Upset
I am awake at 3 am, again! Blue and I went to bed at around 6:30 and watched a movie. We turned off the lights and went to sleep for 9 but I woke up at 12:30 or so. I looked at my phone and saw a text message from a friend. The message had upsetting news and I have not been able to fall asleep again. I finally just gave up and came to the living room. I watched The Amazing Race and I'm now watching all last week's General Hospitals. I DVR'ed the Oscars but I did that in my room so I have to wait. My heart is racing and my stomach feels empty and fluttery. I feel both restless and tired, anxious and worn out. I am fighting the urge to eat. It's times like these that I wish I still smoked. But I don't. I ask that you pray for a family that I know. They have a very, very young baby girl who is fighting to live. This is a DIFFERENT baby from before. Life is just so unexpected and fragile and scary. Labels: emotional, friends, personal

No Fair Weather Fans Here

The 2008 LSU Tigers just took the field in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. It's being played as usual in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. LSU is playing GA Tech.
I'm emotional. I love the Tigers. I love football. Blue thinks I'm just absolutely insane- "Why the HELL are you CRYIN?" I don't know. I want them to play well and I hate that it's over.
This season has not been a great one for Tiger fans or players. Our record was 7-5 and those 5 losses were rough. I have cursed and thrown things and yelled. Oh, yes, I have yelled. Through it all, though, I love the Tigers and I always will, champions or Peach Chick-Fil-A Bowl-ers.
UPDATED- TOUCHDOWN Tigers! WOOOO HOOOO! Man, what a grrrreat song the fight song is.
UPDATED- Tigers win! Tigers win! What a great game. The Tigers stomped 'em. I cried, of course. I will always and forever be a Tiger girl and I am so proud. I'm thrilled that we got to share so many of the home games with some of my very favorite people. Thanks Justin and the Pirates.
And to you, you blogger and non blogger friends alike, thank you for a great year. Thank you for your kind words, your support, your love. Happy New Year...

Looking Better
Things are looking up around here. My parents got electricity and so did some other people around town. We didn't though so we will continue staying here for now.It may be restored at our house as soon as Sunday. Stores and gas stations are also gaining power so the lines are not as long today. Yesterday, dad, Luke, Keith and I ran errands all over and we saw lines for fuel that were miles and miles long. People waited 2 and 3 hours in those lines. I am watching a friend's little girl today. Her mother is at work and there is no school and no child care facilities open now. The children had this entire week off but they will have to make it up somewhere. I've been trying to help out as much as I can. We are so blessed to be safe and have virtually no damage to our homes and cars. We have had power because of the generators and we have had plenty to eat and drink. I know people who had no cool air, no clean clothes, not much to eat. Everywhere we drive we see families sitting outside in chairs to avoid the stuffiness of the heat inside. I've been asked by a few of you sweet souls about helping and we don't need any help. I know of one family in particular who had a tree in their living room and on both of their cars. I know that lots and lots (and LOTS) of other families are going through this. I'll give more info as I get it later this weekend. I plan to get with my uncle's church to volunteer with them. I do know that if you'd like to help with something now, I suggest these. Go here: Woman's Hospital Hurricane Relief Fund OR the LA chapter of the Red Cross. Thanks so much! Dream Big Girls!
Last night I thought about the fact that I (along with millions of others) was watching this woman's dreams comes true. We've been doing that the whole time we are watching the Olympics. It feels great, I think. Nastia Lukin became the third American woman (Mary Lou Retton and Carly Patterson) to win the gold in the women's all around gymnastics. Her performances were breathtaking and beautiful. Shawn Johnson, another American girl, won silver. I have really been enjoying the Olympics. I love seeing the athletes perform. I like being exposed to the many different sports, too. I've watched fencing (AWESOME!) and water polo (zzzzzzzz) and beach volleyball (good) as well as my favorites- gymnastics, swimming, baseball and basketball. I cry for every medal ceremony that I have watched. I'm just cheesy like that. I'm moved by the determination and dedication of all of the people who compete. I've never been dedicated to anything for that long. It's really mind blowing. I will be so sad when everyone packs it in and goes home. Labels: emotional, news

A Weekend Update
It's Kate's birthday weekend! Her birthday was yesterday (the 28th). Go and send her some love and good wishes or leave them for her here. Even though she got cake and I did not. Happy Birthday, Kate! Love and kisses, xoxo
Also, remember this? Well, I won!!! I'm thrilled. I'm probably more excited than I should be for chocolates and Starbucks. I don't drink coffee but I like the tea there a lot. Thanks Mel. I also won a cute floating candle and notepad from Kathryn a few weeks ago. I took a picture but I cannot find the camera right now. Thanks guys!!
My godchild, MAV (initials), is here with me for a few days. She is nine. We went shopping for clothes yesterday and OHMYGOODNESS! We almost didn't make it. Or one of us didn't make it but I cannot say for sure which one would've survived it. It was a lot easier when she was 5 to buy her clothes. Now, she wants THOSE shorts and a DRESS and a HOODIE (in the summer? in south LA?) and she takes forEVER to try things on. She gets something in her head (the ugly shorts, the dress she won't ever wear, ice cream, what have you) and won't. stop. talking. about it. Geesh! We were very successful in our mission though and bought quite a few bottoms and tops that are appropriate for her.
Lastly, this:

And I Cried
I'm a loser. Or I'm just really completely hormonal. Or both. This movie, Matilda, on ABC Family made me cry. And it's not at the end yet, where I'm sure the very adorable little Matilda (Mara Wilson) and poor Miss Honey will live happily-ever-after... Oh, no. I've cried because Matilda's parents are so mean to her! Matilda is so sweet! Miss Trunchbull is so horrible and violent! I really HATED when she threw (THREW) the little blond with the pigtails. And she kicked the cat. KICKED a cat. And I cried. Now of course, fabulously intelligent Matilda and her cool assed friends (including the very endearing Lavender) are running the terrible Trunchbull out of town and that fairy tale is looking like it's coming soon. Just in case you're wondering, Danny DiVito and Rhea Pearlman star as the crazy mean parents and it's based on a book by Roald Dahl. I wouldn't necessarily let just any aged child watch this. I'm obviously not old enough or should have waited until Luke was home. Or changed the damn channel. I know I'll probably have a nightmare about that bitch Miss Trunchbull.
Is it harmones? I CRIED!!!!
Agatha Trunchbull: What are those?
Matilda: It's not trash, Daddy, It's lovely. Its called Moby Dick by Herman Melvile.
*It really makes me mad when I try to FIX something on a post and it doesn't do!! I've tried to put space between the quotes and it's not working. Sometimes there's a fricking football field of space between what I'm typing and other times I can't get it to do what I want and give me a space**
