I hear that she has a wonderful attitude, like there is nothing wrong. She talks about her future plans with a big smile on her face. And maybe she does have one. I'm the type that believes. The mind is so powerful. And prayer is too. If this entire community is praying for her, who knows? It's all in God's hands.
When something like this happens to someone your own age, someone you know, it's like a big slap in the face. It's so true that you never think it can happen to you or anyone you know but, it can and it does. I'm not at all close to this girl now. I wasn't that close to her in school but, it has shaken me all the same.
She's a young woman who lives where I live. A wife and daughter and sister and friend. And now? I don't know what now. No one knows the answer to that. Or even why her. So, it could be me. Or anyone.
The only thing I can do to help is buy jambalaya! Her family or her friends are putting on a benefit, selling jambalaya plates for $5. The money will be used to help pay for medical expenses. People do this kind of thing all the time around here. If you live in my area and are interested in helping, let me know. If you have a business, they will deliver the food at lunchtime.
If you don't live here, which most of you don't, please just pray. Her name is Amanda. She needs that prayer just as much as that $5.
