Dream Big Girls!

Last night I thought about the fact that I (along with millions of others) was watching this woman's dreams comes true. We've been doing that the whole time we are watching the Olympics. It feels great, I think. Nastia Lukin became the third American woman (Mary Lou Retton and Carly Patterson) to win the gold in the women's all around gymnastics. Her performances were breathtaking and beautiful. Shawn Johnson, another American girl, won silver.

I have really been enjoying the Olympics. I love seeing the athletes perform. I like being exposed to the many different sports, too. I've watched fencing (AWESOME!) and water polo (zzzzzzzz) and beach volleyball (good) as well as my favorites- gymnastics, swimming, baseball and basketball.

I cry for every medal ceremony that I have watched. I'm just cheesy like that. I'm moved by the determination and dedication of all of the people who compete. I've never been dedicated to anything for that long. It's really mind blowing. I will be so sad when everyone packs it in and goes home.

Old News & New

Miss Jamie Lynn Spears and fiance Casey Aldridge welcomed a daughter Thursday morning. Around 9:30 am at Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS, MADDIE BRIANN was born. She weighed 7lbs 11oz and reportedly has a head full of hair. Jamie Lynn was discharged from the hospital Friday overnight. I love this picture of her. I think she is pretty here.
What a pretty color on her!

One of my favorite comedians died Sunday. George Carlin died of heart failure at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica. He was 71.

Indiana Jones and the Gladiator Sandals

Luke and I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on the Sci-Fi channel tonight. It was fun. He is very, very cute- Luke, I mean. Indiana Jones is too, of course. We were talking about how Harrison Ford is sadly too old to make a new Indy adventure though. Sometimes people should know when it's time to leave well enough alone.

We also discussed the recent events in California. I know that some of my readers home school their children and some plan to or are thinking about it. I'd love to hear from you and know what's on your minds. I could not be a teacher. I could barely tutor this very sweet, harmless little girl in a subject I knew backwards and forwards. I live in an area that has great public schools and private schools, too. I highly doubt that I will home school. I just want to hear from those of you who do or will. What made you choose that? What do you think of the ruling in California? Even if you are not homeschooling or not even a parent (I'm not even a parent!) (YET), I'd like to know what you think. Please remember to be kind and respectful. Everybody had the right to an opinion here.

I am of the firm belief that I should be able to do what I want to do with my children. If I think that homeschooling is the best for them, so be it. This way of thinking can get tricky though. I do not believe in "big" government coming in and telling me how to raise my kids, spend my money, worship my God, work my job, doctor my wounds, treat my cough, etc, etc... I do think that parents should have to follow rules regarding their children's education, home schooled or not, but it seems from all I've read, there are rules.

Moving right along.... everyone seemed to be in agreement about the shoes. The Athenaa's were my favorite's, too. They aren't the only pair I'm bringing, but I obviously want to keep the packing to a minimum. That is going to give me panic attacks for the week. Oh, Lawd! Give me a minute. *Deeeeep Breath* I'll have to get Lin to help me because i am awful at this kinda thing and she loves it. And I have to pack Luke! We've never been on a plane together- very, very nervous and very, very excited.

Back to the shoes, where were we... oh, yes, the Athenaa's. I went to the SteveMadden site to buy them and they are only available in a size 10! I am not a size 10. Le sigh. If you are, go NOW and buy them. We will all wait. We will. Go! Did you buy them? Aren't they fab?
Well, I spent forever trying to find a replacement. I went on tons of sites and found tons of shoes. I went back and forth for hours. I am really not exaggerating. I kept changing my mind on what I really wanted and finally I found these:
They are Sam Edelman Gilda in Pewter. I LOVE. You can all tell me you really hate them and I won't even care. They came in black, aqua, orange and a white/black that was really pretty, too. I picked this color because I feel like I can wear it with everything.
I found this dress at Torrid but I didn't get it. I like it though. My hair was cut like that but has grown out some. I'm thinking should I cut it back or let it grow out? I don't know. I liked it like that but I always miss my long hair.
This top shirt is my most favorite shirt. I already have it. I've worn it once. My mom bought it for me and I wore it a few weeks ago to her birthday dinner. It is so cute and very comfortable. I'm definitely bringing it. It is an easy-to-pack type of shirt, too.
I also have this shirt. My mom has it, too. I've never worn mine. I don't know if I'm gonna bring it or not. I'm sure I'm going to pack too much. We are going to have a washer and dryer. I know I'm bringing my 3 bathing suits, 2 cover ups, some pajamas, and way too many panties. I always bring way too many panties. I know it's unnecessary because we have a washer and dryer but I do it anyway. I should be worried about consolidating my makeup into one bag. Right now, it's in about 3 different bags.

I'm gonna need a lot of lists!

Shocked! *Breaking News* UPDATED

Actor and father, Heath Ledger, was found dead at a downtown Manhattan apartment, police say. His death was possibly drug-related as pills were found all around him. Ledger was 28. The housekeeper found him unconscious at around 3:30 PM Eastern time and called authorities.

Heath Ledger has a 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose.

Updated- It's being reported by news sources that Heath's family is issuing statements saying he did not commit suicide. The pills found in his room were said to be sleeping pills. Also, I've learned that Heath had pneumonia at the time of his death.

Michelle Williams, former fiancee and mother of his daughter, is said to be "devastated" and on a plane to NY.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

More to come as the story develops...

The Buzz

Hey, ya'll! I'm not doing all that well with the celeb news, right? I know, I know!! Sorry. Who heard Barbara Walter's list of most fascinating people of 2007? J.K Rowling was the number 1 "most fascinating" according to the list. Others on the list included: Justin Timberlake, Victoria & David Beckham, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Hudson, Bill Clinton, and MySpace creators Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe. I have to disagree on, ummmmm, most of the list (all?) but, yeah, whatever. What do you think?

I got a lovely treat today! I got to talk on the phone with another bloggy friend!! I don't know if she wants me to say who she is and all that because she's private now so, know that I LOVED it and HER! XOXO to you ;) I love making new friends. Although she already has been considered my friend (in my mind) for a looooong time. Blogging has been such a great thing for me. More than words can ever say.

Like, for example, Isabelle told me last night that she reads my blog and so do her friends (or they have). She told me I was BRILLIANT- now, maybe it was a "lost in translation" moment but, lemme tell you, I was floored. I am grateful for the people who read the Diary (THANK YOU! I LOVE YOU!) and I try very hard to be me and give you what you (say) want. BUT, brilliant? WHAT?? I just... Maybe I shouldn't even be saying this. Oh, well.

Who's ready for some BUZZ? Mischa Barton with weird hair and shoes
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony- I think it's so cheesy that in every picture of a man and his pregnant wife/girlfriend/whatever, he has his hand on her belly. See below for more... Anyway, J Lo apparently went and bought both pink and blue onesies. Is she having twins or just throwing off everyone?
Emma Watson did a photo shoot for InStyle Magazine and this is just one of the beautiful pictures from the shoot. I loved them. There were also ones in color. She's beautiful, very classic and elegant.
I love Joaquin Phoenix. That's it.
Solange Knowles at PEOPLE Magazine's Grammy Kickoff Party. No! No! No! The dress, the tights, the shoes and all together- really NOOOOOO.
Another man touches woman's belly picture. This one is so awkward, too. Nicole and Joel started the Richie Madden Children's Foundation in Los Angeles. At the first even they handed out over $200,000 worth of baby goods to 100 expectant mothers.

Lindsey loves Tyra Banks. I like her. Sometimes she gets on my nerves. I think this dress is pretty. The bracelet is BANGIN!

OK, Keira Knightly has no boobs yet she continues to show them off. Her bare chest, rather. Here she is at the L.A. premier of Atonement. She also showed off her new bangs. I cannot "do" bangs like this unless I'm willing to do work and I'm not. I have very curly hair and I'm not straightening. I like the bangs, though.

I have always loved Miss Brittany Snow since American Dreams. Remember that show? I loved it. Here she is at the PEOPLE Magazine Grammy party. Love the look.
Emmy Rossum at the same event looking great, except for her knees! Look how ashy they are!! I really like that dress, though.
Ha! I know, random. This is Dr House. Do you like his jacket? Would you buy it? For almost $600?
How adorable! It's Miss Ever Gabo, Milla Jovovich's baby girl.

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn kissing! I like them. Too bad this is on the set of their new Christmas movie (out next year). Don't you think they are cute?

Rachel Ray and her husband are always fighting off rumors that they are divorcing or that their marriage is in trouble. Here they are trying to prove everyone wrong. How do you think they're doing?
Great cut, Rach!
Elizabeth Hurley in something other than PINK!
Brad Pitt was in New Orleans this week to promote his rebuilding the Ninth Ward project. He was on Larry King but, I didn't see.

Just a little "happy" to end the day! Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley at an L.A. food bank event looking, well, lippy. Right, they have that pouty thing down, for sure.

I'm watching What Not To Wear. This woman- OMG. Ughhhh! I'd love to be a guest host on this show. I might get really, really aggravated though.

Have a Happy Friday Night!

God Warrior's Daughter Dies

Do y'all remember this woman? She is Margurite Perrin, the lady who appeared on Fox's TV show Trading Spouces and infamously had a big rip-roaring hissy fit. She called herself a God-Warrior and was, of course, switched with non-believers and got all psycho about it. She is from Ponchatoula, LA. On Tuesday, her 25-year-old daughter, Ashley Perrin, died in a car accident. The Hammond Daily Star reports that Ashley was driving alone in a mini-van when she hid a guard rail and died instantly. No alcohol or drugs are suspected but, police do not have a reason for the accident yet. Ashley is the mother of a young daughter who also appeared on the show. My prayers go out to this family.
