been casserole
- corn pone
- sweet potato crunch
- rolls
- fruit salad
- dessert
I don't know what the dessert will be because Gus' mom is bringing it. I think. OH, and I think maybe Gus is making 24-hour-salad. Maybe(?). I guess if she or mom read this, they will let us know. If you are interested in the recipe for any of these dishes, let me know.
I'm going to bring a bag of Steam Fresh mixed veggies, too. I'll still eat everything above but just a little bit of it. I'll try to fill up on turkey and regular veggies. TRY TO. But, as of now, I'm very thankful that I've lost the 14lbs that I have already.

I bought some sparkle jack-o-lanterns that plug into the wall and light up. I put them outside the front door. I love them. They seem a little lonely though. I need more "something " out there. I also put out a little glass jack-o-lantern bowl and put my fruit in it. Beware of arranging if you only have two plums and a banana! Then, I bought some black and silver skull and cross bone bowls for my end tables. I'm gonna put candy in them.
As for Fall, I have my wooden bowl (that sits in the middle of my dining table) filled with acorns and mini pumpkins. I also have place mats that are striped and napkins with acorn napkin rings- all of that is in Fall colors, which I love. I also bought the Febreeze in the two Fall scents- LOVE them. Blue loves them, too. Get 'em!

Decorating- Another Reason For Me To Spend
Well, the furniture shopping is going well. I bought the majority of the furniture yesterday and it will be delivered next week. Just the coffee table will be a little late so that is good. I still need a dining room table though. I cannot find one that I like but I have a few more places to go. I found a few bedding sets that I really liked last night. One was at Dillards and made by Croscill. I got the sales lady to write down the name of the collection down on a piece of paper so I could shop around. When I got home and tried to look for it- it doesn't exist. It's not on Dillards' website or Croscill's or ANYONE else's. UGH! I also found the MK one at Macy's that I love so much. It's so much more affordable online. I don't know which one I'm going to go with yet. We are going today to order our bridesmaids dresses. I need a size 78. Do they make that? I'm hoping to loose more weight but be a few months pregnant by then so WHO KNOWS? Of course, it's best to get the dress too big, not too small. Gussy picked one that looks pretty comfy but I'll see tonight. Thankfully, there are no skinny bitches in the wedding. Bath and Body Works is discontinuing one of FAVORITE scents. I bought a candle and some 50% off body spray so I can stock up. I need to get some soap online. I also got some cute Halloween soaps for the guest bath and kitchen. I want this and this(I'm so in love with acorns right now) and a bunch of other stuff from Target. I've NEVER decorated for a season or for well, anything before. I'm VERY excited. Halloween falls on a Friday so, maybe we will have a get together. FUN!!!!! I'm finding a ton of super cute things- that should be another post entirely. Fall is very fun. I love the colors. Fireworks, Crabs and An Alligator
Happy late Independence Day, kids! We are having a blast here. We had a BBQ yesterday and watched fireworks. We had wonderful food and great company. It was hot but fun. We even rode in the boat at dusk. Today, we had a crab boil and fried shrimp. Oh good grief!! It was fantastic. I love boiled crabs. We saw a HUGE alligator in the water, too. He was giant. Daddy fed him a crab and he opened his mouth to eat it. My cousin and her family are down the road at a campground. It's so nice to see them all. It's great to do simple things and enjoy each other. Nothing makes me happier than being with my family, nothing. I'm hot and dirty and stinky, though. It's OK. I love it. I hope everyone remembered to be thankful to our brave military who make it possible for us to be free and be with our families. There are so many men and women who are away from their families right now. They have fought for our rights to be free: free to disagree with what they do, free to blog about our opinions, free to pray to the god of our choice, free to hold our children close. A Christmas Story- So Far
It's 1:15 on Christmas Day and let me tell you what I've done today- SLEPT. I was so tired. Luke woke me up (early) to give me my present from him. It's a right-hand ring, a 14K gold diamond filigree ring. It kinda looks like leaves and vines, I'll get a picture ASAP. After that, I went back to sleep. I woke up again to feed Layla, pee and went back to sleep. I have a small headache and I'm hungry now. Today, we are going to mom's to just lay around and do nothing. Justin and Shannon are with her mom, some family will stop by throughout the day, Isabelle, Olivier and the baby are there... should be no fuss. Tonight, we'll play LCR with Mrs J and her family (Holly!). I got a ton of presents, including a digital camera. Now, I can be a real blogger and take pictures of everything I do and see. I also got a red coat, black boots, perfume, pajamas, slippers, 2 pairs of pants, an outfit with matching shoes, a food processor, an LSU sweatshirt, earrings, bathstuff, lip gloss... I'm so so blessed. Ok, Luke's ready to leave. (Updated) I'm so tired, my head hurts, my house is a mess, my kitchen is pretty empty... It's the big Christmas hangover. Rundown-Monday- we went to my grandparent's house and had a great time! I wore a red and black swirly pattern tunic, black pants and wedge shoes. I didn't have my camera yet but, pictures were taken. The kids were fun! The food was soooo good. We had: fried turkey, honey-baked ham, green bean casserole, corn pone, rice dressing, cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes, broccoli cheese casserole, fruit salad, chocolate covered pretzels, my oreo truffles... So good! Yesterday, we did go to mom's house. Isabelle, Olivier and bebe Zoe were still there. Zoe is so cute and I have some great pictures of her. She sleeps all spread out, arms splayed out, it's adorable. She is so good. I got to hold her for a while and Luke held her hands and played with her and it was so so so sweet. I LOVE seeing him with kids. I've never seen him with a newborn though and this was sweeter than sweet. Anyway, we ate a lunch of stuffed chicken breast, roast, potatoes, rolls and fruit salad. It was nontraditional but very good. We talked about some traditional French foods and what they eat for Christmas (foi gras- goose liver). We went to Keith and Susan's house to see what Santa brought the kiddies. They were all so sweet and snuggly. I forgot my camera, though! Daniel was playing Nintendo DS and was so so serious! We came back to the 'rents' house and had Mrs J and her whole family. Justin and Shannon came back and their were 16 of us, including Zoe. 13 of us played LCR, the dice game and Shannon won the two times that I was sitting there. Mom made a huge pot of soup- turkey, andouille, ourzo, veggies. By 9:30-10:00, I was soooo tired and so was Lukey who went back to work today. I will play with my camera today and see if I can learn how to adjust it. I'll try to upload the pictures I've taken already. Labels: Christmas, holidays, life
