900th Post! Come On Out
This is my 900th post! Wow, I have had a lot to say. That is not surprising because I talk a lot. I love this blog and I love all of the friends I have made because of it. To celebrate my 900th post, please leave me a comment*. If you read this, leave a comment. This is my "de-lurking" post. My stats don't match up to my knowledge of who is reading and it surely doesn't match the comments. (There are people I highly suspect read the blog and don't want me to know. Okay, person.) *Tell me who you are, how you found me, what you do, why you read this blog, whatever. Thanks! Labels: blog friends, reader partipation

Any Ideas?
I have an appoinment with Corey tomorrow. He does my hair. I'm not due for a color yet, just a cut. I'm really thinking of doing something kinda crazy, trendy. I don't know what exactly, I'm kinda looking at some pictures... Suggestion? Labels: feedback, hair, reader partipation

Like House and Sons Of Anarchy
If we unplug the DVRs to move them and transfer them to the new house, am I going to lose all the shows that are saved on them now? I have shows on them that I have not been able to watch yet! Oh no... Labels: House, reader partipation, TV

Shoeaddict and Friends Book Club Update
I should have done this last night but I didn't . I'm sorry. I was otherwise engaged (say that in a syrupy, sweet, southern drawl). The discussion on our very first book, The Mercy of Thin Air, is one week from today. Most of you will be reading this tomorrow though so, I'll give you the exact date again. It's Wednesday, August 6th. I am not set in stone as to how it will go. I know that there are discussion questions in the back of the book and we will be discussing those for sure. For those of you who are still reading or who have not started, if you come across a question or a point you want to discuss, jot it down and either send it to me (email it at shoeaddict 17 at gmail dot com with no spaces between) or I guess we can bring those points up. I want to have a place for readers (yours, mine, ours) points, questions, comments. I have not started reading again because I want it to be FRESH! I did this my whole life in school when we had to read books for school. I did not read my summer books in May or June or July. I had them because my mom bought them but I read the week (OK, night!) before the test. I usually work better under pressure. I love this idea of a book club. I love thinking that we are all reading the same thing. All of you who are reading or who have read, you are reading about towns that are very close to my heart. Towns that play huge roles in my childhood, my teenage years, my dating life, my life with the lovely Sarah T. I'm a Louisiana girl, through and through. I've always been proud of that. Back to the club, right? What I'd like for you to do is tell me here (1)whether you plan to participate next week in the big discussion, (2) if you've read the book, (3) where you are in the reading or buying process, (4) your name and (5) do you want a Book Club Souvenir? I need to know who wants one/who is participating so I know how to order. Please play along!!! Also, if you have ideas about how this discussion should go, please leave them for me. I would love to hear it. I want to meet as many needs as possible. I know that Amy wants us to start later in the day. I'm thinking of doing a separate blog (ANOTHER ONE!) so that everything is right there and the questions can be answered at anytime. I'm thinking of that. I'll get a professional blog designer to do it all up for me. They can help me with things that I am not even thinking of. Let me know of suggestions for those too. I want lots of people to do this book club thing and love it. Hope your week is going great! Labels: books, Diary Book Club, I want, reader partipation

If You Can't Be With the One You Love, Honey
We have a winner! Random.org chose number 9 and so I picked the 9th commenter that wanted to win the book, Love the One You're With. I did include my lovely, wonderful, beautiful friend, ISA, even though she said shipping to France was too expensive. No it's not! Sorry you didn't win, Isa. I'll send you and the Cupcake another present. The 9th commenter was Cecily Coleman. I've already sent and email out to her letting her know that she is a winner.
Cecily, I'm totally nosey and want to know everything about you! I've never seen you comment before so I want to know who you are and where you live (need to know that to send you the book) and what you do. Most importantly, I need to know how you found the blog. I love finding that out! Email me all your info soon, Cecily.
Thanks for playing, everyone. I'm going to be doing that again soon. Also, I'm going to be designing a bookmark with a logo for the book club. I know it's silly sounding but I love it! I need a real name though and I keep going 'round and 'round. I like Diary and Friends Book Club but here's the problem- nothing about shoes. That seems kinda wrong, right? Or no? And Shoeaddict's Book Club is not very inclusive. What about Shoeaddict and Friends Book Club? I was thinking of having the name around some type of picture, a shoe and book or something.
I need ya'll to tell me what you think the name should be. You can pick one I've given or make up your own. I don't know how to put up a voters thing like I've seen on other people's blogs (maybe Kelli can tell me how cause she is smart about things like that)(so are YOU).
I have to tell ya'll another little thing, too. God knows your heart. He really does. I've been such a grouchy pants and have been in such a mood lately. Today, I needed to go to the grocery store and I decided to go to a new one. It's not really new, but new to me. I've been going to Wal*Ma.rt and I'm sick of it. That's another post in itself though. So, I went today and loved it. It's locally owned and it's fabulous.
What does that have to do with God knowing my heart? Well, everyone there was so friendly! It warmed my heart (cheesy sounding, I know) and put me in such a good mood. I love, love, love to shop and this place made it so much better. It just helped me so much to have every single person that worked there smile at me and say something friendly when I made eye contact. There was someone around everywhere I turned, no searching necessary.
I am not a beer drinker but over the 4th weekend I drank this and loved it. No, LOVED. It's seasonal but I didn't know when they stopped selling it. I was in their (HUGE, clean) beer and wine section and asked a guy to help me. He spent forever with me chatting like we were old friends. He was so helpful (recommended this, have you had this, Abby?) and sweet and kinda cute which is besides the point, of course. AND my total was so much lower than usual.
It was good times and now we are about to eat some slow cooked chuck roast, broccoli, potatoes and carrots. And have a beer. Have a good one. Labels: blog friends, Diary Book Club, giveaway, reader partipation, shopping

Diary Book Club- Updated
This is my 700th post and I have an announcement! I've decided to start that book club since there was some interest. I'm very excited! The first book we will read is The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Dominique. It is set in 1920's south Louisiana (I'm set in modern day south Louisiana)! It looks like Amazon is out of them right now, Kelli ordered hers from Paperback Swap, if you are interested in that. I'm sure your library has copies. I'll keep you posted about Amazon. If you are having a problem finding the book, let me know. In the back of the book, there are questions for discussion and I'll try to keep some notes, too. Also, you'll email (or leave in comments) questions or points you want discussed. Then, we'll all gather round and discuss all the questions and points being brought up right here at the Diary. How awesome!! I figure one month is enough time to read the book. If it's not enough time you will just tell me that you need more time and that is fine. If everyone finishes before then, that is great too. We are just working out the kinks here the first few times. You can always email me with questions and concerns, book ideas, etc at shoeaddict17 at gmail dot com. We'll have our big book club meeting on Wednesday, August 6th starting at about 10am. How's that sound? Who's in? Let your friends know, too. I'm thrilled beyond imagination about this because I miss school and fun discussions like this. I wish I could have you all over to my house and we could really talk about books (and shoes and marriage and life). Please feel free to email me with any kind of anything, okay? The book is a little confusing because it jumps back and forth between time periods. This is what I read that made me order it. Updated- Ok, those are you who are participaticing are:
-Kate
-Chel (Hello! She used to live here in LA)(Oh! She reviewed Poetic Wax on Chic Critique)
-Lesli
-Kelli
-Amy (from LA and lives here)
-GEG (from N LA but lives in Chicago)
That is 6, 7 including me. I'm hoping that Sarah joins, too *hint, hint*. I'm excited! Did I mention that?

Nobody Visits Here Anymore!
Do I have no more visitors because of my music?
OR
Is it because I just suck?
*I know I'm not getting as many visitors because of my site counter thingy, not my comments.
P.S. I'm getting rid of the music

Please Help
I drink a lot. Whoa, that sounded bad. I don't mean alcohol, I mean, well, you know. I am thristy all the time. I am also trying to limit my caffeine. My question is: Does Crystal Lite have caffeine?
Does the tea? I have the regular lemonade, the pink lemonade, the peach tea and the orange-strawberry. I'm afraid to drink it lately because I'm not sure if it has caffeine. My research is inconclusive. That means that one place said yes and one said no. Caffeine effects me and because I have insomnia, I just cannot drink it.
I know I have some LDS readers. Do ya'll drink Crystal Lyte?
I'll be writing up a post about last night's Desperate Housewives over at the other blog later this evening or tomorrow. I also finally caught up with Lost. Oh, so so good!

Indiana Jones and the Gladiator Sandals
Luke and I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on the Sci-Fi channel tonight. It was fun. He is very, very cute- Luke, I mean. Indiana Jones is too, of course. We were talking about how Harrison Ford is sadly too old to make a new Indy adventure though. Sometimes people should know when it's time to leave well enough alone.
We also discussed the recent events in California. I know that some of my readers home school their children and some plan to or are thinking about it. I'd love to hear from you and know what's on your minds. I could not be a teacher. I could barely tutor this very sweet, harmless little girl in a subject I knew backwards and forwards. I live in an area that has great public schools and private schools, too. I highly doubt that I will home school. I just want to hear from those of you who do or will. What made you choose that? What do you think of the ruling in California? Even if you are not homeschooling or not even a parent (I'm not even a parent!) (YET), I'd like to know what you think. Please remember to be kind and respectful. Everybody had the right to an opinion here.
I am of the firm belief that I should be able to do what I want to do with my children. If I think that homeschooling is the best for them, so be it. This way of thinking can get tricky though. I do not believe in "big" government coming in and telling me how to raise my kids, spend my money, worship my God, work my job, doctor my wounds, treat my cough, etc, etc... I do think that parents should have to follow rules regarding their children's education, home schooled or not, but it seems from all I've read, there are rules.
Moving right along.... everyone seemed to be in agreement about the shoes. The Athenaa's were my favorite's, too. They aren't the only pair I'm bringing, but I obviously want to keep the packing to a minimum. That is going to give me panic attacks for the week. Oh, Lawd! Give me a minute. *Deeeeep Breath* I'll have to get Lin to help me because i am awful at this kinda thing and she loves it. And I have to pack Luke! We've never been on a plane together- very, very nervous and very, very excited.
Back to the shoes, where were we... oh, yes, the Athenaa's. I went to the SteveMadden site to buy them and they are only available in a size 10! I am not a size 10. Le sigh. If you are, go NOW and buy them. We will all wait. We will. Go! Did you buy them? Aren't they fab?
Well, I spent forever trying to find a replacement. I went on tons of sites and found tons of shoes. I went back and forth for hours. I am really not exaggerating. I kept changing my mind on what I really wanted and finally I found these:
They are Sam Edelman Gilda in Pewter. I LOVE. You can all tell me you really hate them and I won't even care. They came in black, aqua, orange and a white/black that was really pretty, too. I picked this color because I feel like I can wear it with everything.
I found this dress at Torrid but I didn't get it. I like it though. My hair was cut like that but has grown out some. I'm thinking should I cut it back or let it grow out? I don't know. I liked it like that but I always miss my long hair.
This top shirt is my most favorite shirt. I already have it. I've worn it once. My mom bought it for me and I wore it a few weeks ago to her birthday dinner. It is so cute and very comfortable. I'm definitely bringing it. It is an easy-to-pack type of shirt, too.
I also have this shirt. My mom has it, too. I've never worn mine. I don't know if I'm gonna bring it or not. I'm sure I'm going to pack too much. We are going to have a washer and dryer. I know I'm bringing my 3 bathing suits, 2 cover ups, some pajamas, and way too many panties. I always bring way too many panties. I know it's unnecessary because we have a washer and dryer but I do it anyway. I should be worried about consolidating my makeup into one bag. Right now, it's in about 3 different bags.
I'm gonna need a lot of lists! Labels: Link to shoes, Luke, Movies, new stuff, news, reader partipation, shoes, shopping, vacation

Eeany, Meany, Miney, Moe
So, I'm going to St. Thomas in ONE WEEK from today. I'm trying to buy a pair of shoes that I can wear with everything. Which one of these pairs do you like the best?

They are both on sale for $39.95 at Steve Madden. I'm kinda leaning towards the first pair (Athenaa) because they are different, flat and Gladiator-ish. Whatya think? Labels: Link to shoes, reader partipation, shoes

I Want UPDATED

One of the girls that came to my house this weekend had a bag like this. I love it. She had her initial on it, which I love. Her bag is a different color but, I love this combo. I am thinking of getting it to go to St Thomas. What do you think? Should I get it monogrammed? She had just a "B" for her first name.
I have decided to buy it. I will use it for a beach bag and I can use it as a pocketbook on the plane. I am probably going to get a "K" in black on it. I didn't know if I should do my three initials or just the first one. I think just the first. Or maybe all three. Or maybe....

*NOTICE* Calling All Mommies!
Lindsey, my IRL best friend, and I talk about Cooper a lot. We talk about parenting styles in general and she tells me things that she is doing specifically and I tell her about things I have read or seen. We have talked many times about kids and TV. We have discussed the "What is appropriate for what ages", the "Not just because it's a cartoon..." topic, etc, etc...
Lindsey's oldest sister has three children, twins who are 7 and a daughter who will be three at the end of November. Apparently, the two of them were discussing the fact that there are no more shows on at night that the twins could watch that resemble shows like WE watched. Remember shows like,
The Cosby Show, Full House, Growing Pains, and
Family Ties? Remember
TGIF on ABC ? It had shows like
Perfect Strangers, Just the Ten of Us, and
Mr. Belvedere. I loved those shows and they just don't make 'em like they used to, do they? Or maybe they do and we don't know where to find them. I am not a parent. Yet. I've found lots of new things and ideas about parenting that I would like to try if I'm ever blessed with a child. I am also a writer and, more recently, a researcher. I'd love for you to help me with my latest project.
I'm going to be sending emails out to all of you who a) I know have children b) I have your email address. It will include a series of questions about how much TV your kids watch, what you do and do not allow, why you don't allow certain shows, etc... I will ask you if you are OK with me using any part of your questionnaire as a part of my final write up, or if you'd like to be used as just a statistic. I want to collect data and get numbers, i.e. 40% of the people asked allow their children to watch as much TV as the child wants.
If you would like to participate and you don't think I have your email address, you can email me or leave a comment. If you have a question, email me or leave a comment.
This project and all data acquired will be used for myself and the blog ONLY. Thanks for your time, if you decide to participate.

You Asked, I Answered
I asked you on Thursday to
ASK ME ANYTHING. Here are some of your questions and my answers. Thanks so much for participating. If you have any other questions, ask away!
Amy W from A Family Story wants to know- Favorite book of all time? Favorite piece of clothing? Which Disney princess are you most like and why? It's VERY hard for me to pick a favorite book. I loved "Valley of the Dolls" and I've read it many times. I know it's not great literature but, I love it. I also really loved "Memoirs of a Geisha" but, HATED the movie. I've loved Jennifer Weiner's books. My favorite piece of clothing... ummmmmm, right now? Pajamas! I freakin love pajamas!! Oh, and nightgowns- cotton ones. I really love, love my jeans. Disney princess- I took the quiz and was Belle so, I will take that.My great friend from high school, Sarah C. asked- What is your all time favorite movie? And what is your favorite movie quote (does not have to be from that movie.)
My all time favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. Other favs are Steel Magnolias, Shag, Reality Bites... Line from each movie (tie for GWTW), "You should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how." Rhett to Scarlett. "Great balls of fire, (hic), it's Rhett" Scarlett. I love the entire "her colors are pink and pink" conversation from Steel Magnolias. "Y'all is the dirtiest bunch of white folks I evah seen!" from Shag. There are soooooo many! Reality Bites- "Hello, you've reached the winter of our discontent." "Will you two just do it and get it over with... I'm starving!" "I'm in charge of all those t-shirts!" "Well, I'm a non-practicing virgin" Remember all those, Sarah?? Liza at
Adventures in Cavaland wrote- When you were little were you a little bookworm like me? I can remember being only 4 years old and just reading different books for hours. Not just looking at pictures, but reading them. Obviously nothing too smart, but enough that at 4 I was reading real books, not just picture books. I've always loved to read, but now that i've gotten older it's harder for me to get into a book.
I taught myself to read when I was 4, too. I shocked everyone. We were visiting my grandpa and I was reading books that were not mine so everyone knew it wasn't just reciting. From that time until now, I've been a MAJOR bookworm. I've always been reading something. My mother is responsible for my great love of books. She read to me when I was tiny and once I could read, we read together. I was a member of book clubs and she always bought books so we had tons. I read the"Little House" series, Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High, etc... Now, I read a range of things but, I must have a book to read and at least one waiting! My partner-in-crime and best friend, Lindsey says- I am buying a pair of black and brown casual shoes for the fall. What is in style? ps loved the shoes you had on today.
The shoes she is talking about are a pair of Old Navy satin leopard ballet shoes. They do not sell them anymore. I don't have a picture but, they are really fabulous. They fit perfectly, are comfortable and go with so much! I'm going to do a separate post with the answer to this after I get more info along with the next question.Where Jill from
EVERYDAY tells me- I need a good foundation but I can never find the right one. Have any ideas?
Honey, do I?? But, I've emailed my sweet Jillie asking her the questions I need the answers to before I can even begin to search. This is my favorite kind of question. I love it. I would do this all day. So, send these questions my way! Just for future reference, the info I need is- 1) How much coverage do you need? 2) Do you have a specific need or reason for foundation such as acne coverage, uneven skin tone, etc... 3) What have you used before and NOT liked and what do you like/want? 4) What is your price range? Drugstore brands (Maybelline, CoverGirl), Department Store (Prescriptives, Estee Lauder, etc...) or Specialty Store (Sephora)Kelli in the Mirror wanted to know- Do you know Amy from Savage Stories or Andie from sweet southern spirited in real life? Because I just realized we both link to both of them, and they live near you. Small world. Andie was in that writing blog with me when it was actually up and running. I do not know either Amy or Andie personally. Amy lives the closest to me, though. In fact, no one that I know IRL blogs. I have never met any of my blog friends in person. I have relationships with several blog friends that goes further than just comments on blogs. Lindsay (A) and I speak frequently on the phone. I spoke with Diann on the phone last night. I'm very confident that I will meet them. Kelli, Jill, Kate, & Rach are all also special closer friends.
I actual just told mom last week on the way to the doc that I need to get a big tour bus on do a big "SHOE ADDICT GOES ON TOUR" and go visit everyone! I want to go see everyone. I keep joking with her and telling her I'm going on the road. That would be so awesome.
J wants to know- What is your skin care regimen? I'm a Philosophy girl. The makeup optional skincare saved my skin! I use the Purity Made Simple cleanser and the Hope in a Jar religiously. I also love Aveda's tourmaline charged exfoliater. Good stuff!!
She also asked- Another question, what does your closet look like? I'm a "clothes addict" and I'm very very curious My closet is everywhere. My clothes are in the laundry room. It's a big room. They are in the extra room. My shoes are in the closet, though. Well, most of them are in the closet. If you mean "What kind of clothes do I wear?" well, I do have a style. Those people close to me, Lindsey, mom, etc... will say that they can look at a top or piece of jewelry and know that it's so "Kristen". I love that. I am very attracted to tunics and boho-type tops that have floaty sleeves and the like. I like jeans- dark wash. I am attracted to very deep colors and looks that are kinda 70's in style. I do love trends. I love dresses, long skirts, v-neck pullovers, Old Navy tees...
Liza came back to say- It's a new day so I'll ask another question for today!Hmm...let's see...what to ask...What were your favorite toys growing up? Were you a Care Bear fan? My Little Pony? Barbie? Did you play with Matchbox Cars? LOL. I love remembering old toys. So weird that lot of the toys I played with as a kid have come back, but they aren't the same rad quality as when we were little. I know, huh? I posted about that. I loved Strawberry Shortcake when I was younger. I had everything Strawberry Shortcake! I also loved Cabbage Patch Babies, the newborns. I was (still) a big fan of baby dolls. I got one every year for Christmas. I was a Barbie girl, too. I liked "make believe". I played "mommy" and "teacher" and stuff like that. I LOVED to play dress up- big surprise, huh? I also liked board games.
Sweet Stacey came to tell me- did you know you received a Friday Fuzzie? that's my question and i am stickin' to it. Yes, thank you! How very sweet.
Please leave more questions here. If you are looking for new makeup (foundation, powder, eyes, lips, etc...) remember to give me as much information as you can about- pricing, your skin type, coverage, what you've HATED...
P.S. We had a blast at Justin's birthday supper! Ok, so I should've eaten during the day. I was really shaky before we left. I've been having tremors. I had some before we left. Then, right before we got into the car, I had a little shake and fell on the ground. I know Luke knew it wasn't the shoes. He wanted me to go in but, I said no! I just got some orange juice at the gas station. He was nervous. Poor Luke. We all ate and had a great time. My brother is so cute and I have not seen my daddy in forever. I had the BBQ shrimp linguine and the turtle cheesecake. Half of the cheesecake is in the fridge. My left leg hurts from falling but, I'm so proud that we went! I just hope that mom skips over this post. Oh well if she doesn't. Hi mom!

Sheila & Harry
My mom & dad(this Easter in Mexico)
O.K. – Harry & I met July 10, 1976 – the weekend after the Bicentennial 4th of July! We dated until May 1977 and got engaged and were married on May 27, 1978. Now, that sounds pretty normal BUT I was only 16 when we met and he was 19 almost 20 and I turned 18 on May 6th, graduated high school on May 11th and got married on May 27th – 1978!!!! And we are STILL married – 29 years later! We are still in love. We have had many, many (who is counting) ups and downs in our relationship and marriage (I think it is called LIFE) but we still enjoy each others company and we love each other. We are entering a new phase of our marriage and sometimes adjustment is hard but we always get through it. Harry was a blind date. I was babysitting for his older sister’s children for several years and his sister asked if I wanted to go out on a date with her brother. I told her yes, but he had to call me first. He did and I did and the rest is history! I have always admired Harry’s generous nature (very, very generous – always – with me, the kids, others and other kids (he is a sucker for kids)) and his loyalty. We fight about family issues – we fought about how to raise our kids (we each have different ideas of course and he has typically been the knight in shining armor dad and made me go out front and be the bitch) and about how to handle his family at times and about how we spend money. We are different in our thoughts on money and how to spend it. We are MUCH better now because we have met somewhere in the middle BUT he still spends more money than I do and can be obsessive about buying certain things – like clothes, guns, guitars, fishing gear, etc. etc. He doesn’t own ONE of anything!!!!! I counted 6 pairs of shorts folded on the ironing board – and he has more in the closet and in the laundry and at least than many at the camp YET he bought a couple of pairs this past weekend. NOW keep in mind he only wears shorts (for the most part) on the weekends – I just don’t get it and NEVER will – why he needs to buy so many!!! Oh well – anyway – that is just how he is. On the flip side of that – he has NEVER said one word about anything I buy or any money I spend. I am the accountant and have always paid the bills and handled our finances – SO it is a good thing I am not like him or we would be broke!!! As far as our relationship changing/growing over the 31 years we have been together (wow did I just say 31 years???? I must be old!!) it has changed up and down so many times I can’t count. We started off our marriage dealing with his mother being ill and in and out of the hospital and it escalated from there. By the time I was 24 - his mother had already been very, very ill and had kidney failure and then passed away 6 weeks before Justin (my second child) was born. His dad had had cancer – twice and a lung abcess. We had both of them in the hospital at the same time – more than once! Harry’s dad even lived with us for a little while to get stronger from his lung abcess for them to do surgery on his lung for cancer. At the time I had a 2 year old and Harry had pneumonia. Of course this was during a time that Harry was building a career and so was I. Lots of responsibility on two young people. That causes strain in your marriage. Then later in our marriage we dealt with some really hard times with our children. During one of the really, really bad times with our youngest child, Harry’s dad was diagnosed with cancer again and this time it was terminal. Harry would go over and care for his dad (he lived 80 miles away) on the weekends and I would stay home and deal with our high school senior and then his dad passed away. The year 2002 will have to go down to being one of the most tragic in our marriage and lives. It took us several years to climb out of it. Life is good today. Who knows what the future will bring?? We both LOVE, LOVE to travel and we get away every chance we get. We also bought a “weekend” escape in 2003 – in Pass Christian, Ms. And in 2005 (after just totally remodeling it) Hurricane Katrina totally demolished it. We have replaced it with another “weekend” escape in south Louisiana, on a brackish water bayou (we love to salt water fish) and we are really enjoying it. Harry has traveled a large part of our marriage for work and he is currently traveling really heavily. This always causes “issues” because sometimes the only time we have to see each other is filled with all the household “crap”. Not much down time and not too much alone time. This always causes a “disconnect” and issues. BUT we can reconnect at our camp on the weekends. It is why we go through all the costs and efforts of maintaining two households – it affords us an escape from everyday stuff. Anyway, hopefully we will be together for always – till death do us part – and hopefully that is a long time to come. But I have learned to never say for SURE what is going to happen. We can only hope and continue to work week by week to get there! The saying: “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is sooooo true! Everytime something threatens to kill our marriage and everytime something happens that knocks down, we rise up a little stronger and surer!!!
Good luck with your blog – I hope lots of folks respond!!
Love,
Sheila

Kelli & Clay
Kelli is a new blogger friendApril 20051) How long have you been married? How long have you been together? We've been together since September of 1994, and married since August of 1996.
2) How did you meet?I went to TCU and my roommate had gone to high school with him, although she didn't know him that well. He ended up rooming with one of her good guy friends at another college, and so we met when she dragged me down there to visit her friend.
3) What do you admire the most about your partner? He can go to sleep in less than two minutes no matter what's going on. And stay asleep even when I'm poking him to get up and help me! :)Seriously though, he's very loyal. He doesn't turn his back on a friend, and even in stores he always wants to work with the same salesman if it's commission-based.
4) What do you fight about the most?We don't really fight in the traditional sense. Mostly I get irritated with him over small things but I end up venting to my girlfriends so I don't have to nag him all the time. Then he gets annoyed with me for airing our dirty laundry, so I guess I better not go into any more detail! :)
5) How has your relationship grown/changed in the years(months)/time you've been together? We were teenagers when we met. Things were much simpler then. Our relationship has gone through a few rough patches where we get into a rut and get bored, or don't take time for each other and grow distant. Overall I think we're closer all the time though, but it's harder to keep it that way now that we have two kids and so much going on. It's certainly worth the challenge though!

Lindsey & Brandon

Lindsey & I have been friends for 13 years picture taken winter 2006
1. How long have you been married? How long have you been together?
Brandon and I have been married for 5 years. We met February 23, 2001. He proposed on September 25, 2001. We were married May 24, 2002.
2. How did you meet?
I met Brandon through my sister. My sister was dating Brandon's best friend, Chris. One night I went out with my sister and Brandon was with Chris. At the time I was NOT looking for a boyfriend. I was 18 and he was 24. I really did not think it would work out. It ended up being an instant connection. (Hint the 7 month courtship)
3. What do you admire the most about your partner?
I admired Brandon for his dedication to everything he did/does. He always puts forth his best effort. We shared the same morals and values, which is very important to me. And of course, I was attracted to him.
4. What do you fight about the most?
The thing we fight about the most is food. I know it is very weird to fight about food. I am a very picky eater and Brandon is the complete opposite. To make it worse, we are never hungry at the same time. Sometimes we eat supper at different times, having two different meals.
5. How has your relationship grown/changed in the years you've been together?
At the beginning, we had to learn each others ways. We did not live together before we got married. I moved from my parents' house to his house. He lived on his own for a while, with college guys. So, we had to adjust to living with the opposite sex. It was rough. Brandon is a HUGE morning person and I am a night person. He likes to squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom up; I just squeeze. We had to get seperate toothpaste. We had to change a little for the other person to make it work. Then, of course, a major change is when Cooper was born. You learn a lot about your partner when you have children. After Cooper was born I gained a lot more respect for Brandon. He is a fantastic father. I know we have many more challenges ahead and hopefully we will be one of the lucky ones, still together and madly in love.
***UPDATED- the top picture is the way it was BEFORE poor Cooper was cut out.
Cuter, huh?
