Skin Problems and Solutions
Yeah, so this week I'm going to the dermatologist again. My face is crazy. It's covered in acne in the chin and cheek area, yet it is dry in the forehead. I've got problems. I still have not found a moisturizer that I am in love with. When I went to see this derm in May, she told me to quit using all the special (umm, expensive) lotions and creams and just use Cetaphil soap to clean my face and body and Cetaphil lotion on my face. I don't mind the Cetaphil on my face as a cleanser when I'm at home and don't use makeup. When I go out though, I have to wear concealer (I have one that I LOVE) and powder and blush and all of that stuff. I need more than just the Cetaphil. I used the Aveeno Pads and I liked them. I need the exfoliation. BUT, I think the Aveeno Pads might be too rough to use everyday. I'm gonna ask her (doc) when I go on Tuesday. The concealer that I use that I really love is Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage. It's two tones and so it blends in perfectly with my skin color and covers the redness. It feels pretty good, too. It doesn't sweat off easily either. Check it out if you have any of those problems. I also use the Setting Powder. I'm going to try her foundation when I need more. I'll let you know how it goes with the derm... Labels: doctors, skincare
Just Add Water
I had to share about one of my favorite new things lately. I say lately because I will be in love with something else soon. You know that. Anyway, I bought these on a whim and I love them. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads are soap-free and have a smooth side and an exfoliating side. They are easy, easy, easy and quick as 1,2,3! My skin looks really great! I follow up with my Cetaphil or a few times a week my moisture mask. I have had a few breakouts but then again my hormones have been through a lot lately. My overall skin is great. Huh. I was shocked too. Turns out that I spent tons of money for no good reason. Anyone want a CLOSET full of barely used facial products? No, seriously... Angel In A White Coat
I went to see the dermatologist yesterday. I lost it in her chair. How embarrassing, I know. I'm just so tired of having gross, ugly, itchy skin. She has a plan to help me with all of my problems though. Well, all of my skin problems. I have embarrassing skin ailments but just in case my humiliation helps someone else, I'll discuss it. That's the reason I discuss anything that most (normal) people would keep to themselves.First, she wants to hydrate my skin. I have very dry skin on my face and body. She told me to bathe with Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar on my face and body. Then, I'm supposed to use Vaseline (the jelly, not the lotion) on my body. I know it sounds gross but it's necessary. I'm using Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer. I have skin tags, too. They are harmless but ugly. I want them gone. I have to clean the area where the skin tags are (and one mole) with this disinfectant. I have an appointment being scheduled to get all of these removed. I am very excited about this. After 30 days of hydrating my skin, she will begin to treat my adult onset acne with a topical treatment. She gave me an antibiotic but a topical treatment will be too drying right now. The other problem I have is facial hair. Yes, I have a beard. It's funny to you but it's a pain to me. I hate it. Mine is not just a few hairs growing here and there either. I could quite possibly grow a full beard. I can't wax or tweeze or use depilatory creams so she is going to do laser treatments. I'm VERY excited about that. I hope it doesn't take forever for me to look better. I'm also really sick of being gigantic. More on that later...Labels: acne, doctors, skincare
Midnight Snack

*Biiiiiig sigh*
It's 1 a.m and I just woke up and came in the back bedroom. I went to sleep at about 9 with a headache but I woke up a little while ago because Luke was snoring. LOUDLY! I have a migraine and I want a doughnut. Yummy, yummy, yummy.
I had a bad day. I just felt awful physically and I feel gross. I'm on my period and I'm still not used to it. I just got off of my birth control pill in December and I am used to taking it continuously and not having a period. This is the 6th day on it and I'm through, friends, through.
Then I am also having major skin problems. I used Philosophy for a long while and I really liked it. I have very dry skin though and felt like I needed something more. I was over zealous and didn't do any homework and while dad and I were at the mall just bought something. It was expensive and pretty but didn't do anything. When HEAVEN opened up at our mall, I went and bought some cleanser and moisturizer (and *cough* other stuff). It's all natural and I really love it. I broke out though. I don't know what the problem is. I go to see the dermatologist on Wednesday. If I have to, I'll bring back all the new stuff and go back to Philosophy.
I am also very, very hairy. I have hair on my neck and throat and face. It's like a man and it's embarrassing. I tweeze/wax my eyebrows but wax irritates and hurts my throat and neck. I used to use a depilatory cream but, my skin is just way too sensitive. I have to use it on too much of my skin and it burns! I'm going to find out about laser treatments. Something has to help me.
So, I was in tears more than once today because I am hairy and pimply and in pain. Cute.

The Skin You're In
Hello diary readers! Lets talk about skin care and products that I love: old and new. Let me start at the face. I mentioned before that PHILOSOPHY skin care is what changed my skin; saved my skin. I use their MAKEUP OPTIONAL SKINCARE. It's a package. Now, they have a new "for dry, sensitive skin" package. Check it out at http://www.philosophygirl.com/ Philosophy also has great products for moisturizing and exfoiliating. This is the key for better skin, ladies! If you have adult acne (I had it sooo bad) you need a gentle exfoliator and cleanser. Your skin doesn't need to burn or smell "medicine-y" to get rid of acne. There is no need for toner. It's also very important to exfoliate your body. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells and helps even things out. I always exfoliate before shaving my legs. It reduces the bumps and helps gets a closer shave. Body scrubs that I have and have used are: PHILOSOPHY Amazing Grace warming scrub; THE BODY SHOP mango body scrub (they have lots of different scents) and BRAZIL NUT body scrub. Also, I've used exfoliating body washes from Wal-Mart that are very effective and have a duel purpose- clean & exfoliate- gotta love that! I have the EQUATE brand and it works just fine. Next very important thing is moisturizing your skin. I've said it before but, it's that important! Use a moisurizer on your face before makeup or before you leave the house. The best is a moisturizer with a sunscreen of at least an spf of 15- all year long, everyday. I use the one by- you got it honey, PHILOSOPHY! Hey, stick with what works. And you know that there is always a new body lotion/butter/cream coming out everyday. Once again, because my skin is SUPER dry, I have baskets full of all of these. My favorites are from THE BODY SHOP. Their body butter is amazing. They contain real shea butter and have a very thick consistancy so my skin soaks it up and doesn't feel greasy. There are lots of fragrances but, I prefer the brazil nut. I am also a big huge fan of JOHNSON & JOHNSON'S BEDTIME LOTION. I buy the big ole bottle with the pump and put it next to the bed 'cause it says " Helps Soothe Fussy Babies Lavender & Camomile" It really helps to soothe me, I know that. Lavender is perfect for relaxation. I use all types to help with my migraines.... just a little extra tip. One of THE coolest products I've ever found and used is by OLAY. MOISTURINSE IN THE SHOWER BODY LOTION. This stuff is crazy cool.... after you cleanse, put it on, rinse it off your body like a conditioner. Viola! Taking care of your skin- the body's largest organ- is so important. Drinking lots of water, keeping hydrated, also keeps your skin glowing and healthy. This keeps you wrinkle and line free. Those cracked, dry, heels can be gone forever. Your face can look young and healthy and beautiful. It's true that you should never go to sleep without taking off your makeup. Your skin needs to breathe. Always wear sunscreen. And moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! That's what I've got for you today. Let me know what your skin regeme is. What is your must-have skin care product? What are your favorite lotions/butters and creams? Go lather on the body butter....Labels: favorite stuff, link to beauty products, product review, skincare
