Still Tired But So Happy!
- I'm reading a book about Cajuns and it's not entirely accurate and that kinda pisses me off. Still, I'm a sucker for books about or based in Louisiana.
- What are you reading? I need recs.
- How do people NOT read? My parents have always read to us and are always reading books (for themselves).
- YAY! TV last night, right? Did ya'll watch Grey's and Survivor and I have a crush on DAN on Survivor.
- I've decided on the perfect first and middle names for a baby girl and baby boy. :) Maybe even a Diary nickname.
- No, I'm not pregnant. That is the next big project.
- Moving is weird and fun and exhusting and exciting and emotional. Our first night was great and weird. I couldn't sleep at first because it was SO QUITE!! We lived on a pretty busy street and we had those noisy neighbors. In this house, no noise at all. Even Lay was all quite and sleepy.
- Every single thing in the house is clean- all the clothes and the bed linens and everything. That is just amazing to me.
- I don't understand the need to put drunken, whorey pictures of yourself on MySpace or whatever. I also don't understand the need to beat a dead horse. Let. it. go.

Never As Good

I watched this movie last night on Pay Per View. It was not bad but I read the book and that was SO MUCH BETTER. The story is about Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII's second wife and her sister, Mary, who was his mistress while he was married to Katharine of Aragon.
The movie stars Natalie Portman as Anne which I didn't think was right at first. I thought that Scarlett Johansson would make for a better conniving, manipulative backstabber. Natalie Portman proved me wrong though. She did an excellent job as the seductress and was a great little actress in this movie. I also was surprised by how sexy Eric Bana (Henry Tudor) was in the movie. I don't find him that sexy otherwise.
The movie left so much out! I know that it has to for time and such but I think that it leaves too much out sometimes. I felt that the movie didn't develop the relationship with Anne and Mary and George, their brother. It didn't show how close they were like Philippa Gregory does in the book. Also, some things shown in the movie are factually wrong- Mary Boleyn gives birth to a son, yes, but her first child is a girl, Catherine. Also, the movie never tells you what happened to Mary's first husband, William Carey.
I love this kind of stuff. I recommend that you read Philippa Gregory's books if you enjoyed the movie. I am reading something else right now but when that is done, I'm going to read this. Have you seen the movie? Have you read the book? Labels: books, Movies, review

Shoeaddict and Friends Book Club Update
I should have done this last night but I didn't . I'm sorry. I was otherwise engaged (say that in a syrupy, sweet, southern drawl). The discussion on our very first book, The Mercy of Thin Air, is one week from today. Most of you will be reading this tomorrow though so, I'll give you the exact date again. It's Wednesday, August 6th. I am not set in stone as to how it will go. I know that there are discussion questions in the back of the book and we will be discussing those for sure. For those of you who are still reading or who have not started, if you come across a question or a point you want to discuss, jot it down and either send it to me (email it at shoeaddict 17 at gmail dot com with no spaces between) or I guess we can bring those points up. I want to have a place for readers (yours, mine, ours) points, questions, comments. I have not started reading again because I want it to be FRESH! I did this my whole life in school when we had to read books for school. I did not read my summer books in May or June or July. I had them because my mom bought them but I read the week (OK, night!) before the test. I usually work better under pressure. I love this idea of a book club. I love thinking that we are all reading the same thing. All of you who are reading or who have read, you are reading about towns that are very close to my heart. Towns that play huge roles in my childhood, my teenage years, my dating life, my life with the lovely Sarah T. I'm a Louisiana girl, through and through. I've always been proud of that. Back to the club, right? What I'd like for you to do is tell me here (1)whether you plan to participate next week in the big discussion, (2) if you've read the book, (3) where you are in the reading or buying process, (4) your name and (5) do you want a Book Club Souvenir? I need to know who wants one/who is participating so I know how to order. Please play along!!! Also, if you have ideas about how this discussion should go, please leave them for me. I would love to hear it. I want to meet as many needs as possible. I know that Amy wants us to start later in the day. I'm thinking of doing a separate blog (ANOTHER ONE!) so that everything is right there and the questions can be answered at anytime. I'm thinking of that. I'll get a professional blog designer to do it all up for me. They can help me with things that I am not even thinking of. Let me know of suggestions for those too. I want lots of people to do this book club thing and love it. Hope your week is going great! Labels: books, Diary Book Club, I want, reader partipation

Book Stuff
- The giveaway ends tonight at 6pm Central time. So, you still have time to enter!I'm using the Random.org to choose the winner. I'll probably let ya'll know tonight who won.
- The Diary and Friends Book Club (I changed the name)(maybe I'll have bookmarks or something made up for us!), is growing! I have not updated that list yet though. I think I'm not going to because it's not necessary for you to tell me now that you're joining. You may not get a bookmark or whatever, but.... :)
- I'd love to know who has ordered their book (I know Kelli & Kate have)for DFBC and who has actually started reading it when that happens.
- Amazon.com has some copies of <u>The Mercy of Thin Air
- I decided to start reading one of my other books because I want Mercy to be fresh in my mind. I love Adele Parks. I have read quit a few of her books.
- Off topic from books, do ya'll watch Flipping Out on BRAVO? I freaking love that show. "Bonjour, Chez Louis" How funny!

Diary Book Club- Updated
This is my 700th post and I have an announcement! I've decided to start that book club since there was some interest. I'm very excited! The first book we will read is The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Dominique. It is set in 1920's south Louisiana (I'm set in modern day south Louisiana)! It looks like Amazon is out of them right now, Kelli ordered hers from Paperback Swap, if you are interested in that. I'm sure your library has copies. I'll keep you posted about Amazon. If you are having a problem finding the book, let me know. In the back of the book, there are questions for discussion and I'll try to keep some notes, too. Also, you'll email (or leave in comments) questions or points you want discussed. Then, we'll all gather round and discuss all the questions and points being brought up right here at the Diary. How awesome!! I figure one month is enough time to read the book. If it's not enough time you will just tell me that you need more time and that is fine. If everyone finishes before then, that is great too. We are just working out the kinks here the first few times. You can always email me with questions and concerns, book ideas, etc at shoeaddict17 at gmail dot com. We'll have our big book club meeting on Wednesday, August 6th starting at about 10am. How's that sound? Who's in? Let your friends know, too. I'm thrilled beyond imagination about this because I miss school and fun discussions like this. I wish I could have you all over to my house and we could really talk about books (and shoes and marriage and life). Please feel free to email me with any kind of anything, okay? The book is a little confusing because it jumps back and forth between time periods. This is what I read that made me order it. Updated- Ok, those are you who are participaticing are:
-Kate
-Chel (Hello! She used to live here in LA)(Oh! She reviewed Poetic Wax on Chic Critique)
-Lesli
-Kelli
-Amy (from LA and lives here)
-GEG (from N LA but lives in Chicago)
That is 6, 7 including me. I'm hoping that Sarah joins, too *hint, hint*. I'm excited! Did I mention that?

Booking It (too you)(a giveaway!)
I read a lot. I have lots and lots of books, too. I'm talking a lot. I've decided to try and do reviews here after I have read the book(s). Oh, and do some giveaways every now and then to get rid of the books. I read them and they are in great condition (mostly) so, they just take up space. I have two books to review and one to giveaway today.
The first book is the above by Emily Giffin (photo from Amazon). I've read Giffin's first two books Something Borrowed and Something Blue which were good. They tied into each other. This book was different. It's about a girl named Ellen who is newly married and lives in New York City. She runs into her first love on the street one day and wonders "what-if" as he continues to pop up in her life.
I liked this book but did not love it. I found Ellen unrelatable in some parts of the book, for me. This is clearly subjective as you may find her very relatable. I don't want to say exactly which parts I mean because I'll give away large parts of the story. It's good to read about how different people feel and react though. I know she's not a real person but the writer is and she writes from a real place.
Did you read this? What did you think?

The book I just finished is the above Mrs Kimble by Jennifer Haigh. This novel is the author's first. She has a new one out that I'm interested in reading because I loved her voice. In Mrs Kimble, we read about Ken Kimble's three wives and families and what his marrying (and leaving) them does to their lives. The book spans twenty some odd years and a few states.
This book was just riveting. I loved it. The characters were fabulous and well written. The women, though all different in age and background, were all tragic and broken in someway. Even though that was the case, I still didn't feel like they were all sad and depressed and completely helpless. I'm very impressed by Jennifer Haigh and am going to read her other books.
Unfortunately, I am only giving away Love the One You're With because Mrs Kimble got wet and is a mess. I'm too embarrassed to send it out to someone. Here is how the giveaway will go: (1) leave me a comment here letting me know that you want to win this book (you can leave a comment even if you don't want to win, just say you don't want to win) (2) tell me what you are reading now or what you read last (3) be sure I have your e mail info (4) do all of this BEFORE Wednesday July 9th at 6pm when I'll announce the winner (I'll do random number or names in a bag)
Okay! How's that? I'm excited. Whoever wins might get an extra bonus book, too. We'll discuss it (or not. ha ha) Anyway, I'm dying to do a sorta book club like thing where we (or some of us) read the same book and periodically talk about it. I'll be happy to host it here. I'm about to start reading The Mercy Of Thin Air. I actually read a few pages and it's so fabulous already, I'm thrilled. It's set in New Orleans in 1920 and it's about a woman who dies but is caught between worlds or something- it's so amazing. So, just let me know.

Edge Of My Seat
I needed some books for my trip to St Thomas. I picked up two and then just couldn't get into them for one reason or another. This sometimes happens to me. I like them and I did begin to get into one on the way back home.
We were in St Thomas and on Monday, the third day we were there, I needed to stay in because I was sick. I roamed around the living room and saw that there was a collection of books in an armoire-type thing. I found one called Alone by Lisa Gardner. I was drawn to it immediately because I have another one of her books and I liked it a lot. I picked it up and went out to the pool.
This book is amazing! It was hard for me to put it down at night to go to sleep. By the time we were ready to pack up and go home I wasn't finished with the book yet. My mom and brother told me that I couldn't take it even if I left a note and money. UGH! I got home and immediately ordered it from Amazon.
It is so action packed and scary. I would get freaked out but I couldn't abandon it. It was so good and I definitely recommend it to all of you who enjoy murder mystery and mayhem. Labels: Book Review, books, love

Messin Up The Bed

*As per the new rule, "All My Friends Say" (my SIL Haley's song) was on when I started writing.
I am reading a book about a fashion stylist for a London magazine (fiction). Her name is Emily and she has a great job. She gets to (among other things) go to all the major fashion shows in Milan and Paris and New York. While on one of those trips, she meets Miles, a sexy Australian photographer. She and Miles began having a sexy "fashion-show-fling"but, our dear Emily is married.
When she leaves the hectic hustle and bustle glam of the fashion world, she goes back to London to her husband, Oliver. Emily says she feels no remorse because her sex with Miles has nothing to do with her life with Ollie. When she's at home in London, she's with Ollie and they have a great relationship and the book goes through all of that.
Here is why I just had to write. Not because all of that is crap, morally, it is, of course. It's because I also watch Dancing with the Stars. Do you watch? Ever watched? Know what I'm talking about? These people are on the semi-finals this week and I think Samantha Harris said they'd been practicing and dancing together for 3 months. That is a lot of time learning all these moves and dedicating time and energy to each other. All of the "stars" left are married.
Point, I'm coming to find you. I began thinking of this while watching DWTS tonight. Well, I think about it every single season. The girls dress very provocatively. The dancing itself is very sexy and close and often suggestive. I would NOT want my husband to dance the way they dance, with anyone but ME. Period, end of story. I guess this is another matter though because some of them are actors and actors do that. This is a job.
Ok, here is the thing: the point (YAY! Finally, right?). My Blue and I have been together for over 8 and a half years, 9 at the end of July. Our 5th wedding anniversary is the 24th of this month. We were both only 18 when we got together.
Now, huh, it was with fingers crossed that I wore that big white dress on my wedding day. (SHOCKED- I know) Before we were married, before we were 100% serious, there were some unfinished business for both of us. I still lived in LA, he lived in GA. We met at the beach in FLA (just to catch you up and to reinforce)... We had to be sure. Plus, it was hard to have the long distance thing going.
I was just out of a horrible relationship with satan, but he still managed to be where I was on occasion or try to at least. He needed to go away. There was a guy that I liked BEFORE Blue that was complicated. Paths needed to be smoothed and during that time of smoothing, kisses may have happened or whatEVER, but then by the next May we were together. I was 19. I was married at 22.
I AM NOT going to act like I don't have crazy crushes on tons of guys. Hell, I've mentioned a few of them here (Matthew Mc, Josh Holloway, Chris Long, Chef Tom, LUKE PERRY) and Blue knows of them too. Plus, Blue and I were 18 when we met. EIGHTEEN. We were wild for awhile. We did some wild stuff in our drinking days. NO, we were not swingers, we've never had a third party in our bed, nothing like that. We have grown up together in a way and I've told him all of his friends that I thought were so cute and vise versa. Now we've moved away from his childhood home so it's different.
The thing is while I am just like every other person with sexual desires, maybe I'm behind, maybe I'm not. Maybe I "missed out" like so many people say I did by getting together with him so young. Maybe not. I think about it. I cannot say that during low times in my marriage I never thought, "I'm never gonna kiss anyone else?" What sobered me always always always is the thought of his pain. I could never, would never willingly hurt him like that.
I just don't think I'm in the minority. The statistics say I am though. If divorce is so prevalent than people can't be thinking they don't want to hurt their spouse. But, that's not the only reason I don't cheat. No, of course not. Even after 8 and a half years, when I think of who I really, really want to run to, who I want to see smile, who I want to hold me, who I want to mess up the bed with.... it's Luke.

Back On Track
For some reason, I didn't read any books in October or November. It's a record for me. I usually read 3-5 books a week. Those were the months Luke was gone and I stayed with mama and daddy. My routine was different. I watched TV with mama and I read magazines in spurts. Things are back on track, though. I recently finished Best Friends by Martha Moody. It was a really great book. I thought it was well written. It follows college roommates, Clare Mann and Sally Rose through adulthood, into careers and marriages, tragedies and triumphs. The author goes forward and back in time but, not too much, just enough to keep the writing fresh. The plot is a little on sad side. It makes you think about what you would do with information, knowledge. If you knew something terrible that could really hurt someone you love, would you, could you, should you, tell them?
I finished Best Friends and immediately began Good Little Wives by Abby Drake. It was a fun, quick read about older, rich, trophy wives with a murder among them. The story follows 4 of New Falls "wives of" as they try to figure out who murdered the ex-husband of one of their old friends. All the wives have secrets, all of them are suspects and it was a good book. Not earth-shattering, not edge-of-your-seat but, good.
I just finished Good Little Wives and I'm just opening The Other Mother by Gwendolen Gross. It appears to be very engaging and thought-provoking. It's about two different mothers who live near each other, a working one and a stay-at-home one. A pregnant first timer and a seasoned mother of three who have different views of parenting and "the two women find themselves both drawn to and repelled by each other and their opposing choices..." (from the inside jacket) I'm excited to dig into this story.
As per usual, I try to follow a "serious" book with a more light-hearted one so, the one after The Other Mother will probably be this one, Smart Girls Like Me by Diane Vadino. More on this book and on The Other Mother as I progress.
What are you reading? Be sure to tell me a little about the book in case I have no clue. I'm open to all books except Sci-fi. I don't just read chick-lit or depressing stuff!

I'm All About
I'm always wondering what people are reading, eating, watching, etc. I'm always all about something. It's just so me. I thought I'd give you a peek into what I'm All About right now (that's the key phrase).
I love candles. I have several of these Votivo Red Current ones around the house. I also love Henri Bendel candles. Lindsey gave me this Lavender Leaves one and since I've been having a migraine for three days- I've been burning it. I also have Mimosa and Tuberose. I want Fig and Firewood.
I always loved Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream but over the Thanksgiving weekend, Justin bought me this. Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie! It's soooo amazingly delish. My absolute favorite ice cream is cookies and cream or Oreo or something like that so this is PERFECT! Yummy.
Our
microwave doesn't turn anymore. I don't know why. So, I cannot pop popcorn. I bought a few bags of it at the store the other day. I got Smartfood white cheese popcorn and it's sooooo yummy. I opened a bag of this stuff last night and it's just weird. Weirdly fascinating. Puffcorn. It's like non-food, air, butter flavored. I saw that they have cheese flavored and I'm ashamed to admit that I'll probably buy some.
I drink regular Diet Coke in the A.M.- maybe one (two if it's a bad day) but, caffeine doesn't do well with me after that. So, I've been drinking this before switching to water. It's so good. I am still drinking A LOT- remember how I told you that I drink so much. Yeah, still do.
This is the book I'm reading. I started it on Sunday. It is excellent. It's about two girls, Sally Rose and Clare Mann, who meet in college and become best friends. The book follows the two through life: marriages, divorces, births, deaths, joys, and pains. The book is really good. I have not finished it, yet but I plan to tonight. Anyone else read it?
I watched this movie, Waitress, yesterday afternoon. It was written and directed by Adrienne Shelly (who also had a part in the movie). She was sadly murdered in her office apartment in November of last year, before the movie went to the Sundance Film Festival. Her two-year-old daughter, Sophie, has a cameo in the movie. I'm drawn to the movie because I love, love, love Keri Russell. I also am drawn to the story of Adrienne Shelly. I am a woman writer and was an actress. Her husband started The Adrienne Shelly Foundation for woman filmmakers. I would love to be a screenwriter, director, actor. As far as the movie, it's about Jenna (Keri Russell) a waitress who makes incredible pies. She is in a terrible marriage and becomes pregnant. She is not happy to be and that's very poignant and real. Not every mother is jumping for joy. It's not really a feel good movie but, I really loved it. It was funny and sad. Andy Griffith gives a fabulous performance.

If I'm not dying of pain from the migraine, I'll be watching these shows tonight. It's the finale of ANTM. I want Chantal to win. I am so praying for the writers strike to be over because it's seriously going to depress me when all my shows go away for good.
Now it's your turn. What are you reading, watching, doing, loving, loving, loving?

I'm So Lovin...
I got this from sweet Megan at
SortaCrunchy. She is a sweetheart! She has some links to others who've done this, too.
This Month...
The Book I Am Really Into (or one I want to get into!): Ahhh, books! I've been so yuck in the book department lately. I just started to pick it up, though- accepting the fact that the Stephenie Meyer Vampire books are not for me. I just finished Sandra Brown's
Ricochet and it was fantastic! I'm going to read
Jacquelyn Mitchard's Still Summer next. Who knows what will be after that!
TV Show Worth Watching: I love TV as any regular reader of the Diary knows. I watch a lot of TV and even started another blog just to talk about it (
Shoeaddict Says)! The NEW shows that I love the most are:
Cane, Pushing Daisies, & Dirty Sexy Money. Old favorites are:
House, Two and a Half Men, Law & Order (all of them) &
Grey's. I'm a huge fan of reality TV, too so I'm loving that
The Amazing Race is coming back soon (Sunday!)
Movie I’ve Seen (In or Out of a theater): Like Miss Megan, I cannot even tell you when the last time I stepped (my adorable) foot in a theatre to see a movie on the big screen but, I have a list of things I want to see. Luke HATES the movie theatre- people, prices, blah, blah, blah. We've been maybe 3 times together in 8 years. Yes, you read that right. I'm interested in Halle Berry's new
movie. Oh, and this
one and this
one. On DVD, I just watched
this and I loved
this. I just bought
Marie Antoinette because
Naomi said I'd love it.
The Candle I'm Loving: I love, love, love
Votivo's Red Current. It's my number one favorite. I use
this a lot when I have headaches. I also like the Henri Bendel Candles at Bath and Body Works and Sarah C. recommended the
Fig, so I want that.
Blog I Am Always Visiting: That's not a fair question! I visit everybody's blog who has visited mine (at least once). I know it's not a blog but, I'm always at People.com! I'm also always at celebrity gossip blogs.
What I'm Most Looking Forward To Next Month: I have lots of great things coming up in November! Next weekend is our annual "A" family reunion. It's a big Cajun thing. We rent out a huge place that's like a dormitory on about 9 acres of land. This family is the brother and sisters of my Mamaw (mom's side)- and their kids and their kids. My great-grandfather, Papa Doomey(who died when I was 2- I'm the oldest of his great-grandkids and the only one who he knew), and great-grandmother, Mary (who died when my mom was 7), had 4 children: My Mamaw, my Aunt Georgia, my Uncle Nelson and my Aunt Shirley. My Aunt Shirley is only 3 years older than my mom and they grew up like sisters. My Mamaw has 2 kids and 6 grandkids plus an "in-law" (me included and Luke the "in-law"). Only my mom, dad, brother and myself are going in her "clan" (and her and Papa). My Aunt Georgia is married to Uncle Cliston and they have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. Donna is their daughter. Aunt Georgia, Unc and Donna are going the whole weekend. Their oldest daughter, Missy, and her husband and daughter will come for the day as will my cousin Mark and his 4 sons. Their youngest daughter, Nancy, who is 2 years older than me, lives in England with her husband. Uncle Nelson, his wife Patti and their son Jean Pierre are coming for the weekend. Uncle Nelson was married before to my Aunt Pat who is the mother of my 4 cousins- Cherina, Ashley, Mary and Dori. Ashley and Dori live in Portland and Mary lives in Costa Mesa, CA. She and I are very close. I think she's going to come for Christmas. Finally is Aunt Shirley. She and her husband have 3 children: Chad, Brandi and Amanda. Chad and his wife, Jennifer have Dylan and Lauren (who is in LOVE with Luke). Brandi and her husband, Blaine, have Hunter and Macy. Then, Amanda, who is almost exactly 1 year older than me, has Austin, Addie and baby
Aidan. They are all going. It's a blast! Thanksgiving is also in November and I love that holiday!
So, I just told you my entire family tree (not even close) and I'm sure you're bored to death! I had to write it all down for Luke ;) Who else wants to do this? Let me know if you do it, 'K.

Shoeaddict's Buzz
First, the fashion-

CATE BLANCHETT at the "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" photocall in Rome 10/19

JENNIFER CONNELLY with husband PAUL BETTANY at the L.A. premiere of "Reservation Road". She is never, ever consistent. he looks like, "Oh, I know, she looks whack!"

ORLANDO BLOOM in West Hollywood. He looks cute.

I thought it would be of interest to some of you to hear this story. I know that TONS of you blogging moms have bought JESSICA SEINFELD's new cookbook about hiding veggies in food. Mrs. Seinfeld's book is the number 1 book in the U.S. right now but, she may not be on top for long. it turns out she isn't very creative- not with the idea for the book or the recipes! Missy Chase Lapine, wrote The Sneaky Chef, a cookbook that came out in April that has some of the exact same recipes: mashed potatoes with cauliflower, grilled cheese with sweet potato, green eggs with pureed spinach, brownies with spinach and tacos with carrots. That's kind of a lot to be a coincidence. My mom eats mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes so that kind of thing is understandable but some of that other stuff... Missy Chase Lapine is a chef on the faculty of the New School of NY City, is the former publisher of Eating Well magazine and founded a natural baby care product line called BABY SPA.
JESSICA SEINFELD was in marketing for Tommy Hilfiger. Now, she's married to JERRY SEINFELD and has 3 kids.

What's Goin On- Non-Celeb News (UPDATE- 10:19 PM)

I watched What Not to Wear last night. I love that show and would love to have Stacey's job. I would love to be their friend because they are hilarious. I don't think that Stacey is pretty per Se, she is attractive, though. Last night, the first episode was about a girl who had dreadlocks for 10 years. Uhhh! You could smell her through the TV. Her clothes had holes and stains and Stacey cracked me up. Neither one of them wanted to touch her, her hair or her clothes. She had some kind of wonky pinkie toe thing going on, too. Oh, and dreadlock girl- her name was KRISTEN! Great. She had the shoes with HOLES in them where her wonky pinkie toe poked out and it was weird.
I love when Stacey says, "If those were the last shoes on Earth, I'd cut off my feet!"
I'm watching this weeks America's Next Top Model. I'm not going to lie. I cannot because people who know me (Lin, Sarah C., Mom) read this and WILL call me out because they are like that!! I am not the type of girl who thinks she's ugly. Fat, yes. I've never been the type who thought I was ugly because I'm not. I don't think I'm about to knock Heidi Klum off her pedestal but, ugly I am not. Anyway, I am still amazed at these girls on ANTM. When I was younger and thinner, I was not bitchier. I can't believe the mean that some of these girls spew at each other! I guess it makes for good TV but, I just want to see pretty locations, clothes and makeup. Oh, and Nigel- he's a hottie. I also love Miss J and Jay the director. Tyra. *sigh* I have so many different feelings about her. She's over-the-top which I don't have a problem with as I've been known to have a certain flair for the dramatic. She is just a little inconsistent at times with her beliefs.
Tonight, as I was driving down to the little grocery to get milk, I got to listen to one of Luke's CD's that he just made. Green Day's "Time of Your Life" came on and stirred up my feelings. Green Day has been a band that Luke and I have enjoyed during our love. Luke and I are music people. He plays the guitar. We bonded over that because I grew up listening to my beloved daddy playing the guitar. We also really, really, really loved Nirvana. I remember being in a very different stage my freshman year than my friends. I listened to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Better Than Ezra, Smashing Pumpkins,Bush, Stone Temple Pilots and I had a flannel shirt that I wore ALL.THE.TIME. But, I was still totally girly and boy CRAZY and what not.
Luke was like me but, a boy! He was a very popular (I was NOT popular) football player who had lots of friends and girl friends. He was a jock, a prep, and into all the grunge band stuff. Now, we are the same way. We love "jam bands" like Widespread Panic. Luke is a major Grateful Dead fan. We just don't fit into a mold.
Back to the song. "I hope you had the time of your life." The time of your life. WOW. When have you had the time of your life? That's a big question, for me anyway. Even though I think it's a Whoa thing, I can tell you when I had the time of my life. It was the first week I spent with Luke. Then, the other couple of weekends we spent together when we were first together. Our first week together was SO much fun. There was the beach which I love. Tons of people and lots of fun! We all sang and danced, played games, talked, swam, and met people. I wore a two piece bathing suit. I wore short shorts (Who wears short shorts). There was drinking, laughing, family, boys. The only thing I would've changed is Lindsey. I love you, LINDSEY!!
*Cooper and Lindsey called me last night and got my voicemail. Well, Lin did and Muffin kept saying "Hey, Kristen! Hey!" I kept the message. I love when he loves me. Don't y'all want to see more pictures of him? YAY!!
My house is a wreck and I have no energy to do more than one little thing at a time. Dirty dishes are piled in the sink and the dishwasher is waiting to be unloaded. There are towels that need to be washed. My bedroom is overwhelmed with clutter. I'm embarrassed to even get anyone to come help me. *Sigh* So, yeah...
I am also getting a little nervous because I finished "Twilight", "New Moon", "Mommy Tracking", etc... I'll be reviewing "Testing Kate" and "Mommy Tracking" by Whitney Gaskell (both fabulous!). I'm almost finished with Pattie Boyd's "Wonderful Tonight..." and I'll do something on it. I don't like not having a pile of books waiting! I do have "Second Chance" by Jane Green that I've already started and I have "She, Myself & I" by Whitney Gaskell. Tell me what to get next. PLEASE!!!
I'm also working on finding a foundation for Jill at EVERYDAY. Let me know YOUR make up questions.
Lastly, TIGERS WIN AGAIN!!!! LSU-28 South Carolina-16. These are the most points the TIGERS have allowed in a game this season. Now, the GEORGIA DAWGS just have to win and everything will be good in this house. (It's 20-10 Dawgs!!)

Dawgs are TIED with Alabama. Oh my heart!! Oh, Alabama just scored a fieldgoal. Good grief. I'm about to have a heart attack. Nick Satan CANNOT win. OHHHHHHH TOUCHDOWN DAWGS!!! FINAL- 26-23. Way to go Mikey! Mark Richt is an amazing coach. I bet Luke done loss his mine...

Shoeaddict Asks...
What book(s) are you reading?

What are you reading next?
What did you just finish?
What are you dying to read (or just interested in)?
My answers- I am reading: "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer (please let it get better. She's on the motorcycles.), "Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me" by Pattie Boyd (loving it- to Liza- according to her "Something" was written for her), "Second Glance" by Jane Green (just started this tonight b/c I couldn't do either one of the above).
I've recently finished: "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer and "Testing Kate" by Whitney Gaskell
Next up, "She, Myself & I" by Whitney Gaskell and "French Relations" by Fiona Walker
I'm interested in reading other Jodi Picoult books but, cannot remember the names. What should I read?

Hey, Let Me Tell You...
Thank you for all your well wishes! It's soooo sweet to read things like that. I'm still feeling really yucky. I don't have a migraine anymore (knock on wood, took meds last night and woke up free of it) but, the sneezing and coughing is worse. I have a sore throat now, too. I'll have to try really hard not to scream when I watch the
TIGERS tonight. I finished "Twilight" on Thursday night. I really did like the latter part of the story. I just found the beginning to be, well, ummmmm... kinda boring. I also thought it was sorta obvious that it was written by a first-time novelist. It just took her a little while to find her groove and tell the story smoothly. The action in the second part of the book was great and did cause me to dive right in and lose track of time. **
SPOILERS**I've started "New Moon" and it's OK. La, La, La... Bella is depressed. She is depressed. She is so depressed. She has no life if she cannot be with Edward. WHAT? That's a great lesson. I hope girls that are her age don't read these books. BUT, then again, I want her to become a vampire!! I know the book will get better and I will stick with it. I got the Patti Boyd book in, though, so I will be reading both.
I'm going to do the Fall shoes next week, I promise!! There are some
gorgeous shoes out there that I love, love, love and I know you'll find something you'll like, too. I know you'll have an opinion on something!! I go to see my endocrinologist on Monday at 2:30. I don't know if I'll post before then. I am praying that he can help me. I want him to be able to adjust my meds so I will have more
Energy, so I will be less dizzy, so I will have more (any) stamina. I am so disgusted with myself. I'm over-weight and I can't exercise. I can't even leave the house sometimes!! I really cannot stand it and need a jump start. Finally, yesterday, the 7th, was my daddy's birthday. If you know me IRL, you know that I'm the definition of a
DADDY'S GIRL. My dad is the sweetest, most giving, cutest, cheesiest, strongest, most loving, BEST dad in the universe. I love him more than words can ever, ever, ever say. Most people do love my dad! Linds, Sarah- right, he's a great guy?? I have to say that when it comes to parents, I hit the JACKPOT!!!
Picture from Aunt Pat's party (sorry it has some one's thumb!) From l-r... My cousin Mary, Daddy, ME, & My cousin Dori
We'd been eating crabs and hanging out outside all day so, we were hot and sweaty!!
Happy Weekend, my loves!

Book Happ'nins
Right now, I'm reading this by Jodi Picoult.

It's very good. It's a story about a woman who gets left by her husband and her 7-year-old daughter sees everything. The family has never been religious but, all of a sudden, the little girl begins to quote Bible passages, perform miracles, and claim she's talking to God. I'm in the middle of the book or the almost middle and it's very good.

The above is my next book. I love Jane Green. Well, there was one book of hers that I couldn't keep reading. I'm not sure if I remember the name. When I do, I will let you know. "Bookends" and "The Other Woman" are both very good.

This book, "Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me" is by the lady who inspired such favorite songs such as: "Something" (George Harrison), "Layla" (who our dog is named after), and "Wonderful Tonight"(Eric Clapton). I am waiting for this one to arrive. Can't wait!
I've recently finished "Testing Kate" by Whitney Gaskill. I liked it. It was set in New Orleans because Kate attends Tulane Law School. I am *maybe* book reviewing it.
I was reading "Mercy" by J. Picoult but, I just had to stop. There's adultery and the book is about a man who kills his wife because she asks him too. She is dying of cancer. I just couldn't keep going anymore. The adultrey and the cancer and all... it was just depressing me. I'll go back to it.
What are you reading?
Do you ever get too involved in your books?

Book Review-2 (and then I kinda ramble, sorry)
"Picture Perfect" is by the amazing author, Jodi Picoult. Her books are not light, easy reads but, meaningful and thought provoking. I've read about teen suicide in "The Pact", child abduction in "Vanishing Acts", teen pregnancy and baby killing on an Amish farm in "Plain Truth", child molestation in "Perfect Match" and a daughter who wants to be medically emancipated from her parents in "My Sister's Keeper".
In "Picture Perfect", Cassie Barrett, an anthropologist, meets super movie star, Alex Rivers, when she serves as his technical adviser on a movie set. After a whirlwind courtship, they marry quickly and quietly in the Serengeti. Picoult takes us through a marriage where people's past cannot be shaken off and the truth will come out somehow. It's also a story about people not feeling as they belong. Cassie, the simple scientist, doesn't feel comfortable in the glitzy Hollywood world. And Alex has trouble with shedding his past and feeling comfortable in his own skin or even knowing who he is.
One thing I love about Picoult is that she takes these topics that seem so black and white and shows you where there are shades of grey.
*There is sex and violence so I rate it an R.*
*I'm wondering if anyone read "The Pink Ghetto" from book review number 1
*Let me know if you plan to read this book or have read it or any other J.P. book.
*My next Picoult book is "Mercy"
*I began "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" last night and I. LOVE. IT. No, LOVE!!!! Let me give you a passage at the beginning that made my heart race because, let me tell you, I really do feel this way... sick, I know.
"... pushed the tissue aside, and the heady smell of leather filled her nostrils, sending a familiar tingle straight through her core. The feeling- this thrill-never got old, no matter how many times she went through the ritual.
She touched the tightly stitched leather and smiled. She couldn't help it. This wicked pleasure at its sensuous, tactile, hedonistic best. It made her skin prickle from head to toe.
She ran her fingertips along the smooth surface, skidding over the grace arch, like a cat stretching under the midday sun; she smiled at the sharp but satisfying prick of the spike. Yes. Yesss."
Let me tell y'all that I am there. That is ME. Especially the smell and the arch and spike part. Ohhh, love em. So, that's what I'm finished reading and what I'm reading now. What are y'all reading? "Twilight" or it's sequels?
And yay! Damages comes on tonight!!!! Sometimes that show makes me feel like an idiot (anyone else?) but, I'm sooooo still loving it. And Saving Grace. That show is fantastic. Holly Hunter's character is so multi-layered and the show is brilliantly written.
OK, if you're still reading, you're a champ! Sorry for the super long post.
