My 670th Post!

I've been sick these past few days. I think I had a stomach bug or ate some undercooked chicken or too many nuts. In any event, I'm sure you get the picture. It's been tres unpleasant. Right now it's 3:42 am and I'm watching reruns on Nick at Nite. Roseanne is on right now.

To the left is an adorable picture of my little LSU Muffin Man at the New Orleans Aquarium a few weekends ago. I have not posted a picture of him in forever so, I thought it'd be a great idea to do so now. He's sick right now. Poor baby. You'd not believe how much his vocabulary has grown! He is so smart and funny and full of energy. He is so so so cute. It's crazy because he is really not a baby anymore but a little boy. If you call him a "monkey" or something like that he will say,"No I not! I a little bo-yeeee" It's really cute and funny.

I need advice. I have a really good friend who I will call, M. M has always been fabulous to me. When I was very down and depressed, she came and brought me food, picked me up, drove me places, cleaned my house, took my grocery list and went to the store, etc. She is still so good to me. She is the type of person that I know I can call anytime and she will do what she can to help. I know this because I've seen it happen. The point is, I'd never, ever want to hurt her. Ever.

We have a lot of food. I don't have enough cabinet space and I always buy way too much anyway. Plus, with me trying to be healthier and lose weight, I have a ton of things that need to go. M and her family kinda struggle. I hate, hate, hate to throw away food in any case but to throw away food when I know someone personally who could use it, that is just wrong! I just don't want to insult anyone. She asks me all the time about jobs (my family owns a business, I know other people in town, etc) or ways for her to make money. That is how I know she could use the stuff. Plus, she is my friend.

I just don't want to be seen as the person who is overflowing with food and giving it away. She is my friend. I love her very much. She has a daughter and a husband. I know that she would probably take it but how do I present that? Can I say that I am on a diet and am getting rid of food but didn't want to throw away things? I give her things all the time. She has helped me clean a few times and I give her make up and clothes that I've never worn or used. It's different though when someone is right there going through things with you. Is it OK for me to call her up and tell her that I have food for her? Just casually, no big deal? Tell me the truth.

It's my 670th post!! Coming soon- what I'm reading now (a few books), what you are reading and some book reviews. Let me know if I promised to mail you a book. I'm bad at remembering to do that. I have no problem doing it, I just forget.

Midnight Snack

*Biiiiiig sigh*
It's 1 a.m and I just woke up and came in the back bedroom. I went to sleep at about 9 with a headache but I woke up a little while ago because Luke was snoring. LOUDLY! I have a migraine and I want a doughnut. Yummy, yummy, yummy.

I had a bad day. I just felt awful physically and I feel gross. I'm on my period and I'm still not used to it. I just got off of my birth control pill in December and I am used to taking it continuously and not having a period. This is the 6th day on it and I'm through, friends, through.

Then I am also having major skin problems. I used Philosophy for a long while and I really liked it. I have very dry skin though and felt like I needed something more. I was over zealous and didn't do any homework and while dad and I were at the mall just bought something. It was expensive and pretty but didn't do anything. When HEAVEN opened up at our mall, I went and bought some cleanser and moisturizer (and *cough* other stuff). It's all natural and I really love it. I broke out though. I don't know what the problem is. I go to see the dermatologist on Wednesday. If I have to, I'll bring back all the new stuff and go back to Philosophy.

I am also very, very hairy. I have hair on my neck and throat and face. It's like a man and it's embarrassing. I tweeze/wax my eyebrows but wax irritates and hurts my throat and neck. I used to use a depilatory cream but, my skin is just way too sensitive. I have to use it on too much of my skin and it burns! I'm going to find out about laser treatments. Something has to help me.

So, I was in tears more than once today because I am hairy and pimply and in pain. Cute.

Test

I woke up this morning, well yesterday morning since it's 12:38am on Saturday technically (GAME DAY!!) at 4:30. I watched my DVR'ed Dirty Sexy Money (I blogged about it on the new blog) and My Name is Earl. My mom came to get me at 6:30 and we headed towards our destination. I had a headache.

We got there on time for my 8:00 MRI and I went right on back. I had to take off my bra but, I got to stay in my clothes- no gown! I was told to lay down on the hard plastic and very narrow table. The nice lady then put a blue "hair net" thing over my messy ponytail and proceeded to pull these contraptions over my face and neck. Oh, she gave me headphones with music, too. I was having my neck and brain done, each in 30 minute spans.

I don't know if any of y'all have ever had an MRI done but, this was not my first rodeo, or my second. I knew what I was in for- the noise, the claustrophobia, but I don't think I've ever had the catcher's mask-like thing over my face before and that was rough. It was more that one little part of my nose was touching a part of it and that creeped me out. I'm not especially claustrophobic but, ANYONE will get a touch of it in this situation. I was also in a lot of pain from the migraine PLUS the noise! Oh, the noise. I'm super sensitive to noises. I have bad ears. I had ear infection after ear infection as a child, blew my ear drum, have some hearing loss so, some noises can really drive me crazy.

I also have tremors. When I first had them they were mistaken for seizures. They resemble seizures because my body tenses and I shake and am disoriented. It's a result of pain. I had an episode of that during the end of the first 30 minute session. They brought my mom in and she told them I didn't have seizures (they also had a doctor in) and then let her stay in after that. I've been through LOTS of medical procedures, hospital stays and unpleasant often painful experiences all without my "mommy." I am not afraid to admit that I 100% like it better with my mommy!!!

When there was only 10 more minutes left of the brain portion of the scan, the MRI lady buzzed me out to inject an IV contrast into my vein. Here is another little fun bit of Shoeaddict trivia- I have crap-for-veins. They roll, the stick and they blow. Well, I couldn't see her doing the inserting (I'm weird and I like to see) and she was trying a vein in the crook of my left arm. If I would have thought about it, I would have remembered that those veins had it pretty rough a few weeks ago when I had tons of blood drawn. I know that when one area is used a lot, the veins will eventually blow. Well, it did blow and some of the contrast went into my tissue and it HURT. She stuck me in the right hand, no problem. I'm not afraid of needles at all. The area that blew- ugly little bruise and it still hurts. She said it would "Sting a little bit." Liar.

We finally left. I had a headache. We discussed all kinds of things in the car. Family members, my cousin Donna (she's sick again- please pray for her! Bless her heart!), what we will do next, blah, blah,blah...

OK, fast forward.... Oh, wait I gotta tell y'all! Mom told me that the MRI lady told her that they were calling Dr R's (my neurologist) office to let her know that the test was done and they were sending it over and I was gonna call. We didn't want to wait for the results through the weekend. We both knew that if something were to show up, she would call me but, still. So, I call her office and I get *sigh* PEARL! Oh, to deal with the people I have to deal with in the medical community. Some of these people bend over backwards to help you and are so nice you want to just invite 'em over for Sunday supper (I have a nurse like that). Then you have the Pearls. She has a little bit 'o power seein' as she answers the phone and stands between you and Dr R or her (lovely) nurse Debbie. Maybe she has never had any other power before. Maybe she is oppressed by her husband. Maybe she was picked on in school. I. DON'T. CARE. She is rude to me and is very nosy.

Back to fast forwarding.... Dr R does call me back after I weasel my way around Pearl (a few times) and tells me that the MRI hasn't been officially read but she looked at it and no tumors or aneurysms jump out at her. She did see something on my neck (can't quite remember what she said they were) but, they were not really a big deal. She wants to see me again to discuss another matter which I may or may not discuss. I feel like all I do now is talk about me being sick and I never intended for that to happen.

Thank you all SO MUCH for all your prayers, good thoughts and kind sweet words and emails. I cannot begin to express how much it has meant to have all of you praying for me and asking after me. Some of my own best friends didn't even ask. Blogging has brought such awesome people into my life!

Please let me know your prayer requests! XXXOOO

P.S. GEAUX TIGERS!!!! I'm soooooooooooooooooooo excited!!

So Sorry

I have been having a migraine since late last night/early morning and it's not responding to medication. I'm very sorry that I am not posting my TUESDAY EDITION of WHAT I'M WATCHING. It's taken me until now (5:30 pm) just to get this posted. I'm DVR'ing Dancing, House, and I have no idea what else. I set it all earlier this weekend. Please feel free to let us all know what YOU are watching! I'll be back ASAP...

XOXO

Makeover

Surprise! So, what do you think? It's very cool. I'm very overwhelmed by the differences, though. I don't know how to change things on my sidebar, I barely knew how to sign in, all my comments are lost but, it's pretty and I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Erica did a great job. I just have a migraine and I'm used to the ease of just copying and pasting without worrying about htmls. It's just not a good day for it I guess. I can't deal with the headache. I had one last night and I can't get rid of it.

Hopefully, I will get my medicine around five and I'll be better by this evening.

I'll figure it all out when I have more patience. You know, when my brain is working.

Whining

Today is so hot. It's hot in the house even. I cannot even stand myself. I'm very sensitive to temperature. I'm also very sensitive to caffeine. So, even though I LOVE Diet Coke, I have to be very, very careful with it or I'll get the jitters. My heart beats fast naturally and it's maddening.

I've been having a migraine on and off for two days and while it (by far) has not been what I would call *bad*, I've just been feeling soooo weird. Off.

I have been weak and tingly on my left side. My neurologist has warned me that I have several factors that cause me to be at higher risk for a stroke (migraines, aura, birth control, etc...) so Luke and I kinda watched that the first day. It wasn't like normal "left-side aura". I get tingly on one side or both in one or more or all of my extremities and/or face. That sentence was confusing, right? Ok, normal migraine aura can include tingling in my arms and/or legs. It also can occur in my lips. This has been different.

It started with a very weird heavy feeling in my left leg. That's the only way to explain it- heavy. It was very hard to walk. Then, my face felt numb. I told Luke and we kinda waited. Now, Luke is NEVER worried about me. I'm always sick. There's always something weird going on with me. Nothing rattles him and I'm the dramatic one. Of course this is necessary, we cannot both be like me! He's the laid back one, the practical one and I'm the dramatic, freak out one. The stroke thing he's a little different about, though. Luke has a younger brother (I say younger instead of "little" because he's 6'3" and 255 lbs or so) who is 18 named Graham. 6 months after Graham was born, at Christmas Eve service, their mom had a stroke.

She learned how to walk and talk and all of that along with Graham. Luke was 8 and remembers it very clearly. It was hard for him and his sister, who was 4. She was in the hospital for a long time and she came back different. He is not paranoid. He just takes this a little more serious than others. So, we know all the big stroke signs and made sure that wasn't happening. It's still so frustrating.

This post sucks. I know. I don't know why I'm even going to publish it but, I am.

I'm just so miserable. I'm hot. I'm dizzy. My left side is weak. Oh, and did I mention that I threw up 3 times earlier?? Oh and Luke is not happy with me and that makes feel like a winner! Our friends Abraham and Lisa got married today and Luke stood in the wedding. It was at their house, JOP thing at 3:00. I couldn't go. I tried. I bathed, shaved my legs, and I threw up the whole time.

I hate it. I am not happy. BUT- everyone, send my Lindz (the puts a lil funk to it) some love and positive energy and prayers. I can't talk about it now but, please do it for me!!

Monster come to visit

I feel like I may be going mad. It's really not far-fetched. The pain of these migraines and, in this case, the length, really messes with my mind. I hurt in my eyeballs. I hurt in my ears. My lips, nose & some of my fingers are numb. I have the visual aura. It's like spiders are crawling around my vision... lovely. Or little starbursts of light.
The worst part- I don't know, the actual pain is pretty freakin bad!- is that I'm DUMB!! I can't follow a conversation, can't understand much, can't read... AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Luke comes in here this morning and dumps this packet of new insurance forms on me. He literally dumps them "on me" because I am sleeping and he puts them on my sleeping body and tells me to fill them out. WHAT??? None of it makes sense to me. Life insurance- ok yeah, we want that. Coverage? I don't know? I know his name, DOB, SS# and address. And I know mine. That's about it.
I feel sooooooooooo guilty. Luke doesn't get it. I'm at the point when the pain is really bad (it's eased up a little) that I don't care. But, I feel bad when I haven't done something (like completed the damn papers) because I am in so much pain and I know that he really doesn't get it. Yes, he's been with me and the monsters (migraines) for 7 1/2 years but, ... Nothing stops him from doing what he's suppossed to do. He doesn't understand a pain that stops you dead. Guess what- I don't want to either!
I feel like I'm dying. Oh, God, I wish I were!!! An ice pick in the head would feel so good. HAHAHAHA! So, who's sick of me? Yeah, well, it's my blog! It's my blog and I will whine if I want to.... No, don't go, I really want people to read.
It's just a bad day.
I'm off to feed poor Layla and to get something to drink. I'm crazy thirsty when the monster comes!
