Holly, Jolly Christmas
First, I want to say Happy Birthday to Gus, aka SIL, aka Shannon. I've already texted her, told her Happy Birthday on Facebook and talked to her (plus I'll see her in an hour and be with her all night) but I gotta give her a shout out here. SO, Happy Birthday, SIL. I love you. You are so gorgeous and smart and fun. I love that we are getting married soon and you'll be a part of the family forever. Feet. Tonight we are going to a Christmas party for my family's company- A+ Corporation. My immediate family (husband, mom, dad, bro, SIL) will be there and so will my grandparents (on my mom's side)(my daddy's parents have both passed away sadly) and my uncle and aunt. I know a lot of people that work there and so I am looking forward to it. I have not seen my parents or my husband this week because they have all been out-of-town. My parents were in New Mexico and Blue was in Atlanta, GA on business. I am looking forward to spending time with them. Whenever the 6 of us get together (which is very often) we always have a lot of fun. This is what I'm wearing-
Bandolino Input Boots Black
Avenue tankI meant for the shirt to be first but you all know how I'm so challenged at posting the pictures. I am pairing this with black trouser pants that are cuffed. I don't have a picture of those but you know what black pants look like. I will take lots of pictures there but I cannot promise that you'll ever see them :) Sorry! I also have a red sweater (cardigan) to go over the top of the tank. I hate my arms.
I am obviously not wearing a necklace because of the bling but I'm thinking about what earrings to wear. Hmmmm?? And bracelet. I LOVE bracelets. I have a ton so I'll find something. Maybe something black?
Oh, I went to get my hair colored and cut today and they didn't have me on the books! I was freaking out. They had a girl there for just a few days a while ago who had no idea what she was doing and had to be let go and apparently she had made the appointment. Of course Corey, my hair god, was swamped. The front desk girl- Nicole- felt really bad and did get me in for a color but no cut. I need one badly. Oh, well. I know that I'll be able to get something soon.
Hope you have a nice weekend!

The Birthday Boy and The Drunks
This post is picture heavy so don't say I didn't warn you. Just like last Sunday for dad's birthday, the fam went to eat for Justin's birthday this past Sunday. We went to eat at The Little Village which is becoming a favorite of ours. Well, Gussie and Blue had never been so this was there first time.
We had a really good time! Ummmmm, Mom, Gussie and I had a little too much fun maybe. Our martinis were really strong. We only had one each and we were drunk!
They all laugh at me though because I'm like the paparazzi with the camera. I don't care. I love having pictures of our adventures. It's fun. I'm an absolute terrible photographer but whatever. I also never actually sat down and learned all about my camera so that may have something to do with it. It's a Pentax Optio. Sunday was just the day that we went to eat for Justin's birthday. Today, September 17th is his actual birthday. He turned 24 which is absolutely insane to me. I still remember him being a little boy! He's not little anymore though. Well, he's still skinny. HERE is what I wrote for him for his birthday last year.
It would've been nice to have a picture of him, huh? NAH! It's me on the way to the restaurant. Those are my faux Chanel sunglasses.

There he is- The Birthday Boy on Sunday night

Birthday Boy & Gussie
Blue(wearing blue) & Shoeaddict
nice pictures taken before the martinis were consumed
well, uh oh!
I like taking pictures of Gussie eating.
because she does gives me funny poses!
yes, after the martinis

This goes in the "nice, normal" category even though it's AFTER and everyone was laughing at me for taking pictures

HELLO! We're not ready
Ahhhhhhh! Cute
SILs (and a little bit of Mama) And the Food:
Mine- Chilean Sea Bass with lump crab meat in a lemon sauce
Luke's- ribeye with shrimp
(doesn't that thing on the right look like an eyeball?)
Dad's- the grouper
Justin's- stuffed lobster tail
Close up!
The cake today
I made a cake for him last night and brought it to him at work today. That was a lot of fun. I was SO proud of the cake. My friend Melissa and I made it and we had a blast with the sprinkles and the icing. It was great. I did eat a piece at the office today and I am not feeling guilty because I've been doing so good. I've lost about 5lbs. My pants were very loose today. YAY!!
I'm sure there are more fun fam pictures coming up after next week. The WHOLE family is going out for the September birthdays for Sunday brunch/lunch/dinner (I forgot, I don't know). The September birthday's are- dad, Justin & PaPa (9/26).
Oh, we closed on our house today. Yes, we are HOMEOWNERS!

Happy Birthday To You, Dad
Today was my daddy's birthday. In all the Gustav hoopla, I didn't get him a present but we all did get together and go out to eat. It was hard to find a restaurant that was open, but we did. We went to Sullivan's and ate until we all were rolling around like big fat hogs. I ate crab stuffed shrimp and so did Shannon. We often get the same thing, now that I think about it. We both really like shrimp, that's why. The others got some kind of steak- Luke got Cajun ribeye, dad got filet and mom and Justin got prime rib, maybe.

Those are the pictures of us. Luke hates to have his picture taken so he didn't want to smile but they made him laugh. He is "almost smiling" and so he has a goofy look on his face. I love the picture of mom and dad. Isn't it cute?
I must take this opportunity to tell ya'll that my dad is the BEST and I'm so very very lucky to have him as mine. I've talked about him on the blog before, I know. I talk about my family all the time because I'm so lucky to have them and I genuinely enjoy them. I'm a huge daddy's girl and I am not ashamed of that.
My dad, Harry, is a sweet generous and loyal man. He was very close to his own father and is very close to both my brother and me. Everyone loves my father. Yes, he's goofy and he can be frustrating. He is fiercely protective and loves us all very much. I am so lucky to be his daughter, his child. I don't have to worry about where I belong or who can I run to as long as he is alive.
Thank you, daddy for being the best ever.
I love you. Love, Turkey Lips.

A Weekend Update
It's Kate's birthday weekend! Her birthday was yesterday (the 28th). Go and send her some love and good wishes or leave them for her here. Even though she got cake and I did not. Happy Birthday, Kate! Love and kisses, xoxo
Also, remember this? Well, I won!!! I'm thrilled. I'm probably more excited than I should be for chocolates and Starbucks. I don't drink coffee but I like the tea there a lot. Thanks Mel. I also won a cute floating candle and notepad from Kathryn a few weeks ago. I took a picture but I cannot find the camera right now. Thanks guys!!
My godchild, MAV (initials), is here with me for a few days. She is nine. We went shopping for clothes yesterday and OHMYGOODNESS! We almost didn't make it. Or one of us didn't make it but I cannot say for sure which one would've survived it. It was a lot easier when she was 5 to buy her clothes. Now, she wants THOSE shorts and a DRESS and a HOODIE (in the summer? in south LA?) and she takes forEVER to try things on. She gets something in her head (the ugly shorts, the dress she won't ever wear, ice cream, what have you) and won't. stop. talking. about it. Geesh! We were very successful in our mission though and bought quite a few bottoms and tops that are appropriate for her.
Lastly, this:

Birthday Review With Pictures!
Here are the pictures from my birthday.
Lindsey lighting the candles on the cupcakes she brought me.

Luke cooked hamburgers and french fries so, there are the fries

They are singing to me! I know, everything is messy.

Blowing out the candles... Hope my wish comes true

Lindsey brought me these flowers and these are the cards I got

Luke got me this monogrammed RL polo. The color is brighter in person, not baby pink.

The green horse on the bottom (Luke's guitar)

The monogram in the same green on the shirt.

My feet. I love this polish. It's OPI Russian Navy. Those are my flip flop slippers that I love. I gave Lindsey some for Christmas.

The last half of the Mississippi Mud King Cake. Mississippi Mud is the filling- cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and pecans.
Oh, I forgot to put the picture of my teapot and teas. I have not had a chance to try it out yet. I'm excited to do it though. I got Roobias, Indian Spice, and Hot Cinnamon Spice. I don't know what the Roobias is but, it smells good! Geggie said she got it so, i decided to try it. I need some de-caf tea, too.
Thank you for your support and love during my detox.

Birthday Rewind
*Pictures to come* Yesterday was pretty uneventful during the day. Muffin broke his collarbone (awwwwww) so, Lindsey and I couldn't really go anywhere. That's ok. I love my Muffin ;) He broke it the other day, Tuesday maybe. He is in a sling (he calls it his band-aide) and has medicine. I will post a picture as soon as I get one.I went to my local grocery store (where everybody knows my name...) and bought some staples (3 12-pks of Coke products for TEN DOLLARS!) and saw a cute little boy buying a birthday cake. He said it was his birthday. I told him it was my birthday, too! We were all at the checkout and the cashiers (who are all in high school) and little boy all told me happy birthday and wanted to know why I wasn't buying cake. They were probably very disappointed in my hamburger meat, frozen veggies, orange juice, oatmeal... where is the big pretty cake? I told them all "My best friend told me not to buy my own cake." Luke came home (he's been in Houston since Monday) and cooked hamburgers. Lindsey came over and brought me GORGEOUS roses. They are a beautiful color (red and pinky) and I love them. She also brought me cupcakes and candles!!!!! We sang (they) to me and I made my wish and blew out the candles. Lindsey also gave me two cards that are PERFECT for the two of us. I got a beautiful card from my Nanny Georgia, Uncle Cliston and Donna. Thank you! I loved it. I also got one from Grandma in Georgia. (I have pictures of the flowers and the cards, the cupcakes and candles, etc) The three of us ate hamburgers, egg rolls (Lindsey brought them- yes, I'm a pig), and cupcakes. It was all really good. I'm so glad Lindsey came and did that for me. My mom, dad, bro, Mamaw, Papa, Keith, etc are all in New Orleans. I got tons of text messages and e-mails. I got a phone call from Maria, Madison, McKenzie & Daniel (& Susan). They sang Happy Birthday to me. Very sweet :) So cute. My mom called and talked to me. She also commented on my birthday post. LOVED IT! Lindsey and I watched Project Runway from Wednesday on DVR. She'd already seen it but, that's what best friends are for. Christian's boots cracked us up! The dress he and Chris created was WHOA! Also, Jillian and Victorya's THREE looks were FABULOUS!! We were blown away by the detail and creativity put into the avant-garde look of Jillian and Victorya. We also loved Sweet P's wearable grey dress. I do not think Kit should've gone home. So, that was my birthday. Tomorrow (Saturday) we (the FAM) are going out to dinner. I have sooooooooo many clothing and shoe options! I'm so excited. Plus, pressies from: Mom & Dad AND Mamaw & Papa! P.S. I have not gotten my tea pot, etc in yet but, I did get a RL Polo shirt in pink with my monogram in green (I have a pic)P.P.S. Thank you ALL very much for your birthday wishes via comments, e cards, texts, e mails, calls, etc... I appreciate the love and well wishes. You are all so sweet and good to me! I know that this will be a great year. P.P.P.S. I only didn't hear from one person but, it's OK because I know he was/is VERY VERY busy. P.P.P.P.S. My cough, headache and mojo (hee hee) all seem to be back! The first two with a vengeance. Oh, and to save us all from more P's and S's: I have to finish LOST. That's what I'll be doing tonight. 27 Years

It was drama from the start.
On January 17, 1981, I was yanked from the comforts of my poor mother with forceps. A heart rate dip or something caused the doctor to panic and decided I needed to be born. right. NOW. At 1:49 am, I was. "He's a SHE," is what they told my anxious parents because, they'd been saying I was a boy. Can you imagine? ME a boy? Again, the heart rate or something.
The doctors had been wrong about me from the beginning. They'd put my due date 2 weeks earlier and so everyone said I was 2 weeks late. When I was born, they realized this was not the case.I was actually early. I was not late at all. I was not, in fact, a boy.
I was very scrawny and not cute at all. I weighed 6lbs 6oz, was 21 in long and was all beat up from my rough entrance. I had a black eye, black ear ("bruised and battered" is what my mom says) and was long and skinny. I was completely bald. I was until I was 2. I've seen pictures and it wasn't pretty. I wasn't pretty.
But, there I was. Mom was a mommy and Daddy was a daddy and we were a family. Mamaw and Papa were grandparents! Keith was an uncle (he hated it :) ). MawMaw Beverly and PawPaw Harry had a 4th grandchild and 2nd granddaughter. My Nanny Susan was a Nanny (my godmother) and an Aunt. I also was born with great-grandparents. PawPaw Danny (I was his first great-grandchild!), my Mamaw Emma's father, Mawmaw and PawPaw Peter who were my Papa's parents and Monzie who was my MawMaw Beverly's mom.
I've since lost some of these people and added so many. I've been surrounded by fabulous family and friends my entire life and I try very hard to be thankful for that all the time. It's what has kept me going in my darkest hours. The unconditional love of my family and true friends keeps me grounded, honest, happy, alive. It's the greatest gift. When I was young, I did not realize people didn't have family like I did.
In 27 years, I've been through a lot of things- good and bad. I've been baptized, been to the beach, made 99% on standardized testing for years, went to Disney World (twice!), moved out of my childhood home into a rent house, went into therapy, moved into my next home (in that order), went to a high school where I knew no one, smoked cigarettes, smoked other things (just pot!), flirted with boys, learned about death when Brett died, broke rules, got drunk, had fights with friends, acted in plays, had mono, dated Satan-on-earth, became a godmother, received real jewelry, became obsessed with shoes, was a cheerleader, had boyfriends, kissed boys, had my heart broken, cut off all my hair, got a car, been in wrecks, been suicidal, met the love of my life, visited someone in a jail, moved to another state, lived in an apartment, had no money, was a bridesmaid, went to concerts, gone on vacation in an RV, was married on a beach, been married for 4 1/2 years, been pregnant, miscarried, got a brand new car, was given diamonds, found my talents, lost my sweet Pawpaw Harry, spread someones ashes, been to a bowl game, owned designer handbags...
I'm leaving things out, I know. That's just an overview. Who knows what's next? I hope that in the next 27 years I: have children, buy a house, travel to more states, travel to more countries, loose weight, get healthier, own a pair of Louboutains (and maybe Choo's too), and a few more bags, have something I've written be published, go back to school, get season tickets to LSU football, go to more bowl games, own a bigger diamond, volunteer at a great place with children, get back into acting, get off all medication, throw great dinner parties, do things I'm hesitant of doing now.
Thank you to ALL of you! Thank you for reading, for commenting (if you read and don't comment, comment today!!), and encouraging!! I appreciate it so much. Thanks to those of you who have sent me E-Cards or birthday wishes via email.
XOXO,
Kristen

Birthday Present, Part 1
This is my birthday present from Luke. I am not a coffee drinker. I hate it. I hate the smell of it. But tea. I love, love, love tea. I love hot tea and iced tea. I have an electric teapot given to me for my wedding (Sarah, I PROMISE you are getting a wedding present. PROMISE) but, then I went to this site Harney and Sons on the advice of Geggie because of this post. I fell in love! I love Chai tea and wanted to check out the tea that Geggie was talking about so, I browsed. I decided (quickly) that I needed (Muffin speak for something you reeeeeeeally want: example "I need some M&Ms, mama!") a teapot and accessories for loose teas. Here's what I got (it's my birthday present from Luke):It gets tricky here because I don't know if this is what I need or not.
These are two of the teas I bought. Chai (Indian Spice) and Hot Cinnamon Spice. I got one other but, I forgot.
Yes, I LOVE my birthday.(If you hate that- beware). I put a halt on the age getting larger at 21 but, no one listened. I will be 27 years old on Thursday. I like to also think of it as a huge anniversary for my parents and grandparents, too. It marks 27 years that they have been parents and grandparents. We all started that journey together. *I will probably be repeating this on the BIG DAY!* My Lukey and daddy are in Houston (wish I were there with KATE!) for work. A+ is having an NGS tech convention in New Orleans starting tomorrow so everybody in the family (mom, Justin, Keith, Mamaw, Papa, Gussie) are all gonna be there. That's all fine. I am the type of girl who refuses to be ignored and this weekend (or whenever possible) we. will. celebrate. With champagne. Who's in? I forgot! This is not the first present I got for my birthday. My sweeties- Maria, Madison, McKenzie & Daniel gave me a nightshirt with shoes all over it. It says "If the shoe fits, buy it in every color" I will have to take a picture and post it. They gave it to me on Christmas Eve. Normally, I don't open Birthday presents on Christmas but, they begged. If you knew these adorable little babies, you would've given in, too.
